Chapter 155: CHAPTER 155 - Celestial Dragon's Journey, A Bloody Battle for Survival

"Hahaha, this is so entertaining! What's wrong with these lowly commoners? They've suddenly started killing everywhere. Spectacular, truly spectacular!" Saint Desmere finally witnessed a good show today. Thanks to the Marines' specially installed surveillance Den Den Mushi, he had a clear view of the full-scale war breaking out on Lantis Island as the rebellion erupted.

Countless Marines at various outposts were killed or injured, and the Lantis people also suffered heavy casualties. Amidst the chaos, zombie monsters often intervened, turning the battles into widespread melees. The sight of life fading away in its final moments, filled with fear and madness, was utterly delightful and deeply enthralling to Saint Desmere.

However, Worendo, who was responsible for serving the Celestial Dragons, did not share the same sentiment. The Lantis people had launched a full-scale war, and if the Marines were not informed promptly, the losses would be catastrophic.

Additionally, some experimental specimens at other outposts could not be lost. Thus, he hurriedly excused himself to contact the Marines, but no commanders or high-ranking officers answered. Only a communications officer responded: "What are Eric and the others doing at such a critical moment?!"

"Deliver my message to Commander Eric immediately!"

"Understood."

By the time Worendo finished the call and returned, Saint Desmere was in a furious rage, shouting, "Damn that woman! That wretched woman! How dare she threaten me! These despicable commoners, these lowlifes!"

"Saint Desmere, what happened?" Worendo was startled. Just moments ago, everything seemed fine. Why was he suddenly so enraged?

"Look, it's happening again. That woman not only destroyed the surveillance Den Den Mushi but also threatened me..." Saint Desmere pointed at the last few functioning screens. On one of them, a woman with camouflage-painted face and icy, suffocating eyes held a Marine officer in her grip.

Her sword pierced through his body, and she lifted the corpse in front of the Den Den Mushi, making a threatening gesture by mimicking a slash across the neck—a universal signal of warning. Then, the surveillance Den Den Mushi lost connection.

"You see, this damned commoner must have known I was watching and deliberately did this to provoke me.

Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Prepare the guards! I will personally go to Lantis Island and capture her to be my slave. I will teach her a lesson... gods cannot be insulted!" Saint Desmere was beside himself with rage.

Worendo wanted to dissuade him, but the will of a Celestial Dragon was not something he could influence, especially in such a state of fury.

"Find and destroy all the Den Den Mushi on the island. Don't let those beasts laugh at us," Queen Hathaway ordered her subordinates.

Strangely, they encountered little resistance along the way. Most of the dispatched teams reported victories. Why were the Marines suddenly so weak? Where were their commanding officers?

Despite leading the Lantis warriors to significant victories, Hathaway felt uneasy. The absence of Eric, Reiser and others heightened her vigilance.

"Your Majesty, a fierce battle has been detected near the fissure. Enemy commanders are there, and some of our people are being held captive. Commander Morad is among them," a scout suddenly reported. The battle near Rosen's location was too intense, and with the Lantis forces sweeping the entire island, it was only a matter of time before they were discovered.

"Have Lord Hodman lead a team straight to the port. They must secure it. The rest of you, follow me to the fissure!" Queen Hathaway's aura seemed to radiate a crimson energy.

If Morad was still alive, it meant other Lantis citizens might also be alive. However, ordinary warriors could not handle high-ranking Marine officers like Eric. She had to go herself, and her sword had long thirsted for the blood of vengeance.

"The main Marine forces are hiding in such a place, using our Lantis people as bait!" Hathaway hadn't even reached the fissure when she saw the situation from a high vantage point. Her fury burned so intensely that she trembled.

Not only Hathaway but also the warriors accompanying her were seething with rage, their collective will converging into a frenzy. Meanwhile, Rosen's battle with the three powerful adversaries had reached its peak.

Rosen had suffered multiple severe injuries, especially a gaping wound in his left chest that had pierced through his body. Had it been slightly closer to his heart, Rosen would have been finished. That was the price he paid for forcefully killing Reiser.

While he succeeded in taking down Reiser, Eric seized the opportunity to inflict heavy damage on him.

Reiser, however, was not faring much better. Thanks to Rosen's relentless assault, Reiser's chest was caved in, his ribs shattered, and his face nearly unrecognizable from the blows.

"Hah..." Rosen used his Sand Shadow technique to create distance from the three, gasping for breath. He glanced at Kuma with a complex expression. Neither Eric nor Reiser seemed to notice, but Rosen had realized that Kuma wasn't fighting at full strength—it was as if he was holding back.

Remembering Kuma's true identity, Rosen understood the reason and began to deliberately take more of Kuma's attacks to free himself to counter Eric and Reiser's assaults. In reality, given Rosen's defenses, Kuma's half-hearted attacks didn't inflict much damage.

"Bastard!" Reiser was nearly driven mad. Was this Shichibukai insane? Despite being part of a three-on-one fight against the Sand Crocodile, every attack seemed to target him exclusively.

Even at the risk of being killed by Eric, Rosen continued to inflict heavy damage on Reiser. Filled with both rage and fear, Reiser began to suspect that Rosen intended to drag him down in death. Given Crocodile's earlier attitude toward him, this seemed almost certain.

Reiser's arm was nearly useless from the start, his face battered, and his body broken. He was in a severely weakened state, and if Rosen found an opening, he could be killed in a single strike. The thought of death terrified Reiser, who was not a hardened, iron-willed officer.

In the ensuing battle, he shifted to a defensive stance, which infuriated Eric. Despite their overwhelming advantage in a three-on-one fight, they had yet to defeat Crocodile, which was a disgrace.

When Reiser's attacks weakened, Eric angrily rebuked him: "Stop holding back! The longer this drags on, the more likely something will go wrong! Reiser, coordinate with me! Shichibukai Kuma, if this is all you're capable of, it's truly disappointing."

"An opportunity." Rosen seized the momentary discord among his opponents. Ignoring his worsening injuries, he pressed his hand to the ground, and golden sand scattered.

"Hellish Tornado!"

Boom!

Ten sand tornadoes erupted from the ground, sweeping toward Eric and Kuma. They quickly tore through one tornado, but more followed. Individually, Rosen's strength was not something they could ignore, and his attacks were equally threatening. A single misstep could be fatal.

Whoosh! Taking advantage of the brief opening, Rosen pushed his speed to the limit, even surpassing it, and appeared before Reiser in an instant. Reiser panicked, realizing that Rosen's apparent attacks on Eric and Kuma were actually feints—he was still the target. If he had the time, Reiser would have cursed.

In a desperate moment, Reiser narrowly avoided a sand sword aimed at his head using Kami-e, but Rosen's other fist slammed into his body. Even with Haki, the blow nearly shattered his internal organs. Reiser collapsed, coughing blood, his mind consumed by fear.

Rosen then pressed his hand against Reiser's chest, gasping for breath. He, too, was nearing his limit. Fighting three powerful opponents while severely injured was no easy feat, but he had managed to create a slim chance of survival.

However, Rosen forgot one thing: someone was fast enough to save Reiser before Rosen could deliver the final blow—Kuma's teleportation.
