Overdrafting the Future, Starting in Naruto

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: The Art of Pyo!

Chapter 30: The Art of Pyo!

After eating dinner and taking a bath, Kinoshita Genichi returned to his bedroom and lay on his bed.

What achievements will the next ten years bring?

Genichi was full of anticipation. The Yin Seal! The Four Symbols Seal! Swordsmanship! The Kuji-kiri! And also, the Zero-Tails and cell transplantation.

Closing his eyes, Genichi selected "[Overdraft: Ten Years into the Future]".

As the panel exploded into an orb of purple light, Genichi's mind instantly went blank, while every cell in his body trembled as if electrocuted.

A moment later, Genichi's eyelids fluttered, and he opened his eyes. "I finally made it through a full ten years..."

He had overdrafted the future three times. The first time was actually only six years, the second was eight. This time, it was finally a complete ten years, meaning the future point in time he had overdrafted to was March 18, Konoha Year 53.

In that year, he would be seventeen!

A smile spread across Genichi's face. Although this overdraft still hadn't gotten him the Zero-Tails, nor any cell transplantation, and there were no changes in terms of body modification, he had made huge gains in other areas.

Getting out of bed, Genichi walked quickly to the washroom and looked at himself in the mirror. There, on his forehead, was a diamond-shaped mark. It was the mark of the Yin Seal. It had taken his future self until the ninth year to fully master it, which showed just how difficult it was.

"My fear of insufficient chakra has finally been alleviated!" Genichi beamed.

The Yin Seal stored four years' worth of his chakra. If he didn't release it, it would continue to accumulate. Furthermore, his future self had used Sakura Haruno's technique for practicing the Yin Seal, splitting the chakra reservoir into two. A large one and a small one. The large one was the main Yin Seal, while the small one was for daily use. This was to avoid affecting his normal training and combat.

Of course, if the small reservoir wasn't enough, he could stop accumulating chakra. If it still wasn't enough, then he could release the main Yin Seal and unleash the chakra within.

Returning to his bedroom, Genichi picked up his forehead protector and put it on, covering the mark of the Yin Seal. Stay low-key!

Afterward, Genichi slung his sword over his back and went out to the small grove where he often trained.

After taking a few deep breaths, Genichi formed the "Pyo" (兵) hand seal.

Upon completing the seal, Genichi's figure instantly vanished from his original spot, weaving through the forest at high speed and leaving behind a trail of afterimages. A moment later, he returned to where he started, a look of excitement on his face. "After using the Pyo seal, my speed has increased by about a third."

"And it's not just my movement speed, but also my neural reaction speed."

"Or rather, all forms of speed have been enhanced."

"Neural reaction speed, Shunshin speed, hand seal speed..."

I didn't choose the wrong path! The Kuji-kiri were indeed extraordinary and held value worth digging into. Although it was only a one-third increase, this was an additional boost. And Genichi felt that the "Pyo" seal still had great potential. If he continued to study it, he might be able to increase his speed by double, or even more.

However, Genichi also felt it was a pity. In this ten-year overdraft, he had only made gains with the "Pyo" seal. The "Kai" (皆) seal, which he had previously decided to study in depth, had shown no results.

"From now on, I'll call this move... the Art of Pyo!" Genichi smugly gave his new technique a name. In the future, there might also be an Art of Kai, or an Art of Rin.

"My research into the Kuji-kiri must persist for a hundred years without wavering!" Genichi's resolve was further strengthened.

Then, a question occurred to him. Just how strong was he now?

With three overdrafts, he had, by all accounts, trained for twenty-six years. If he did a rough calculation, his current combat power should be equivalent to that of a thirty-one-year-old. At that moment, Genichi felt an impulse to find someone to fight, to test his own mettle.

But then he smiled slightly. Kakashi and Guy had not yet matured. Was he supposed to go find his master, Sakumo? If they really fought, he would probably still get beaten up.

Before, Genichi had thought Sakumo was only a master of swordsmanship. But after becoming his disciple, he learned that was not the case at all. Sakumo, who had mastered all five nature transformations, could use all five types of ninjutsu, and used them with great skill. It was just that he usually used his sword more often.

High speed, high attack, decisive battles, saving time and energy—this was the fighting style of Konoha's White Fang.

"A style, or rather, a tactical system." Genichi thought to himself.

Water clone as a decoy, genjutsu to steal their vision, then close-quarters swordsmanship for the kill. Or, pure close-quarters swordsmanship for the kill. If that doesn't work, switch to large-scale Water Release. If that still doesn't work, use the opportunity to go for a close-quarters sword kill.

In short, he needed to be flexible and make full use of his own advantages.

After thinking through all this, Genichi's mind turned to his plan for the next year, and his future priorities.

"In terms of training, I can't let up on the Kuji-kiri, genjutsu, Wind Release, Water Release, or fūinjutsu."

"And in the future, on the foundation of this training, I will plot to acquire the Samehada sword, the Zero-Tails, and... the Nine-Tails!"

Genichi subconsciously licked his lips. This was the first time he had formally listed the Nine-Tails as a target to plot for.

Of course, Genichi didn't want to kill Uzumaki Kushina. Although he was a bit utilitarian, he wasn't heartless. Not only did he not want to kill her, on the contrary, he wanted to save her. But this didn't conflict with him acquiring the Nine-Tails during the chaos of its attack on the village. After all, he could acquire the Nine-Tails in the future and use it in the present.

However, thinking of this, Genichi became very curious. If his overdrafted future self really did manage to acquire the Zero-Tails or the Nine-Tails, and it then appeared on his present self... what would happen to the Nine-Tails and Zero-Tails that already existed in the present?

...

March 20th.

With his sword at his waist and a backpack on, Genichi appeared at the village gate.

"Looks like this mission won't be simple," Genichi observed. He saw that it wasn't just his own squad gathered at the gate, but another one as well.

After greeting Sakumo and his two teammates, Genichi looked at the other four people. Three of them had very distinct features: from the Yamanaka, Akimichi, and Nara clans. The fourth youth also looked vaguely familiar.

"Genichi, this is Akimichi Dōza, Yamanaka Kei, Nara Kakuto, and Sarutobi Shinnosuke," Sakumo introduced them to Genichi.

Sarutobi Shinnosuke? No wonder he looked familiar. He was the Third Hokage's eldest son, Asuma's older brother, one of the legendary "Eight Colors of Konoha," and was said to be an expert in Earth Release and one of Hiruzen's trusted hands in the Anbu. Of course, right now, Shinnosuke only looked to be twelve or thirteen years old.

Genichi obediently bowed in greeting, calling each of them "senpai."

Shinnosuke and the other three were all gentle and polite. The news that Genichi had been taken as Sakumo's official disciple had already spread throughout Konoha. Even if they didn't consider his reputation as a genius, they had to be polite for Sakumo's sake.

The group didn't exchange too many pleasantries. Once everyone had arrived, Sakumo gave the order, and the group used the Body Flicker Technique to depart from the village.
