Chapter 24: The King of Autumn and another stint of sightseeing.
It had been some time since I had completed the first mission and partially the second one.
The children, which I had rescued, were now living inside of my workshop. More specifically the add on I recently got, which was essentially a small cabin inside of the woods with a crystal clear lake right in front of its front door.
The inside of the cabin was larger than it should be, always having enough rooms for everyone inside and making new ones appear when needed.
It took a while to get the children to actually trust me, as I was still stuck in my Leshen Form.
To my luck the system had already assured me that, even thought some of the changes would stay, the full transformation would be saved as a separate Template by my Wardrobe Skill.
There had been a few rewards given to me by the system for completing the quest.
One was the titel: King of Autumn.
With it came the right to claim the entire season as my true domain, making it both stronger, easier to be controlled and allowing me to take subordinates.
Then there was the Item World Travel Ticket. Which would teleport me into another world for a time, in this case six months, to lern new things and train a specific set of skills and abilities. Time in my home world would be frozen during it so no one would even notice it.
Of course I couldn't forget about the skill: Shadow Puppet. It was a bit complicated but also simple in nature. Think Shadow Clone Jutsu but instead of having separate minds that later on, after being destroyed, fuse together, this skill connected both minds together, making me and the puppet experience two things at the same mind. Like a hivemind.
This allowed me to continue with the quests while still "attending" school without having to act suspicious or seeking out at night.
Another neat thing was that, while still a puppet it was more resilient than one, it's body could be about as strong as mine but instead I placed and limited it to a normal level for a mortal.
Now the second quest had already been partially done. I had already found out their name, their intentions and rescued 6 from the 16 missing children. Thanks to their short stay with Bogey their recovery was mostly related to healing small scrapes and letting them be themselves. They eventually got to trust me enough to sit down together with me, have dinner and discuss their future.
I wanted them to be safe, sure I could just kick them out, do barely enough to finish the quests or anything like that but I didn't want to. These were children we talk about and some of them were even demigods.
One of them was a child of Appolo named Micheal Yew.
Another a child of Hephestus named Charles Beckendorf and a daughter of Aphrodite named Silena Beauregard.
All three were know for dying shortly before and during the Battle of Manhatten.
The other three children were an unclaimed demigod name Ethan Black. I couldn't tell who his parent was just yet.
The last two where girls, both demigods and both smeeled unfamiliar but it was quite obvious they were demigods too. Their names were Gwendolyn Mercer and Jessica Rowl.
They had a lot of nightmares during the first two weeks of them staying with me. But as time went on and I continued to help them calm down each time, they slowly started to recover and the nightmares left them.
After their stay of one week Charles, Silena and Micheal told me that they had been on their way to camp when they had been kidnapped while the other three had been picked up from the streets.
At the end of their second week I asked them if they wanted to be my subordinates. At first the reacted strongly against it but the i managed to have them listen to me.
I told them that if they decided to say yes, I would always know where they were, be able to hear them if they needed help and to practically teleport to them, as it was my duty to protect them if necessary.
This wasn't realy enough for them but after a bit of discussion they agreed on the condition that they would get weapons made by myself, keep the armor I had given them during the rescue and later on give them both a cool codename and a work uniform.
Personally I think the last two were inspired by several TV Series about different government and secret agencies.
I agreed no the less as even I had to say that their ideas were not bad.
Once I had managed to get them to agree I decided it was time to finish the second quest.
This time I prepared a lot. My next destination was after all the literal christian hell, with all those demons and what not.
Worse of all I knew this enemy, the one who bought the last 10 children, was most definitely a sex demon. So I expected the worst and I was ready to kill everything there that threatened the children and the success of my mission. I just hoped that the king of hell wouldn't notice me.
Once again I prepared armors but this time I made them a wards heme that would teleport them here, into the home dimension.
I considered my current body and wisely left the sword at home, put on the Gauntlets, chains, bow, scythe and brought both the armored car and the anti tank rifle with me.
This demon was not going to survive.
So once again I began following the traces left behind and the memories of the spirits I had killed.
Also this time, since I was already in my Leshen for I expected nothing suddenly to change once I was there but I wouldn't bet my live on it. After all I still had that demon bloodline inside of me and entering hell might accidentally activate it.
It took about an hour to find the place where the exchange with the Demon had happened. It was within the city, inside of an abandoned underground train station. The stairs towards it had been closed and bricked up. I had to find a different entrance but eventually found one.
I traveled down the dark tunnel until I found myself inside of the train station. There was a summoning circle burnt into the tiles on the wall away from the tracks.
Once I neared it I pressed my claws against it and pushed my mana inside.
The circle glowed red and then the wall broke away making room for a portal leading into a dark forest with red and black skies above it.
As I entered a small prick on my back appeared but it was gone before I could even react to it.
