Chapter 1035 - 1032: Returning the Favor
Chapter 1035: Chapter 1032: Returning the Favor
She was a married woman, yet she had contact with another man.
This was utterly disgraceful.
What initially seemed to Ye Muyu as a trap at a banquet, ended quite bizarrely with no losses to her apart from being shunned by the ladies’ circle of Yuzhou.
It was Lin Mianmian who, upon returning to the residence, ended up smashing quite a few things in her own room.
Ye Muyu chose to ignore it since the damage was to her own dowry and the residence suffered no losses; she couldn’t be bothered to intervene.
A night of good sleep.
The following morning.
Ye Muyu prepared a list of gifts and had the housekeeper deliver her written apology to where King Qi was staying, along with the list of gifts.
Now that the households in Yuzhou Prefecture were intentionally isolating her, it meant that Chu Heng’s work became much more difficult. Naturally, she didn’t want to offend a prince as well.
With this gesture well performed, it wouldn’t cause any embarrassment to King Qi, nor would it spread any unsavory rumors. She also clarified her position, turning the event into a misunderstanding.
In the afternoon, Steward Luo returned.
“My lady, I didn’t see King Qi. I only delivered the letter and the list of gifts,” he said.
“King Qi’s subordinate accepted them and said that there should be no further mention of this matter.”
“That is very good,” Ye Muyu didn’t want any relationship with King Qi at all, much less to be involved due to Lin Mianmian’s issue. With this, the matter was resolved.
Unexpectedly, this also put Lin Mianmian at a disadvantage. Speaking of which, much thanks to Qingqing’s help.
Ye Muyu dismissed Steward Luo and then entered the kitchen.
Su Mei and Chun Xing assisted her.
“My lady, are you preparing all this food to give to someone?” Su Mei asked curiously.
Ye Muyu had recently been entrusting the household supplies management to Su Mei, finding her to be a practical and cautious person. She often kept her close, and their relationship grew progressively closer.
“Yes, you’ll personally deliver it to Qingqing later,” Ye Muyu replied.
Su Mei understood; she had also accompanied her to the boat yesterday and naturally knew who Zhao Qingqing was.
Ye Muyu made marinated chicken feet, fish with pickled cabbages, Dongpo pork, West Lake vinegar fish, lotus leaf steamed meat, and various styles of pastries. They were all in small quantities, but diversified in flavors.
After finishing up, Ye Muyu had Su Mei deliver the food to the Zhao residence, then she returned to the courtyard to continue with the accounts.
That evening, Zhao Qingqing received the dishes made by Ye Muyu.
She declined Madam Zhao’s invitation to dine in the front courtyard and decided to cook in her own small courtyard, reheating each dish.
When the dishes were served, the aroma was overwhelming, and Zhao Qingqing’s mouth watered greedily.
Her maidservants were also attracted by the smell: “Young miss, who made this food? Why does it smell so delicious?”
“My Sister Ye,” Zhao Qingqing said proudly with a smile. Once the plates were set, she couldn’t wait to grab her chopsticks and start picking up the food. Her movements were slow, but she amazed her maidservants as she swiftly devoured the dishes.
It was only when Zhao Qingqing burped satisfactorily and looked somewhat pitifully at the remaining half of her meal: “Ah, it’s so delicious. Why can’t I have two stomachs!”
“Young miss, is it really that tasty?” While the maidservants had already smelled the aroma, they had not tasted it themselves, so it didn’t seem quite real.
Hearing her maidservant’s question, Zhao Qingqing reacted strongly: “Quick, help me freeze all these dishes. I want to eat them again tomorrow!”
“Young miss, you want to eat leftovers?” The maidservant exclaimed in surprise.
Zhao Qingqing declared confidently, “You don’t understand. Food this delicious is tasty even as leftovers. If it weren’t for the fact that my stomach really couldn’t hold anymore, I definitely would have continued eating.”
