Pampered By All In Different Planes

Chapter 438: Hoarding Thousands upon Thousands for Natural Disasters, Raising a Child, I Let It Go 26_3

Su Zhiruan looked at the ring in his ring box and took a close look for a few seconds.

Only then did she realize that this ring was not the kind found in ordinary malls — compared to the intricately crafted wedding bands there, this ring didn't look as exquisite or glamorous, and even seemed a bit clumsy.

But her name was engraved on one side of it.

Su Zhiruan.

Not in English initials, nor a simple word, but her full three-character Chinese name, engraved in small, neat, and delicate script.

There appeared to be a tiny heart after her name.

Su Zhiruan chuckled lightly, then extended her hand, teasing him, "Mr. Wen, what you just said sounded like wedding vows."

Seeing her reach out her hand, Wen Qingyu's eyes immediately lit up with excitement.

He took out the ring and put it on her ring finger — it fit perfectly, snug and precise.

This was a result of the many midnights when he'd quietly risen to measure with a fine thread, his efforts were not off by even a hair's breadth, and now, as he looked, he saw he had measured without any error.

"Did you make this yourself?" Su Zhiruan asked, after putting on the ring and looking at it carefully. She had only glanced at it briefly before, but now she could see even clearer.

Apart from her name and the tiny heart, there were three barely noticeable dots of water behind the heart.

Three dots of water.

It was a radical.

With a bit of thought, Su Zhiruan could guess that Wen Qingyu originally wanted to engrave his own name as well, but for some reason, he didn't do it.

Seeing her agree, Wen Qingyu completely relaxed. As Su Zhiruan examined the three dots closely, a flicker of nervousness crossed his eyes.

"Did you want to engrave your name here as well? Why didn't you do it in the end?" Su Zhiruan asked, turning to him and pointing at the three dots of water.

"I..." Wen Qingyu lowered his eyes, hesitating, but seeing the curious look on Su Zhiruan's face, he began to explain, "I thought, if you refused the proposal, at least I could still give you the ring under some other pretense. If there was no engraving of my name, you wouldn't refuse to accept it."

Su Zhiruan sighed, reached out, and hugged him, "Since you've engraved my name, I should engrave yours too."

"Let me do it, be careful not to hurt your hand."

Wen Qingyu's smile brightened considerably.

He took an engraving tool from the cabinet, carefully removed the ring from Su Zhiruan's hand, and then the two of them huddled together secretly, consulting on how to engrave both names.

The news of Wen Qingyu's successful proposal spread quickly throughout the entire base.

People had endured hardships for too long, and when finally there was such a joyful occasion, some began to make preparations to organize a wedding for them — to offset the gloomy mood since the disaster with a bit of celebration.

As founders of the base, Su Zhiruan and Wen Qingyu carried not a few responsibilities, bustling about every day, not only in charge of internal construction within the base but also of national call-to-actions and strategic planning for construction. There were lots of things to deal with, but their abilities were evident to everyone at the base; under their stewardship, the base had been improving more and more.

Grandpa Wen and Grandma Wen, knowing Su Zhiruan had decided to keep the baby, were both distressed and delighted, especially Grandma Wen, who gave all she could to Su Zhiruan, passing on various experiences and staying by her side to help her relax.

Su Zhiruan's pregnancy was no secret. It had been a very long time since a newborn baby had come into the base. When they first arrived, there were women pregnant with children, but for various reasons, none of the children had survived, so the youngest child in the base was now three or four years old.

Therefore, if the child in Su Zhiruan's womb were to be born, it would be the newest and smallest baby in the base.

In the midst of the strange and extreme weather, new life often signified hope and birth, and most people were also worried about whether Su Zhiruan might harm her health. Hence, the women of the base tried every means to keep her company.

In the end, Su Zhiruan quite became the base's most beloved figure; wherever she went, there was always a crowd urging, "Slow down, slow down," following her, afraid that she would stumble or bump into something. Sometimes, even Wen Qingyu, her fiancé, couldn't even get close to his future wife.

Soon, their wedding day was upon them.

Conditions were simple now, but everyone was working together, trying their best to prepare a grand wedding for them.

The wedding dress was a gorgeous bridal gown completed by the women taking turns in shifts.

On it, a phoenix was embroidered, lifelike and vivid.
