Chapter 7: Match Teacher
As Hikari and Percy were in there class waiting for there teacher a woman walked in, and just by seeing her Hikari got a bad felling
The teacher looked at them. "I am you all new Match Teacher my name is Ms Dodds"
Hikari saw Grover moved in his seat, almost like he was cursing, but right now he was going to put that in the back of his mind.
Ms. Dodds scanned the classroom with a piercing gaze, her eyes lingering a little too long on both Percy and Hikari. Hikari shifted uncomfortably, trying to shake off the weird feeling gnawing at him. Percy, beside him, seemed just as uneasy, his instincts telling him that something was off.
Ms. Dodds spoke again, her voice sharp. "We will start today's lesson with fractions and equations. Let's see if you can handle some real math."
Hikari whispered to Percy, "Why do I feel like she's more interested in us than teaching fractions?"
Percy shrugged but kept glancing between Grover and Ms. Dodds. Grover was fidgeting, clearly on edge, but not saying anything.
As the lesson continued, Hikari's sense of unease grew. Something about Ms. Dodds felt wrong. Almost... unnatural.
As Ms. Dodds moved around the classroom, her heels clicking ominously against the floor, Hikari couldn't help but feel the air grow tense. She kept glancing at him and Percy, as if sizing them up. Grover, sitting near the back, was gripping his pencil so tightly it looked like it would snap any second.
Ms. Dodds suddenly stopped behind Hikari's desk. She leaned in slightly, her shadow looming over him. "Hikari, why don't you solve this equation on the board?"
Hikari nodded, trying to stay calm. He got up, but the closer he got to the board, the more the back of his neck prickled. As he reached for the chalk, he glanced at Ms. Dodds. Her expression seemed to shift for a moment—her eyes gleaming yellow, her face briefly contorting into something monstrous before snapping back to normal.
Hikari froze, his hand hovering over the board.
"You alright?" Ms. Dodds asked, her voice sugary sweet but with an edge that sent chills down his spine.
Percy leaned forward, noticing Hikari's hesitation. "Hey, you good?"
Hikari blinked, shaking his head. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," he muttered before quickly solving the equation, his mind racing with what he'd just seen. He returned to his seat, but the sense of dread lingered.
As the class continued, the atmosphere only worsened. Ms. Dodds kept pacing, her presence unsettling. Hikari noticed Percy looking increasingly anxious as well, as if he too could sense something was wrong.
Finally, the bell rang, and everyone began gathering their things. Grover shot out of his seat so fast it was like he'd been waiting for the escape.
But before Hikari and Percy could follow, Ms. Dodds called out, "Percy, Hikari, I need to see you both for a moment."
The rest of the class trickled out, leaving the two of them alone with her.
Percy swallowed. "What's this about?"
Ms. Dodds smiled, but it wasn't a friendly smile. "Oh, just something important you two need to hear. You won't be leaving this room until we've had a little... chat."
Hikari's heart raced. He glanced at Percy, then at the door. Whatever was coming, it wasn't going to be good.
Ms Dodds looked at them. "You Hikari your good with Math, and you my Percy Jackson.... Will what can I say"
Hikari looked at her. "It that all"
Ms Dodds looked at him. "Yes young lady"
Hikari just looked at her. "I am a boy"
Ms Dodds just looked at them. "Um ok, you two can leave"
They both bolted, as then Chiron came into the room as they looked at eachother.
Chiron looked at her. "What do you want with my students".
Ms. Dodds' eyes narrowed as she looked at Chiron, her once calm demeanor shifting into something more hostile. Her lips curled into a smirk, and there was a flicker of something dangerous in her gaze.
"Oh, Chiron," she said, her voice low and mocking. "Do you really think you can protect them forever? The prophecy is already in motion. You know as well as I do that those two boys are more than they seem. They're destined for something much greater... and much darker."
Chiron stood firm, his expression serious. "You're not taking them, Alecto. Not here, not today."
Ms. Dodds—or rather Alecto, one of the Furies—let out a hissing laugh, her form beginning to distort. Her hands curled into claws, and her eyes blazed with malice. "We'll see about that, Chiron. But for now, consider this a warning. You can't hide them from what's coming."
With a gust of wind, Alecto's form began to dissolve into dark smoke, her voice lingering in the room. "Soon enough, they will face their fate, and no amount of protection will stop it."
As the last of the smoke disappeared, Chiron sighed heavily, rubbing his temples. "This is going to be much harder than I thought."
He needed to prepare Percy and Hikari for the inevitable, but with the forces of the Underworld already circling them, time was running out faster than expected.
Later that day in History class, as everyone was waiting for there teacher as someone arrived as it was another woman, and this time Hikari felt no worry from her as she looked at all them.
The teacher looked. "My name is Pspper potts, and I am your history teacher"..
Hikari looked at her. "I like her more"
Pepper looked at all the students and picked up ehe text book. "Today we will learning about American greatest Hero and his exploit, he is know as the super soldier, Captain America"
As Pepper Potts began the lesson, the class grew attentive. She flipped through the textbook and projected an image of Captain America on the screen.
Pepper smiled as she pointed to the picture. "Captain America, or Steve Rogers, is more than just a war hero. He's a symbol of hope, justice, and perseverance during one of the darkest periods in history. Created as part of the Super Soldier Program during World War II, he fought for freedom against the Axis powers and became a legendary figure in American history."
Hikari, now fully engaged, whispered to Percy. "Okay, history just got way cooler."
Percy nodded in agreement, leaning in a little closer to listen. "Yeah, I think I like this class."
Pepper continued, clearly passionate about the subject. "What many don't realize is that Captain America wasn't just a soldier. He embodied the ideals of what it means to be a hero—not just on the battlefield, but in everyday life. His greatest strength wasn't his superhuman abilities, but his heart, his unshakable moral compass."
She paused, looking around at the students. "Now, let me ask you all: what do you think it means to be a hero? And I don't mean just in terms of strength or power."
Hikari raised his hand eagerly. "A hero is someone who does the right thing even when it's hard. It's about putting others before yourself, no matter the cost."
Pepper smiled warmly at his answer. "Exactly, Hikari. Being a hero is about more than just physical abilities. It's about integrity, empathy, and standing up for what's right, no matter the odds."
The lesson continued, but Hikari couldn't help but feel a growing sense of inspiration. He thought about the challenges he and Percy would face, about the prophecy, and the looming dangers. Maybe, just maybe, they had the potential to become something more—something heroic, like Captain America.
As the history lesson progressed, Pepper Potts delved deeper into the exploits of Captain America. She explained his role in fighting Hydra, his friendships with fellow Soldiers, and how he became a symbol of hope during trying times.
Hikari was completely absorbed in the lesson. Every story about Captain America's bravery resonated with him. Percy, on the other hand, was more interested in the shield, leaning over to whisper, "I wonder if that thing's indestructible."
Hikari shrugged. "Maybe you'll get to try something like that one day. Who knows? This world's already weird enough."
After class ended, the students gathered their things. As they exited the room, Percy glanced over at Hikari, deep in thought.
"You really liked that, didn't you?" Percy asked.
Hikari nodded, a little smile on his face. "Yeah. It just got me thinking about what kind of hero I want to be... or if I even have a choice in the matter."
Percy raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Hikari hesitated. "I don't know, it's just... we keep running into strange things. First Ms. Dodds, now Grover's weird vibes, and don't even get me started on those looks we get from the other students. There's something big going on, Percy. I can feel it."
Percy, though unsure, could sense the seriousness in Hikari's words. "You think it's about us being demigods?"
"Maybe," Hikari said softly. "But I feel like it's more than that. And we'll need to be ready for whatever comes next."
Just as they were about to continue, Grover ran up to them, out of breath.
"Guys, we need to talk," Grover panted, looking around nervously. "Mr. Brunner wants to see you both—now."
Percy exchanged a glance with Hikari. "Why?"
Grover glanced nervously down the hallway. "Just come with me. Trust me, you'll want to hear this."
Without questioning further, they followed Grover down the hall, their nerves on edge. Whatever it was, it couldn't be good. They arrived at Mr. Brunner's office, but before they could knock, the door opened, and Chiron greeted them with a serious expression.
"Come in, boys," he said calmly, his eyes filled with concern.
As they entered the office, the room felt heavier, as if a secret long kept was about to be unveiled. Chiron stood in front of them, his hands clasped.
"I've kept this from you long enough," Chiron began. "But it's time you both learned the truth. There's a reason you're here, and it's more than just education or chance."
Percy and Hikari exchanged looks, the air thick with anticipation.
"You are both far more important than you realize," Chiron said, locking eyes with both of them. "The Fates have chosen you for something much bigger than any of us can comprehend."
Hikari's mind raced. Captain America was a hero, yes, but did that mean they were destined for something just as big, or even bigger?
Percy took a deep breath. "Okay, what do we need to do?"
Chiron's expression softened slightly, but the gravity of his words remained. "You need to be ready for the journey ahead, both of you. Your heritage, your powers... everything will soon be tested."
Hikari clenched his fists. "I knew it. This isn't just about school."
"No," Chiron confirmed, his voice serious. "It's about survival."
Percy looked at him. "We're is this going, I need to know we need to know"
Hikari looked at Chiron. "Are... We demi god"
Chrion looked at Hikari. "Yout very smart kid Hikari".
Percy looked at him and spoke. "This is so awesome"
Hikari spoke. "This is terrifying"
Percy looked at his Step Brother with confusion. "What?"
Hikari just looked at him. "Almost all demi gods have bad ending, only one that did not get is Perseus aka your name shake and Heracles/Hercules Grandfather".
Percy stared at Hikari, trying to process what he had just said. "Wait, bad endings? What are you talking about?"
Hikari sighed, rubbing his temples. "Percy, in almost every myth, demigods either die young or live tragic lives. Most of them don't get a happy ending, no matter how strong they are. Even heroes like Achilles, Theseus, and Atalanta—none of them got out without suffering. Only a few, like Perseus, your namesake, managed to live somewhat peacefully. But Heracles… he went through hell."
Percy's excitement dimmed as he processed that. "So... being a demigod is dangerous?"
Chiron nodded solemnly. "Very. As a demigod, you're constantly at risk—monsters will be drawn to you, the gods will watch your every move, and fate is often unkind to those who carry divine blood."
Percy clenched his fists. "But... if it's so dangerous, why are we here? Why us?"
Chiron's expression softened. "Because you have the potential to change things, Percy. You and Hikari both. Your futures aren't set in stone like the myths of old. You have the power to forge your own path, but it won't be easy."
Hikari crossed his arms, eyes narrowed in thought. "So, what now? We're supposed to just wait for monsters to come after us?"
Chiron shook his head. "No, we need to prepare you both. You need to be trained in combat, to understand your powers and your heritage. But first, we need to figure out who your godly parents are. That will determine your path."
Percy looked at Chiron with determination. "Then let's figure it out. I'm ready."
Hikari, however, was more reserved. "Ready or not, I have a feeling this is just the beginning of something way bigger than we realize."
Chiron nodded. "You're both right. This is the beginning, but with the right guidance, you can both make it through."
Percy grinned, trying to stay positive. "Alright then, let's get started."
But Hikari, with his knowledge of myths and the lurking danger, couldn't shake the sense that their journey was going to be far more perilous than Percy realized.
Hikari just looked at Chiron. "Why tell us they now, why not with until we are older we are 12"
Chiron just looked at them. "Will we have been waiting for 1 year already, and we are going too Museum and I thought it my best time"
Hikari just looked at with a deadpan face. "You have made on to my personal shit list Mr Brunner"
Chiron raised an eyebrow at Hikari's bluntness, his expression a mix of amusement and seriousness. "I can understand your frustration, Hikari, but the world we live in requires urgency. The sooner you know the truth, the better prepared you'll be."
Hikari crossed his arms, still unimpressed. "Prepared for what? To be chased by monsters and gods? That sounds like a fantastic time."
Percy interjected, trying to lighten the mood. "Come on, Hikari. At least we're not alone in this. We have Chiron, and we'll probably make more friends along the way."
Hikari shot him a skeptical glance. "Yeah, because that's what I want. Friends who might die because of our demigod status."
Chiron's tone turned serious. "Hikari, you're not wrong to feel that way. The path of a demigod is filled with dangers, but there's strength in unity. Your friends can help you face those challenges."
"I just want to be a normal kid," Hikari muttered, frustration seeping into his voice. "Is that too much to ask?"
Chiron softened his expression. "Normal is a relative term for children like you. The world needs heroes, Hikari, and it seems you're destined to be one. But that doesn't mean you can't have a semblance of a normal life amidst the chaos."
Percy chimed in. "Besides, we can make our own normal. Just think of all the cool stuff we could do! Imagine training with swords and battling monsters! That's way cooler than a normal life."
Hikari couldn't help but roll his eyes. "You really have a weird definition of 'cool,' you know that?"
Chiron smiled slightly. "It's true. Adventure comes with its own set of challenges, but it also brings a sense of purpose. You'll have each other to lean on. And perhaps, it'll make the journey worthwhile."
Percy nodded vigorously, his enthusiasm infectious. "Exactly! And we'll figure out the whole demigod thing together. You'll see, it'll be epic!"
Hikari sighed, knowing he wouldn't be able to escape this fate. "Alright, let's just get on with it. What's our first step?"
Chiron gestured for them to follow him. "First, I want to assess your abilities. We'll start with combat training, and then we'll explore your divine gifts. Knowing your strengths will be crucial in preparing you for what lies ahead."
As they walked out of the classroom, Hikari felt a mixture of apprehension and curiosity. Maybe he couldn't fight against the destiny laid out before him, but he could prepare for it. And if he was going to face this world of monsters and gods, he'd do it with his eyes wide open.
"Just remember, Percy," Hikari said with a smirk, "if you get us into trouble, I'm blaming you."
Percy laughed. "Deal! Just don't look too pretty while doing it."
Hikari groaned. "I can't believe I'm stuck with you."
As they exited the classroom, they didn't realize that their journey was just beginning, and they would soon uncover the depths of their powers and the true meaning of being demigods.
