Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Pushed to the Limit
The jungle air was thick with tension.
The pirates no longer smirked.
They had seen me take down two of their own.
Now, they were taking me seriously.
Three left.
One with a cutlass.
One with brass knuckles.
One with a pair of daggers.
I clenched my fists.
I was tired. My body ached.
But I couldn't stop now.
If I fell, I wouldn't get back up.
They Attack Together
"Enough of this!" the cutlass-wielder growled.
The three pirates rushed me at once.
I dodged left, avoiding the first sword swing—
But the one with brass knuckles slammed a punch into my ribs!
Pain exploded through my side.
I staggered—but forced myself to stay on my feet.
The dagger-wielder lunged—his blades flashing in the dim light.
I had no time to dodge.
So I stepped forward instead.
Counterattack
His eyes widened. He wasn't expecting me to charge toward him.
At the last second, I twisted my body—
His dagger barely grazed my shoulder.
And in that instant—
I slammed my knee into his gut.
THUD!
He let out a choked gasp, his grip loosening.
I grabbed his wrist—twisting hard.
CRACK!
His dagger dropped to the ground as he collapsed.
Two left.
One Mistake…
A sharp pain shot through my back.
I gasped.
The cutlass-wielder had slashed me—not deep, but enough to sting.
I had been too focused on the dagger-wielder.
Damn it! I can't afford mistakes!
I spun around, barely blocking a second slash with my forearm.
Blood trickled down my arm.
The brass-knuckle pirate lunged forward.
I had seconds to react.
The Final Push
I grabbed the dagger from the ground—and threw it.
WHISH!
It spun through the air—embedding into the brass-knuckle pirate's shoulder.
He screamed, stumbling back.
That left only one.
The cutlass-wielder.
He gritted his teeth. "You little—!"
I didn't let him finish.
I stepped in.
One punch.
Straight to his throat.
His eyes widened in shock—before he collapsed.
Victory… For Now
I stood there, gasping for air.
My body burned.
My vision blurred.
I had won.
But I could barely stand.
If another enemy showed up now…
I would be finished.
I took a shaky step forward.
Then another.
I wasn't dead yet.
And as long as I was alive—
I would keep moving forward.
