Chapter 210: Chapter 210: study? just you?
"Compared to a foolish son, a daughter is far more considerate."
But just as the ramen shop owner finished speaking, the sharp clatter of dropped bowls and chopsticks interrupted him.
He turned toward the sound and saw his daughter standing frozen, cheeks flushed, eyes wide as she stared toward the counter.
Following her gaze, he sighed.
While Togarihime had distracted him with conversation, the bowl of ramen placed in front of Kakashi had gone untouched—until now. Seeing the coast was clear, Kakashi had finally pulled down his mask to eat.
And she had caught a full glimpse of his face.
She had dropped the dishes in shock.
The owner gently tapped her forehead to snap her out of it, but he didn't scold her.
After all... Kakashi really was handsome.
Still, he let out a small sigh and thought to himself, Maybe I should take back half of what I just said. Daughters can be troublesome too. If I only had daughters, maybe things wouldn't be much different...
A son and a daughter. That's probably the best.
Togarihime, meanwhile, had no reaction to Kakashi's face. Though she looked like a beautiful woman, she was, at heart, still a snake—unfazed by human standards of appearance, and completely uninterested in things like celebrity gossip or aesthetics.
Her focus was far simpler: food.
After finishing her massive meal at Ichiraku Ramen, she ate her way down two more streets, sampling dish after dish, until something unusual stopped her in her tracks.
She stood before a particular building, eyes narrowing slightly.
"What's in there?" she asked, visibly intrigued.
As a being who had cultivated her senses through natural energy, her perception was sharper than the Byakugan or even the Sharingan. And yet, she could sense nothing from inside this building.
That made it all the more suspicious.
"This place is classified," Kakashi said, keeping his expression neutral. "It's one of the village's sealed facilities. I can't say more."
This was where Konoha developed sealing and barrier techniques in secret—specifically to counter enemies with space-time ninjutsu.
When Snake Princess moved as if to get a closer look, Kakashi quickly stepped in front of her.
"Lord Orochimaru asked me to show you around Konoha," he said firmly. "But this place is off-limits."
"Tsk, so stingy." Togarihime licked her lips but seemed to back off.
Kakashi exhaled in relief and stepped closer, hoping to lead her away from the area.
But just then—she made her move.
In a blur, she leapt toward the building's entrance. A transparent barrier shimmered into existence, blocking her just long enough for Kakashi to intercept.
His face tightened, and he vanished in a flicker of lightning.
Before he could stop her, dozens of small white snakes shot out from her sleeves and darted toward the doors and windows.
It was clear: she intended to get inside no matter what.
A snake will always burrow into holes, Kakashi thought grimly. Especially this one.
Orochimaru might've been able to stop her with words—but Kakashi? Not a chance.
Whatever goodwill she'd shown while eating and playing around earlier was now gone. Snake Princess had a short memory for such things. Gratitude wasn't in a snake's nature.
Besides, she wasn't acting alone—this chaos was part of a plan.
At almost the same time, Kakashi drew a dagger and flashed forward, standing in front of the building.
Shing—shing—shing—shing!
His blade spun like a silver whirlwind, slicing every snake mid-air. Their severed bodies writhed on the ground.
A moment later, a powerful chakra surged, and a red barrier rose over the entire building.
Kakashi stood firm, dagger raised in front of his chest. His tone dropped.
"Snake Princess, what's the meaning of this?"
"Just playing," she said with a sharp grin. But her appearance changed—eye shadow darkened her lids, her fangs extended, and her soft features twisted into something wild and feral.
"I wanted to peek inside. And you can't stop me."
"This facility holds sensitive village secrets," Kakashi said flatly. "You're not allowed in. Back off now. If you don't, the sealing corps will be here soon—and you'll put Lord Orochimaru in an impossible position."
Togarihime chuckled coldly. "You underestimate Orochimaru."
In Ryūchi Cave, her own home, even boldness like this wouldn't have raised an eyebrow.
Still, she relaxed.
It wasn't Kakashi's words that made her retreat.
It was the presence behind her.
Shff!
In a whisper of movement, Orochimaru appeared beside her.
He didn't glance at the snakes on the ground. He only gave a sly smile.
"Kakashi's right," he said smoothly. "You're making things... complicated. I'll have to reconsider inviting you next time."
"Boring," she muttered, turning her head.
Orochimaru looked at Kakashi. "Go reassure the sealing unit."
Kakashi nodded and left without another word.
With the matter settled, Orochimaru and Togarihime began strolling down the street side by side.
"I didn't think you'd be interested in sealing techniques," he said idly.
"I'm not," she replied, side-eyeing him. "But you told me to act like a spoiled woman. Honestly, it's kind of annoying."
Orochimaru gave a low laugh. "You don't really mind though, do you? Besides, they're making no progress—some pressure will remind them the village isn't as safe as they think."
She hadn't attacked out of nowhere. Even if it was just for Orochimaru's sake, she would have behaved while in Konoha.
But this was his idea. He had told her to provoke the village.
All this fuss—just to obtain sealing techniques.
Orochimaru handed her a prepared scroll, containing a full suite of sealing arts from basic to advanced. He had put it together during the peace talks with the Fourth Raikage but had held it back until now—because he needed to use her one more time.
Togarihime smiled, satisfied, and casually swallowed the scroll whole.
But Orochimaru gave a final warning.
"Don't think that knowledge alone will get you to the level of the Third Kazekage's soul seal. You'll need a proper vessel. The core used by Sasori to anchor his soul isn't something you can just replicate."
A flicker of surprise crossed Togarihime's face.
"So you knew what I was after all along?"
