Chapter 19: Breaking a leg and a mind.
I broke down the door. The spirit was hiding somewhere in the house as I was letting everyone inside.
Why would I do that if I could just find and kill it?
Well, for one I wanted to play a game of tag, but more deadly then the spirit would probably like. But who the fuck cared about what it wanted. It hurt children and kidnapped them there was no opinion the spirit would be allowed to have.
Once most of us had entered we started to walk, float or sneak through the house. Of course none of us actually cared about being heard.
The spirit, which all of us could literally see, was hiding inside of a fridge and apparently hoping that we wouldn't look inside of it.
I decided it would be more fun to trick it into coming out on its own and then jump it.
I used the illusion skill to make it sound like I was leaving the house, asked the specters to bring me a chair to sit in and had them close the door.
After that I sat down in the chair and waited.
Everything grew quiet and soon after a few minutes the fridge opened.
"What the fuck was that. Did someone find out about us? Maybe I should tell the elders. They wouldn't like to be caught of guard."was the first thing the spirit said. And then, after finally leaving the fridge completely, it saw us. All of us.
" Shit."
"You should start talking now or this will get ugly very fast." I warned the spirit.
Now that I saw it directly without the use of any skills or abilities I could guess a few thing.
First, this spirit, while it was connected to the wind, had probably never heard of Domains.
Second, it had never once trained itself. There was nothing about this spirit that spoke of strength.
And last but not least. This spirit knew a few things, probably just enough to allow me to complete the mission but not even remotely enough to shut the organization behind it down.
So it was entirely useless to me. Sure I could interrogate it, torture it even, but I would get all of its information on the children's whereabouts once I killed it anyway. So why would I try my hands on something I had no experience with.
This resulted in me going straight to torture. What, don't tell me you wouldn't. But how would I torture it?
Well for one I had chains that could bind it, the chains of nightmares, and then there was the fact that every being in this house was able to interact aka touch the spirit without any need for tools.
So what happened? I grabbed its head and smashed it into a wall before pushing it towards the bathroom, grabbing a towel and waterborded the everloving fuck out of it.
Once I was done with that I brought it back to the living room and let it run out of the house. We all gave it a 10 second head start before chasing after it.
The hunt took around an hour before we finally gave up on playing games with it.
We cornored it in an ally, I broke both of its legs and then let the Hounds and specters have a go at it.
[You have killed 1 of the spirits responsible.
2 are left remaining.]
I realized pretty soon after that I couldn't possibly complete the rescue mission tonight but I would definitely be able to complete the elimination mission.
We took our time with the other remaining two spirits and finished shortly before the sun would rise.
The ritual was now over and the deceased disappeared from the world of the living.
At the end of the night, I had all the information I could have possibly wanted from them and then some more.
Apparently the organization called itself the Wave of dawn. Did it sound cool as hell, yes but sadly for them, their agenda was everything I stood against.
They wanted to rule the seasons, which already was kind of impossible since there were gods governing the season of spring and summer and causing the seasons of fall and winter. Then of course there were the gods themselves with the primordial and other such things, even other pantheons which stood in their way and as I had learned none of the active spirits were anywhere close to those levels.
Their chosen way of achieving it was also equally brain dead. They kidnapped children and brought them to clients, who would do whatever the hell they wanted to them, instead of just grooming and manipulating them into being their child soldiers.
What did they receive in return for their services? Favours and IOUs. Seriously this organization just bad at what they did.
The elders the first spirit had mentioned? They were barely above level 5 in power but not even strong enough to enter level 6.
Their only advantage was numbers and the fact that up until now, no one had fucking realized what they had been doing for 6 fucking years!
And worse of all, you remember their plot of taking over the seasons? They had decided to start with autumn for some inherently stupid reason, as there was literally only one spirit that would ever be allowed to rule seasons and the spirit of this particular one happend to be me.
Like at this point it actually just looked like the entire organization was just begging to be killed.
Anyway, after the sun had risen and I had made it back to school, I had time to prepare for what I would do in the following night.
After all, since it was now Autumn, my need for sleep and any signs or symptoms of sleep deprivation had essentially been erased from existence for the duration of the season.
[Yes Host. You have received three bloodlines in the last Gacha. It is advised for you to use them as soon as possible.]
I decided to follow this advice but my instincts made me hesitate before consuming the bloodlines. The skill corrupt came to mind and then I had a fantastic idea. What would happen if I used it on the bloodlines. So, curious as I was, I took out the three bloodlines, demonic, Anubis and elven and used corrupt on it.
The end result was spectacular and necessary for the future but sadly most of them, just like my demigod powers were tied to the day of being claimed.
