Chapter 315: The Well-Traveled Wild Boar! Four-Winged Bird! You Want Us to Stop Them?

The onslaught of skills crashing down from all directions threatened to rip through the entire frontlines. Even if the line didn't collapse entirely, it would certainly create a massive breach, and repairing it afterward would be an impossible task.

At that moment, when everyone had already sunk into despair, a light laugh suddenly rang in their ears.

"Don't panic." His voice wasn't loud, but it spread to everyone, and somehow, everyone's heart settled as if some unseen force had steadied them.

At the same time, as Luca's voice fell, an enormous black magical array suddenly appeared in the sky, large enough to cover tens of thousands of people. A black tortoise shell slowly descended, enveloping everyone within its protective barrier.

High-Level Magic Runes—Dark Tortoise Shell!

The barrage of attacks, resembling a dazzling galaxy of colors, rained down upon the protective shield. The explosive flashes were as magnificent as fireworks, stunning in their beauty.

However, the tortoise shell only trembled slightly and didn't show any signs of breaking apart. This caused everyone's hearts to lift—they were safe!

"I thought we were done for." Cornbark wiped the sweat from his forehead, still shaken. He then noticed the odd looks on the faces of several nearby soldiers.

It seemed as though they were silently implying, So you're afraid of dying too?

"What kind of look is that?!" Cornbark snapped, growing flustered. "What's wrong with being afraid of dying? How many decent people aren't afraid of death?!"

The soldiers couldn't help but laugh. Indeed, how many decent people weren't afraid of dying? But there were always things or people that made you put your life on the line, like Cornbark, who was clearly terrified of death but still stood his ground.

The battle in the sky continued. After confirming the soldiers behind him were no longer in immediate danger, Luca shifted his focus back to a high-level monster nearby.

It was a red wild boar covered in spiked bristles, its tusks resembling two crescent-shaped scimitars. The beast exuded a violent and savage aura, and flames could be seen flickering from its nostrils.

The Crimson Fire Boar, upon meeting Luca's gaze, shuddered. Instinctively, it began to retreat, its eyes filled with pure, unfiltered terror.

Having roamed the Abyssal Demon Realm for many years, it had encountered countless powerful Superclass Monsters and even once caught a distant glimpse of the Nine-Headed King.

But this Crimson Fire Boar was certain it had never encountered anything like this human. Though Luca's power was weaker than a Superclass, he emanated an aura that made the boar feel deeply terrified.

This aura was something the boar had seen before in a madman who frequently ventured into the Abyssal Demon Realm to hunt monsters. Luca's presence exuded a similar, if not greater, intensity. The boar had no idea who Luca was, but it knew one thing for sure—it was best to stay as far away from this human as possible.

As the Crimson Fire Boar was thinking this, its pupils suddenly contracted. Luca, who had been several hundred meters away just a moment ago, had somehow appeared right in front of it in the blink of an eye.

This human… What terrifying speed!

Staring at Luca, who stood calmly before it with his sword raised, the Crimson Fire Boar couldn't help but urinate in fear.

Swish! The boar's head was severed with a clean swipe, blood spurting out, accompanied by a distinct, foul stench of urine. Luca couldn't help but wrinkle his nose. These monsters really had no sense of decorum. Even in death, they had to disgust him a little.

[Ding! You have slain lv67 Crimson Fire Boar "Elite", 1,200,000 experience!]

Almost simultaneously, Quagmire and the others had also slain the monsters in front of them. In just this brief moment, nearly ten monsters had died by their hands, half of which had been slain by Luca alone.

It was like watching someone chop vegetables—one swift strike, and they were done. Simple as that.

Luca's level had successfully risen to 54. After allocating all his attribute points to Spirit, his stats now stood at a staggering 22,000 points.

Once his Spirit reached around 30,000, he would likely have a fighting chance even against Superclass Monsters.

At this point, the high-level monsters looked at Luca and the others with completely different eyes. In such a short time, nearly one-tenth of their number had been slaughtered.

These weren't ordinary monsters; they were true high-level monsters. To see such a slaughter occur so easily at the hands of these humans was unexpected.

Fear flickered in the eyes of all the high-level monsters. Upon reaching this tier, monsters had developed a certain level of intelligence. Some of them were beginning to reconsider their charge.

"I didn't expect these monsters to actually be afraid," Quagmire said, sounding somewhat surprised.

"Don't get careless," Luca shook his head. With his extensive experience from his previous life, he knew that monsters were all the same—they were bullies who only feared the strong.

As long as you showed weakness, they'd bare their fangs. Only corpses were truly docile.

Sure enough, not long after Luca's words, a series of sharp wind blades suddenly shot toward them with lethal precision. Everyone reacted swiftly, dodging in time.

Luca, however, was given special attention. Four wind blades targeted the vital points of his body, clearly indicating that the attacker knew exactly who posed the greatest threat.

"Ow!"At that moment, a startled scream suddenly echoed through the air. Luca glanced over and saw Fuzzsir—he couldn't quite figure out what was going on with the guy.

While dodging, Fuzzsir had somehow tripped over his own undead creatures, nearly getting his head sliced off in the process.

Everyone broke out in cold sweat from the close call, but Fuzzsir merely dusted himself off, grumbling, "When I get back, I'm stewing you and feeding you to the dogs."

Luca pretended not to hear and turned his gaze back to where the wind blades had come from. There, hovering in the air, was a humanoid creature with four wings, its head resembling that of a bird. It was naked, except for modesty patches covering its most vital areas.

"Four-Winged Bird?" Luca was somewhat surprised. He hadn't expected to see such a creature in this battle. He had heard about them before—Four-Winged Birds were a species native to the Abyssal Demon Realm, known for their noble bloodlines. Most of them were leaders of some sort.

Looking at the aura surrounding this particular monster, it seemed to have reached the peak of high-level status, just one step away from becoming a Superclass.

"Fast reaction," the Four-Winged Bird remarked, its sharp eyes locking onto Luca. It spoke in the language of Summer Country, indicating that some monsters had an extraordinary ability to learn. This Four-Winged Bird was clearly one of them.

"You're the leader of these monsters?" Luca asked, maintaining a calm and composed demeanor.

The Four-Winged Bird scoffed. "So what if I am? What, do you want to become my subordinate?" Experience more content on My Virtual Library Empire

"That's all I needed to know," Luca replied nonchalantly. He didn't have much interest in this self-absorbed creature. In an instant, his figure disappeared from where he stood, reappearing right in front of the Four-Winged Bird.

Golden magic runes flickered in his hand as his long blade became enveloped in a golden glow. With a swift strike, the blade sliced toward the bird's neck. However, before it could even make contact, a feathered hand shot out and caught the blade mid-air.

"Is that all you've got?" the Four-Winged Bird sneered. It pulled Luca toward it with a sudden force, its claws aiming directly at his heart.

The others were taken aback by this. They had seen Luca's strength firsthand, and they hadn't expected this half-man, half-bird creature to block his attack so easily. But Luca's expression didn't change. He reversed his wrist, and Starseeker became a flash of cold light as it darted toward the bird's heart and throat.

The Four-Winged Bird tried to swat Starseeker away with a claw, just about to mock Luca.

Swish! Its expression froze. Slowly, it looked down at its chest.

A hand, gleaming with metallic light, was deeply embedded in its chest, like a dagger plunged straight into its heart.

"Why do people always think you need a weapon to kill?" Luca slowly withdrew his hand, glancing at the Four-Winged Bird with a slightly puzzled look. Did it think that if the sword was knocked away, he wouldn't be able to kill it?

"You... you!" The Four-Winged Bird pointed weakly at Luca, blood pouring from its mouth. The anger in its eyes was almost palpable as it gasped, speaking through gritted teeth, "You won't... won't survive... long... My master... my master will avenge me... I will wait for you below..."

With those final words, the Four-Winged Bird's head stiffened and slowly drooped, falling limp.

Master? Luca narrowed his eyes. He couldn't recall any new "masters" in the Abyssal Demon Realm. Or was it possible that the "master" the Four-Winged Bird mentioned wasn't someone from the Abyssal Demon Realm at all?

A disjointed sentence like that wasn't something Luca could make sense of, but he didn't bother dwelling on it. He simply tossed the Four-Winged Bird's corpse into the midst of the monster horde.

At that moment, everyone—both soldiers and monsters—stood frozen in place, gazing up at the figure in the sky and the Four-Winged Bird falling from above. A surreal feeling washed over the group.

"A Lord-level monster at the peak of high rank... just like that?" It wasn't just the ordinary soldiers who were shocked—Cornbark couldn't help but swallow nervously. This Morning Star guy... he's a freak, isn't he?

The others, too, looked at Luca with a mixture of awe and fear. A being capable of killing a leader-level high-tier monster with their bare hands was not someone they could afford to mess with.

On the other hand, the people who had been sheltered in the safe zone were overjoyed every time Luca killed another monster. They had even more faith now that Luca could really do this.

Tuwnken and Timi wore smiles, as if they had already seen the light of hope in their departure.

But no one noticed the toy bear in the little girl's hands. Its smile was growing increasingly eerie.

With the Four-Winged Bird's death, the monster horde seemed to lose its previous momentum.

If not for their unwillingness to abandon the humans, many monsters would likely have already turned and fled.

The high-tier monsters in the sky, however, had a different set of calculations. Some of them had already started retreating. Compared to their base instincts and desires, they understood the importance of their lives much better.

Luca squinted but didn't stop them. He turned to Quagmire and the others behind him and said, "You guys hold them off for now. I'll be back shortly."

Now was the perfect time for them to leave. Once the monster morale recovered, escaping would become much more difficult.

Quagmire looked at the sky full of high-tier monsters, then at Luca, utterly confused. Pointing at himself, he stammered, "You want us to... hold them off?"
