Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Whitebeard Falls.
"Eh!"
I thought my father's strength had long been depleted, but I never expected this seventy-year-old man to still possess such unimaginable speed.
Even someone with a body as tough as Teach couldn't withstand the earth-shattering slash of Father's supreme-grade blade, Murakumogiri.
A furious Whitebeard radiated murderous intent. At that moment, no one on Earth could withstand the assault of the world's strongest man.
Teach's bleeding body collapsed helplessly. Before it could hit the ground, Father's massive hand clamped around Blackbeard's head.
"Woohoo!"
With a thunderous crash, Teach's mind reeled as his skull was smashed into the ground, spiderweb cracks spreading out from the impact.
When his arms emerged with Sea Prism Stone claws, Whitebeard swiftly stomped on his left hand and crushed the right with the long handle of his naginata.
His enormous hand cracked Teach's cheekbones without mercy. Then, without hesitation, his arm vibrated—summoning a pure white shockwave.
Blackbeard had spent over twenty years lurking within the Whitebeard Pirates. He knew better than anyone just how devastating Whitebeard's power was.
"Daddy!!!"
Though Teach's body was far more durable than most, without a Devil Fruit power, he still felt pain three times greater than any ordinary person.
At such close range, a direct hit from the Gura Gura no Mi to the head would shatter a man into paste on the spot.
After years of gathering the world's most dangerous criminals to form a crew capable of conquering the seas, he couldn't let it end here.
Faced with death, Blackbeard's mind raced, seeking salvation in the only way he knew how—pleading like a son.
As the vibrations built in Whitebeard's arm, Teach took aim at his father's softest weakness and uttered a word he'd practiced all his life.
"Pops…"
Sure enough, the title Whitebeard had chased all his life—but never tired of hearing—caused a moment's hesitation.
In that fleeting pause, Whitebeard's grip slackened, and Teach seized the chance to break free.
With a "shunk," the cold, glinting Sea Prism Stone claws plunged into the old man's chest.
The brutal strike tore through ribs and pierced internal organs. Whitebeard's body began to shut down under the fatal blow.
Anyone else would've died instantly, but Whitebeard's sheer will kept his shattered body standing.
He tried to summon the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit again, but with Sea Prism Stone restraining him, even his indomitable soul began to fade.
"You... are not... one of the D..."
His voice and mind were on the verge of collapse, but with one final burst of strength, he swung his naginata across Teach's smirking face.
But the moment the claws struck his body, as if it were a signal, Teach's subordinates opened fire.
Blades, bullets, shells, and lasers rained down—blood and flesh flying between the two like a macabre storm.
Teach kicked Whitebeard away and yanked the twin claws free with a sickening squelch, tearing out part of the trachea.
"Zehehehe! Don't worry, Pops. Your legacy... will live on through me!"
Under the storm of attacks, the once-mighty chest of the world's strongest man was torn to shreds. He could no longer stand.
The Sea Emperor closest to becoming Pirate King could only lament the regret of not killing Teach when he had the chance.
His life flashed before him—his youth as an orphan adrift at sea. His greatest dream was simple: to have a family.
After founding the Whitebeard Pirates, he took in orphans and castaways, creating the family he always longed for.
They called him "Pops" with love and respect, and he carried the burden of being a father to them all.
Until his dying breath, Whitebeard gave everything to protect his sons.
The last image in his fading mind was of his eternal rival and friend—Gol D. Roger—smiling as always.
And then, like a spirit awakening in the fog of war, Whitebeard's eyes snapped open one last time.
"One Piece... is real!"
His final roar shook the sky, echoing across the battlefield before his eyes froze in death.
Countless marines and pirates alike paused mid-battle, staring in awe at the fallen titan.
Sengoku's brows furrowed as he exhaled deeply. With those last words, the old era had not ended with a period—but with an ellipsis.
Across the battlefield, his sons cried out with heartbreak.
"POPS!!!"
In this war, Whitebeard—Edward Newgate—took 267 sword wounds, 152 bullet holes, and 46 cannon blasts.
Yet even in death, he stood tall—never once receiving a wound on his back.
"You all stay here. I'm going in."
After confirming that Whitebeard had died standing, Blackbeard moved forward with the next phase of his monstrous plan.
He unfurled a massive black cloth, covering Whitebeard's body, and ordered his crew to stand guard.
In full view of the world, Blackbeard approached the shrouded corpse, ready to unveil a transformation that would shock the seas.
"If this fails, we disband on the spot."
Former jailer Shiryu of the Rain watched the scene with unease, voicing concern to his new comrade.
But his ill-timed comment summoned an unexpected guest—shattering their plans in an instant.
Just as Blackbeard reached the black curtain, a violent gust of wind swept down from above. He looked up, startled.
"Black Lotus: Six Kings Gun!"
A familiar enemy appeared in midair—Iggy, the Avenger—arms clenched, spinning like a drill as he descended.
The swirling wind launched dirt and debris into the air. Iggy's obsidian-colored fists focused their power into a single devastating point.
With a thunderous impact, he struck Teach's head dead-on, compressing his skull, cracking his neck, and knocking teeth from his jaw.
The force of the blow slammed Teach into the ground, crushing his head deep into the dirt like a falling meteor.
"CAPTAIN!"
Blackbeard's crew was stunned by the divine ambush.
They leapt into action, only to find themselves snared—black tentacles from the ground latched onto their feet, holding them in place.
The strike landed. Iggy didn't hesitate. Using Teach's body as a springboard, he vanished into the shrouded black cloth.
"SHOOT HIM! KILL THAT BASTARD!"
Teach, blood oozing from every orifice, pushed himself out of the dirt, coughing up mud and grass.
Knowing this was a critical moment, he barked at his men to open fire.
His entire crew snapped to action, unleashing bullets, blasts, and shrapnel into the black curtain.
They emptied round after round, the air ringing with the chaos of gunfire.
When the smoke cleared, the blackness at their feet faded. Blackbeard signaled his men to move in.
"In vain..."
But to everyone's shock, the curtain lifted—on its own.
Only Whitebeard's ravaged corpse remained. The shield that had soaked up all their fire.
Then, from behind the massive body, someone pushed it aside—
And Iggy emerged. Alive. Unscathed.
In Blackbeard's horrified eyes, darkness coiled around Iggy's left arm—while his right shone with pure white light.
The Avenger grinned, teeth gleaming.
"Hey, Teach… surprised to see me?"
