Chapter 375:The Battle Behemoth of the Via Empire
Amid the deafening roar of cannon fire and the shrill howls of the monsters, Luca kept his mind steady, his gaze locked firmly onto the Chaos Behemoth Kraken lurking deep within the black mist.
He knew very clearly that only the Chaos Behemoth Kraken posed a true threat to him.
As the battle raged on, the number of monsters spawned from the black mist began to rapidly dwindle.
The density of the black mist surrounding the outer walls of Shelter 102 also started to gradually thin.
The soldiers fighting atop the outer walls finally began to loosen up, their nerves no longer stretched to the breaking point as before.
Everyone believed that the monster horde had been successfully repelled this time.
Only Luca understood that the true assault of the Chaos Behemoth Kraken was about to begin.
A piercing, ear-splitting screech suddenly tore through the air.
All the surrounding black mist surged violently toward the Chaos Behemoth.
Kraken gathered all the surrounding energy into itself.
At last, its full form revealed itself before the eyes of everyone at Shelter 102.
The Chaos Behemoth Kraken possessed six massive legs, and atop those legs rested an oval-shaped monstrous nest.
Inside that twisted nest, countless grotesque monsters squirmed and writhed.
At the very front of the nest was a head bristling with writhing tentacles and countless glaring eyes.
At that moment, every single one of Kraken's eyes was locked onto Luca.
Luca did not choose to wait for his enemy to strike first; instead, he turned into a streak of radiant light and shot toward the Chaos Behemoth Kraken.
As he flew, he activated the power of Obsidian.
He hurled Obsidian like a spear with all his might.
Before Luca could collide head-on with Kraken, the Obsidian spear had already struck the Chaos Behemoth's colossal body.
Kraken's massive form shuddered violently.
Although Obsidian's attack had not gravely wounded it, it was clear the strike had made the behemoth exceedingly uncomfortable.
Countless tentacles stretched out, writhing toward both Obsidian and Luca.
Kraken tried to simultaneously rip Obsidian from its body and block Luca's oncoming assault.
But Luca was never going to give it that chance.
As the tentacles lashed out, he activated the flaming magic runes inscribed upon his body.
Blazing flames erupted into existence out of nowhere.
Now wreathed in scorching fire, Luca shot toward Kraken.
He looked like a blazing meteor streaking across the darkened sky.
All eyes within Shelter 102 were fixed on him.
When the red meteor slammed into the Chaos Behemoth Kraken, a violent explosion erupted.
The sky above the shelter was completely illuminated.
A collective gasp rose from the people inside the shelter.
At that moment, Susie was gathered with her family, watching the battle unfold.
Although she deeply believed in Luca's strength, a sliver of worry still lingered in her heart.
"Don't worry. No matter what kind of monster he faces, Brother Luca will definitely win,"
came Tracer's soft and tender voice.
A strained smile appeared on Susie's face.
If even a child like Tracer chose to believe in Luca, then as Luca's girlfriend, she had all the more reason to trust him as well.
The brilliant light from the massive explosion quickly faded.
More than half of Kraken's tentacles had been obliterated by the blast.
At that moment, Luca was relentlessly attacking Kraken's wounds, wielding the Starseeker in his hands.
He hoped to kill the Chaos Behemoth as quickly as possible by targeting its injuries.
Throughout Luca's fierce assault, Kraken thrashed wildly in desperation.
Though the Chaos Behemoth was not a creature known for its agility, when faced with mortal danger, it managed to unleash tremendous power.
Kraken released every single monster housed within the nest on its back.
The swarm of monsters launched unrelenting attacks against Luca.
However, the vast majority of their strikes proved utterly ineffective.
The reason was simple: the power of the flame magic runes had not yet dissipated, and Luca remained surrounded by searing flames.
At the same time, the Starseeker in his hand continued to radiate a silver-white brilliance.
This silver light inflicted additional damage to the monsters.
As one method after another failed to stop him, the Chaos Behemoth Kraken descended into a berserk rage.
In a frenzied act of self-destruction, it wrenched all six of its own legs from its body.
Its colossal form crashed heavily to the ground.
But Luca had been prepared for this moment.
He drove the Starseeker deep into Kraken's body, anchoring himself firmly.
Thus, when Kraken's body slammed into the ground, Luca was not thrown off.
"You think you can escape my attacks like this?" Luca shouted, his voice cold and resolute. "Impossible! I've got far too much experience dealing with monsters like you!" Although this was his first time battling the Chaos Behemoth Kraken, Luca had fought against many other gigantic monsters before.
Monsters of immense size did indeed possess tremendous strength, and during combat, they could exert overwhelming pressure on their enemies.
However, as long as the distance could be closed, top-tier warriors like Luca could easily evade the attacks of such massive creatures.
As time went on, the Kraken's resistance grew noticeably weaker.
It seemed that the battle was finally approaching its end.
Luca no longer felt the immense pressure he had earlier.
He even found himself beginning to think about other matters.
But just then, the Kraken's colossal body suddenly began to decay at an astonishing speed.
Before Luca could even react, the behemoth's massive form had shrunk to a size barely larger than an elephant.
However, this did not mean that its power had diminished accordingly.
In reality, the Chaos Behemoth Kraken had compressed all of its strength into a body the size of an elephant.
Now, Kraken's new form resembled a gigantic demonic wolf covered in writhing tentacles.
"So you had another form hidden away?"
Luca was slightly surprised when he saw the monster's new shape.
It felt strangely familiar, as though he had seen something like it before.
After a brief moment of thought, the memory came rushing back to him.
"The battle beasts of the Via Empire!"
An image flashed through Luca's mind — the heavy cavalry of the Via Empire charging forward atop gigantic tentacled demon-wolves.
It turned out those beasts weren't demon-wolves at all, but rather the second form of Chaos Behemoths like Kraken.
"You're a battle beast from the Via Empire! How are you even appearing in the real world?! Could it be that the Via Empire has formed an alliance with Zenith Technology Company?!"
A series of unsettling possibilities raced through Luca's mind.
If his guess was correct, then the crisis he was about to face would be far greater than anything he had imagined.
However, there was no time to dwell on such distant threats.
Right now, he had only one task — to destroy Kraken's second form!
Realizing the magnitude of the new danger, Luca quickly shifted his combat strategy.
Previously, he had intended to conserve his strength so that he could head straight to Zenith Technology Company's secret laboratory after the battle.
But now, he had abandoned that plan entirely.
He immediately activated two different magic runes.
Blazing lightning and searing flames surged around his body.
Luca radiated a blinding brilliance.
Everyone in the shelter could see him charging toward the monster at incredible speed.
A moment later, a violent explosion erupted.
Countless bolts of lightning rained down from the heavens, illuminating the sky above the shelter once again.
Under Luca's fierce assault, the Chaos Behemoth Kraken was completely destroyed.
All that remained of the monster, now reduced to ashes, was a finely crafted nameplate.
Luca bent down and picked it up.
Etched into the nameplate was the emblem of the Via Empire.
And beneath the emblem, a line of text was inscribed:
[Rose Knights, Warhawk Company]
Clearly, it was the name of one of the Via Empire's knight regiments.
The armies of the Via Empire were controlled by various senators.
However, no single senator could command the vast military forces alone; each senator divided their forces into multiple divisions.
Any knight regiment would be considered a core component of a senator's military strength.
"Maybe it's just one of the Via Empire's senators collaborating with Zenith Technology Company,"
Luca murmured to himself.
If that were the case, the threat he faced might not be too severe.
And it would not be entirely unexpected either.
After all, collusion between factions from Eternal World and the real world had long existed.
Even he had cooperated with the Clinton Empire.
Morning Star was far better suited for certain Eternal World powerhouses to trade equipment.
Nevertheless, any collaboration between Zenith Technology Company and factions within the Via Empire was utterly unacceptable.
The Via Empire's artificial monster technology had already wrought enormous devastation in the Eternal World,
and Luca had no intention of letting that same disaster unfold in the real world.
As he pondered these matters, a scout from the shelter approached him from nearby.
"Sir, are you alright? Has the battle ended? Do you need us to provide any assistance?"
Luca turned his head and glanced at the scout.
"The battle is over. You can start clearing the battlefield," Luca said calmly. "Even if a few monsters have survived, they won't be a threat to you."
The scout immediately pulled out a signal flare.
With the firing of the signal, the soldiers of Shelter 102 began the task of cleaning up the battlefield.
Luca, meanwhile, made his way back toward the shelter.
Seeing that the shelter itself had not suffered any attacks, he finally allowed himself a sigh of relief.
Just as he pushed open the door to the hotel, Susie threw herself into his arms.
"Thank goodness you made it back in time. If you hadn't returned when you did, I can't even imagine what kind of disaster would have befallen the shelter," she said, her voice trembling slightly.
Before this moment, Susie had no idea that Luca had already returned.
All she knew was that Luca had left Shelter 102 to carry out an important mission.
Thus, in her mind, the sequence of events was simple — the monsters attacked first, and Luca had returned just in time to save them.
Luca gently patted Susie on the head.
"Easy now." he said softly. "I promise you, I will protect all of you."
