Otherworldly Desert Dust

Chapter 136: Lord Wu Hen Wakes Up

Tu Shanlan reached the top floor.

She suddenly slowed her pace and walked toward the life pod.

But the life pod had clearly been opened, and it seemed no one had tended to it for a long time. No one believed the person lying inside the Life Care Chamber would awaken.

As she walked, Tu Shanlan couldn't believe her eyes, because the person in the life pod was really gone.

Only then did she suddenly realize, and she was overwhelmed with excitement and joy.

"He's awake!"

"He's really awake!"

Tu Shanlan hurriedly ran downstairs, heading for the bench she had seen earlier.

Wu Hen was still standing there, a lazy smile on his pale cheeks.

Tu Shanlan found herself at a loss for words.

Even though she considered him her spiritual pillar and idol for the past five years—after all, he had given humanity a chance for survival—they had only spoken a few words to each other. A person who lived in her heart was now standing in front of her, making her unsure of how to speak.

"You still haven't told me what year it is now," Wu Hen asked.

"We've regarded the day Otherworldly Dust was recognized as the real world as the start of the Desert Dust Calendar. It's now the fifth year of the Desert Dust Calendar," Tu Shanlan said.

"Five years???" Wu Hen was shocked.

No way!

He had been unconscious for two and a half years!

His beloved Miss Mingyi had probably gotten married... Sigh, should he ruin her family and make her get a divorce?

"How's everyone else?" Wu Hen continued to ask.

"They're all fine. We experienced a period of peace after that and gradually began to communicate with other factions in the Dust. We learned a lot of advanced military technology and gradually formed different sects. These sects have become the backbone of humanity," Tu Shanlan said.

Mentioning this, Tu Shanlan couldn't help but look toward the plaza.

In the center of the plaza, the Longevity Sect people were still cheering, welcoming their new spiritual leader.

"Oh, what's going on over there?" Wu Hen asked, pointing as he noticed Tu Shanlan's attention.

"A statue of you stands there. After all, you made such a huge sacrifice for all humanity, bringing us years of peace, but..." Tu Shanlan said.

"Huh???" Wu Hen was dumbfounded. He glanced at the rubble on the ground, "A statue of me????"

No way, the statue in the center of Silver Dome City was his?

And he had been the one stomping on it joyfully just now...

"You didn't know?" Tu Shanlan asked instinctively.

"When I woke up, the statue had just been toppled and shattered to pieces," Wu Hen said.

Who would have thought humanity would erect a hero statue of him in his absence, right in the city center? How many innocent young girls must pass by each day, admiring his majestic appearance?

Seeing Tu Shanlan's reaction just now, Wu Hen immediately understood.

He never imagined he would one day become the global idol of young girls, the ultimate beloved star!

What a pity.

If he had awakened sooner, and if this honor hadn't been overturned, perhaps there would have been frequent talent shows held...

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect your statue," Tu Shanlan said softly. Continue reading on My Virtual Library Empire

"It's okay. At the peak, one receives false adoration; at dusk, one witnesses true believers. You are the one who truly cares about me," Wu Hen said.

As soon as he said this, it seemed to touch Tu Shanlan's true sorrow, and tears began to flow uncontrollably.

The tissue the old man gave her earlier was used up. Seeing Tu Shanlan cry like this, Wu Hen had no choice but to offer his generous embrace, lending his real fangirl some comfort.

Though his shoulders were now thin and not broad, the soul within could provide true warmth and strength to this confused woman!

Tu Shanlan cried for a long time before regaining her composure.

Even now, she felt like she was dreaming.

Wu Hen had really come back to life.

He was like a boy next door, talking to her on such an awful afternoon, comforting her, and untying the knots in her heart.

"After chatting with you for so long, I still haven't gone home to take a look. My family must miss me a lot," Wu Hen said.

"Oh, I know where they live," Tu Shanlan said.

"Then I'll trouble you,"

Wu Hen was about to go back with Tu Shanlan to visit his parents.

Suddenly, a piercing alarm came from the Patrol Tower.

Before Wu Hen could react, many drones flew out of the building, swiftly locking onto his position like falcons.

The Falcon drones formed a formation, hovering above his head.

Meanwhile, a large group of heavily armed people streamed out from the surrounding buildings. Some wore floating suits, some wore fighting clothes, some piloted light mechas, and some were SuperAbnormals who even in modern clothes arrived here with incredible speed!

"Tu Shanlan, how dare you steal the hero's body!"

"Tu Shanlan, stop your actions immediately!"

"Put your hands up!"

Weapons Wu Hen had never seen before were drawn, their black muzzles aimed at him and Tu Shanlan.

Tu Shanlan showed little fear on her face.

How slow were these people to react? Wu Hen had been awake for a while now, and they were only now responding!

They called themselves the Guard Team, but they were just using Wu Hen's name to arm themselves with donations from everywhere.

"Open your eyes and see clearly, Lord Wu Hen has already awakened!" Tu Shanlan couldn't bear it anymore and finally unleashed all the anger and grievances she had suppressed!

Lord Wu Hen has already awakened??

This statement left the entire over-the-top Guard Team stunned.

A dead person, resurrected??

They had guarded for five years, not even knowing the true significance of their duty, but since people worldwide donated, they had naturally taken their salary while slacking off...

So, this person was actually alive!

Every scanning device focused unanimously on Wu Hen.

All the members of the Guard Team stared at the living, breathing Wu Hen.

Even some people on the street who had been watching the commotion were initially clueless but were increasingly shocked and incredulous as they watched!

He's alive!!

The person who had been mythologized for five years was actually alive!!

The central plaza was not far from here, and these voices quickly reached the open-air meeting of the Longevity Sect.

Many in the Longevity Sect were young people, including some who followed trends. After hearing this news, they were all dumbfounded...

No way??

Are they really being punished by heaven??

They had just toppled Lord Wu Hen's statue, and now Lord Wu Hen had awakened, was he coming to punish them?
