Overdrafting the Future, Starting in Naruto

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Tsunade's Change

Chapter 40: Tsunade's Change

Clang!

Metal clashed against metal, sending sparks flying.

Two figures crossed paths, then immediately spun around and returned, their blades swinging rapidly, creating a continuous series of clanging sounds.

Kinoshita Genichi and Kakashi brandished their short swords, attacking each other with their full strength.

Fast, precise, ruthless!

The two of them had learned from the same master. At this moment, their match was a test of their respective reaction speeds and combat talents.

But the more Kakashi fought, the more alarmed he became.

He... seemed to be on the losing end.

How is this guy improving so fast?

Kakashi gritted his teeth, the speed of his blade becoming more urgent, the angles of his strikes more cunning.

Genichi calmly met his attacks. In terms of pure talent for swordsmanship, he was not Kakashi's equal. But in terms of experience, he now had the upper hand, and so in this exchange, he was able to suppress Kakashi.

After dozens of exchanges, the two, who had been locked in a tangled fight, suddenly separated.

Genichi sheathed his sword, but his right hand remained on the hilt. "Kakashi, watch out!"

Kakashi's gaze focused. He knew that the drawing cut was what Genichi practiced the most, and it was an extremely dangerous move.

"Bring it!" Kakashi said in a low voice, and strands of lightning began to spark around his body.

Genichi was surprised to see this, then smiled. "Lightning Release? Are you using it to increase your speed?"

Kakashi said, "I still can't apply Lightning Release to my blade yet."

"Since that's the case, then I'll have to use my full strength as well." Genichi formed a hand seal, activating his Art of Pyo.

The next moment, the two of them dashed towards each other, their speed so great that they left afterimages.

"His speed has increased..." Kakashi was shocked, knowing it must be related to the hand seal Genichi had just formed. His vigilance increased greatly.

In the blink of an eye, the two of them collided.

With a loud clang, their figures crossed paths.

Kakashi rushed forward a certain distance before stopping, looking at the broken sword in his hand.

On the other side, Genichi looked at the new chip in his own short sword with a hint of helplessness. He needed to get a new sword. And he needed to get a tachi, with a wakizashi to go with it. The drawing cut was more suitable for a tachi.

"You win," Kakashi said, turning around.

Genichi sheathed his sword and smiled. "We were just sparring. If it were a life-or-death battle, the outcome would not be so certain." That last strike had nearly twenty-six years of experience behind it.

Kakashi shook his head. "If it were a life-or-death battle, I would have died from that last strike."

"Your reactions are faster than mine." His own use of Lightning Release was still in its preliminary stages for increasing speed. It couldn't yet be used to enhance his neural reaction speed. Genichi's Art of Pyo, however, could enhance him in all aspects. Of course, Genichi's strength was also superior, which was why he was able to break Kakashi's short sword with a single blow. This short sword, however, was not the one that belonged to Sakumo.

...

After sheathing their swords, the two sat down to exchange pointers.

In the end, Kakashi asked, "Genichi, that seal is the secret to your increased speed, isn't it?"

Genichi nodded. "I call it the Art of Pyo."

"What do you think? Not bad, right? The boost it gives is no worse than Lightning Release nature transformation. If you want to learn it, I can teach you!"

Kakashi shook his head. "I've researched them before, but I had no success. I'll pass. Lightning Release isn't bad either."

Genichi nodded. Everyone's talents were different. Doing what you were good at was the most correct choice. If it weren't for his cheat, he wouldn't spend so much time studying Wind Release nature transformation either.

A day of training passed quickly.

That evening, Genichi took Shizune to the Konoha Hospital again, and again, Tsunade followed.

However, he felt that today's Tsunade was a little different. She wasn't drinking. And she no longer had that lazy, listless look, as if life had no meaning.

Did my words from yesterday have some effect?

After a fleeting thought, Genichi put it out of his mind and continued his research in earnest, carrying out various experiments.

"The rejection in cell transplantation might be solvable with drugs," Tsunade's voice came from behind him as he was busy working.

Genichi turned his head and smiled. "That is indeed one solution."

"However, I don't have the conditions or the knowledge base to do that."

Tsunade was noncommittal. "Your talent is very high. You could try developing your own kekkei genkai. You don't necessarily have to rely on transplanting cells."

"You should know, the more powerful the force, the harder it is to control, and the more dangerous it is." Tsunade knew very well that the Hashirama Cell transplant experiments in the past had cost Konoha dearly. Especially the Senju Clan... If not for that experiment, perhaps the Land of Whirlpools would not have been destroyed.

Faced with Tsunade's advice, Genichi readily accepted it. "I do have ideas for self-development."

"But as for cell transplantation, it's not just for obtaining a kekkei genkai. It can also be used to treat diseases."

"For example, problems with hematopoiesis or immunity can be solved with bone marrow transplants to restore hematopoietic and immune functions."

"Besides blood relative matching, there is also a certain chance of a successful match between unrelated individuals. This requires a vast database."

Tsunade listened with a thoughtful expression. "That is indeed a massive undertaking. But if one wanted to do it, it's not impossible."

Genichi's eyes lit up.

The discussion continued. And as it deepened, Tsunade unknowingly began to get hands-on as well. Compared to this, Konoha's number one medical ninja, Genichi was no different from a primary school student. He began to obsessively absorb the rich and delicious nutrients of knowledge from Tsunade.

Of course, don't get the wrong idea. He wasn't talking about those two balls.

Before they knew it, it was eleven o'clock. Genichi had to end the session and reluctantly went home.

The next day.

Genichi arrived at Kakashi's house to find that Kakashi had already gone out on a mission.

"Genichi, this is the ninjutsu you asked for," Sakumo said, taking out a scroll.

"Thank you, Sensei!" Genichi took it with a smile.

Sakumo said, "Inside, besides the reward from the village, there are also the techniques we obtained from that Ice Release ninja. But they are not complete."

Genichi opened the scroll, his eyes quickly scanning the contents.

Water Severing Wave. This was an A-rank ninjutsu, clearly the reward for capturing the ice ninja.

Then there was Water Release: Thousand Killings Water Soaring, Water Release: Hidden Mist Technique, Ice Release: Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystals, Ice Release: Ice Armor, and Ice Release: Ice Senbon.

There were quite a few ninjutsu, but none of them were complete.

"It's an unexpected bonus anyway. They'll be good for research," Genichi said, not minding. He then put away the scroll. "Sensei, I want to learn a Wind Release ninjutsu."

Sakumo said, "To counter ninjutsu like the Hidden Mist Technique?"

"No problem. I'll teach you the C-rank jutsu, Great Breakthrough, first."

"You've already grasped the basics of Wind Release nature transformation. It shouldn't be difficult to master."

A C-rank ninjutsu represented chunin-level difficulty. Being able to perform Wind Release nature transformation, even if it was just cutting leaves, was enough to master it. And the Great Breakthrough jutsu wasn't about the cutting power of wind, but about blowing people away, so the requirement for nature transformation wasn't very high.

After getting the jutsu, Genichi went out to train. There was still a long time until his next future overdraft. He naturally couldn't just wait to use the future for his training. He had to master the Water Severing Wave as soon as possible.
