Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Jiang Kai's Weakness
The informant left, leaving Jiang Kai standing in place, feeling a bit at a loss.
After a moment, he turned to Hu Yan. "Old Hu, what is this Guild Challenge?"
Hu Yan replied, "It's an annual event hosted by the military. By my guess, it's set to happen in about a month and a half."
"The Guild Challenge is a city-level competition aimed at honing the combat skills of all participating guilds."
"There are two categories: Guild Wars and Team Battles. In Guild Wars, each guild in Jiangzhong City must send teams of five, categorized by second-tier, third-tier, and fourth-tier professions. Each tier features ten teams, totaling 150 participants in one battlefield. Two guilds compete simultaneously in an elimination-style contest."
"The second category is Team Battles. Teams from each guild, also consisting of five members, are categorized into second-tier, third-tier, fourth-tier, and extraordinary fifth-tier brackets. However, members of higher tiers are not allowed to compete in lower-tier brackets. These matches also follow elimination rules."
"In the end, the military awards prizes to the top three guilds from Guild Wars and the top three teams in each tier from Team Battles."
Jiang Kai nodded thoughtfully. "150 participants... That's too many. I probably wouldn't stand a chance..."
Players are not mindless monsters—they have gear, talents, and skills, and they're smarter.
For instance, if there's a high-level defender with a shield, Jiang Kai's darts would likely be rendered ineffective, making it impossible to win.
That left only Team Battles as an option.
"Captain Kai, that guy earlier was being sneaky. I don't think he has good intentions," Hu Yan cautioned. "It might even be a trap."
Jiang Kai mulled over it for a long time and said, "Let's set it aside for now. I need to log out and check on my brother—he just had surgery."
"Alright, we'll wait for you."

At the Black Tortoise Guild's Base in Zone 18
A figure slipped through the back door into the courtyard, heading straight for the conference hall.
If Jiang Kai were there, he'd immediately recognize this person—it was the same guy who had tipped him off earlier.
Inside the conference hall, the Third Elder, Huang Tong, and Huang Da were already waiting. They stood up as soon as the man entered.
"Fourth Brother, is the matter settled?" Huang Tong asked.
The newcomer smiled faintly. "It's done. I've already told Jiang Kai about the military rewards. I'm confident he'll participate."
Huang Da's face twisted into a sinister grin. "With more countries discovering connected teleportation gates and the Global Dominance Tournament's emphasis on 'kills' to determine victors, the military seems to be preparing for it as well. This year's Guild Challenge rules have been adjusted to also use 'kills' as the end condition."
Huang Tong nodded slightly. "That information hasn't been made public yet. Jiang Kai probably thinks this is just another ordinary competition."
The Third Elder's face darkened as he snorted coldly. "In the last BOSS battle, we secured the kill, but that kid Jiang Kai stole the spotlight."
"When I delivered the skull to the military, they had the audacity to say Black Tortoise got 'lucky' this time."
Huang Tong clenched his fists. "We finally caught up to Azure Dragon in contribution points after this BOSS, but despite contributing the same number of summoning skulls, everyone still says Black Tortoise is inferior to Azure Dragon. We spent eight months preparing for this hunt, failed twice before, and invested so much—only to get treated like this. I can't stomach it!"
Huang Da added furiously, "That guy killed Huang Wei. Now Wei's mental state is unstable, all thanks to him."
The Third Elder's voice turned icy. "There are even people within Black Tortoise defending him, claiming he gave up the skull. Can't they see? Even if he had the guts, he wouldn't dare risk public outrage by stealing the BOSS. He's just putting on a show, pretending to be benevolent."
"If we don't deal with him soon, removing him will only get harder."
Huang Tong spoke up. "Uncle, during that battle, we all noticed that his strength hinges on his weapon. Beyond that, he's not overwhelmingly powerful."
"The military likely wants him in the Guild Challenge, which is why they deliberately included the Tier-2 Chasing Nine Tribulations as a reward for the Team Battles. That's the perfect bait to lure him in."
"I've assembled a group of loyal members with high defensive strength to counter his darts. Once we block his attacks, he'll be as good as dead!"
Huang Da chimed in with determination. "And I'll personally join the Team Battles this time. We've analyzed his methods—long-range attacks with fire damage, possibly augmented by magnetic stones. His attack power is unpredictable, but his weaknesses are clear."
"Low attributes, poor endurance, and almost no defensive capabilities. He can kill others, but others can just as easily kill him!"
"Plus, we have that piece of equipment. Victory is guaranteed."
"As a member of the Huang family, I request permission to enter the competition. I'm confident I can dodge his attacks and take him down in one strike!"
The Third Elder looked at Huang Da with satisfaction and nodded. He trusted Huang Tong's arrangements and Huang Da's strength.
"By the way, what's the status with his brother and sister?"
Huang Da replied, "His family is staying in the military's reception area, so we can't get close."
"What nonsense! She still has to attend school, doesn't she?" Huang Tong bellowed. "Just Jiang Kai killing Xiao Wei twice is reason enough to take down his whole family."
"Little Da, make sure this matter is handled. If something happens, I'll take the blame."
The Third Elder nodded slightly. "Both online and offline—we'll attack from both fronts. Let's see how much chaos this Jiang Kai can stir up."

Back in the Real World
Jiang Kai had just exited the login portal when he saw Su Lanlan glaring at him.
Jiang Kai frowned. "Why are you looking at me like that? Don't tell me you've fallen for me."
Su Lanlan snapped out of it, her face flushing slightly, but she quickly masked it with indignation. "Shameless!"
Jiang Kai laughed as he retrieved his clothes from a locker and put them on.
As he finished dressing, Su Lanlan approached.
"Hey, Xiao Hei said someone's looking for you."
"Xiao Hei? The guy with the sunglasses from last time? Who's looking for me?"
"Someone from Jiangzhong City's War-God Hall. If you're free, I'll call Xiao Hei to arrange a meeting."
Jiang Kai thought for a moment. "I'm heading to visit my brother now. It's not far, so call me when they're here."
Su Lanlan reluctantly took Jiang Kai's number, muttering, "Your brother's surgery was a success."
Jiang Kai's eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Why would I lie? But they still need to monitor him for a while to prevent rejection."
"Thank you! I'll go see him now." Jiang Kai said excitedly, rushing out of the login hall.
