Chapter 170: Chapter 170
**Chapter 170: Deeply Touched**
Zhao Ling held the two inferior spirit stones in his palm, absorbing the remaining 20% of their energy. The energy was pure and harmless, leaving him feeling revitalized. As the absorption completed, the stones turned gray and crumbled to dust, disappearing without a trace.
Having finished, Zhao Ling returned to the bow of the Cloud Piercing Shuttle and activated the autonomous flight function. Two devices rose from the deck near the rudder—one displaying direction, the other a current map of the Douluo Continent.
He tapped on Poseidon Island on the map, and the direction indicator aligned itself. The shuttle rose smoothly from the ground, turned, and began its journey toward Poseidon Island.
Zhao Ling returned to Poseidon's side, wrapped his arms around her, and smirked mischievously.
"Xi'er, my dear, you must be tired after soaking in the hot spring. Let your husband carry you to the cabin so you can rest."
Poseidon swatted his hand away playfully, pouting.
"No, you shameless husband! Haven't you tortured me enough these past few days? Even in the hot spring, you couldn't behave. Do you even know how to cherish me?"
Chastised, Zhao Ling chuckled and refrained from teasing her further.
"Fine, Xi'er. Then let's stay here. I'll hold you at the bow, and we can enjoy the scenery together."
He pulled Poseidon into his embrace, wrapping an arm around her waist. Sensing that he didn't intend to act improperly, Poseidon relaxed, leaning against his chest.
The view from above was breathtaking, with the Douluo Continent's landscapes rolling by beneath them. Poseidon marveled at the sight, finding it a unique and exhilarating experience.
For Zhao Ling, it felt reminiscent of a scene from the movie Titanic—standing at the bow with the wind rushing past, enjoying the view alongside the woman he loved. Yet, the thought of Titanic's tragic ending brought an unexpected wave of melancholy.
His sadness puzzled him. Why should he feel this way? Poseidon and I are powerful Title Douluo, not fragile mortals like Jack and Rose. There's no way we'll end up separated like them.
Shaking off the odd mood, Zhao Ling buried his face in the crook of Poseidon's neck, inhaling her delicate fragrance.
Poseidon tilted her head slightly. "Husband, is something wrong?"
"It's nothing," Zhao Ling replied, smiling faintly. "I just thought of a touching story."
Poseidon's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "What story? Tell me, Xi'er wants to hear it!"
Zhao Ling hesitated. "No, it's not a happy story. I don't think you'll like it."
But Poseidon was persistent, pouting adorably. "Please, tell me! If you don't, Xi'er will ignore you."
Her playful tone suddenly faltered as she realized what she had said. Her cheeks flushed a deep red, and she lowered her gaze in embarrassment.
How could she act like a spoiled child in front of someone so much younger than her? she thought, mortified. Despite being an Ultimate Douluo, Poseidon couldn't shake her shyness.
Noticing her embarrassment, Zhao Ling burst into laughter, his previous melancholy lifting. He decided to share the story of Titanic after all.
As Poseidon listened, her face lit up at the tale of two strangers falling in love. Her beautiful eyes sparkled with thoughts of her and Zhao Ling's future.
But when the story reached its tragic climax—the sinking ship and the hero sacrificing himself to save the heroine—her expression crumpled. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she clung tightly to Zhao Ling.
"Why does it have to end like that?" she sobbed. "They loved each other so much. Why couldn't they have a happy ending?"
Zhao Ling stroked her back gently, suppressing a smile. "Xi'er, don't cry. It's just a story."
He didn't tell her that Titanic was based on true events. The love story of Jack and Rose might have been fictional, but similar sacrifices had occurred when the real ship sank.
After a while, Poseidon calmed down and wiped her tears. A sudden thought struck her, and she looked up at Zhao Ling, her expression puzzled.
"Husband, why didn't anyone in the story have martial souls or soul power? If they were Soul Masters, they wouldn't have died so easily."
Zhao Ling was momentarily speechless. He raised his hand and playfully patted her on the rear.
"Silly girl, not everyone is like us. On the Douluo Continent, how many people can even become Soul Masters? Most people don't have the aptitude. Out of billions of people, only a tiny fraction—perhaps one in a thousand—possess soul power."
Poseidon nodded thoughtfully. "That's true. But on Poseidon Island, things are a little different. Out of 7,000 people, 3,500 are Soul Masters. Then again, many of them came from the mainland. I suppose we can't judge Poseidon Island by ordinary standards."
Zhao Ling smiled at her realization, holding her closer as they continued their journey.
