Chapter 3: chapter 3
Percy laid in his bunk in the Hermes cabin. The harpies were chasing kids outside, couples from percy's guess.
On his chest was a letter he had received after all the children had fallen asleep. It was a fancy black envelope with an H for a signature.
It asked him to meet this person, and by the writing it seemed the person was a bit pissed. Though in the writing it said that there would be a mediator.
And while Percy didn't want to go, he had a gut feeling he quite literally had to.
It did seem that this camp was... Mostly messed up. The cabin was too small for its own good, and Percy was already about to leave the camp.
The problem? His mother's life quite literally hung on him.
Because of chaos forceful takeover and magic he had casted, people think he's a child of Hecate, or at the very least a very powerful one.
So the children of Hecate drifted around him while he was near, usually the young ones, as the older ones followed the Hermes.
though sometimes the older Hecate children drifted to him as well. They talked about how he had such pure magical energy.
Speaking of Hermes' cabin, the counselor had been causing Percy's skin to crawl. It was the first time he had come into contact with this type of soul.
It was like his soul was teetering on evil and neutral, but it leaned more to evil.
*Sigh*
With a sigh Percy arose from his bed and walked out the Hermes cabin quietly.
His footsteps never left a trace, nor did it ever produce a sound. But then again stuff like this was becoming more normal for him.
He was like a wraith... A ghost in a human's body. Which... Did suit him, as he was holding the creator inside his head.
Percy made his way to the campfire and stared at the fire and For the first time he was calm.
"You've arrived" a man spoke from the shadows as he sat down in his formal attire.
The man though looked tired, and mostly annoyed. As if something was wrong and he was anxious as he kept glancing at the sky.
After the initial startle that the man gave him, Percy sat forward. He somehow knew if he didn't play his cards right his life may very well be finished.
(Though he doesn't know he's banished from death).
The fire flickered for a second which caused percy's eyes to flicker to the small girl inside the flame.
H meanwhile sighed before looking over at Percy. It was as if he was confirming something.
"I know your brother's son, I'm pretty sure anyone with a brain could. These theories about you being the spawn of Hecate are clearly preposterous. Though I don't suppose I find fault in them considering the energy you surround yourself in," H said leaning forward.
Percy blinked.
"Well, I thought so too considering how my mother's currently sleeping in the big house," he responded.
"Bah, we gods aren't bound to a gender... Nor form. Haven't you heard the stories of the king of the sky?" He asked.
When Percy merely shook his head, H showed a visible reaction. It was as if he was stunned into silence.
With a deep sigh, he leaned back and stared at the stars.
"You may not... Understand what I have to say considering how new to this you are. I'm a reasonable... Ish man. Originally I was going to take your mother as a hostage and All that, until "it" appeared. You know very well whom I speak of, right?" H said.
Even the fire shifted nervously as if afraid of something.
Percy nodded his head before looking back at the giant tree at the edge of camp half-blood where it all happened.
"Fate has a lot in store for you demigod. Not even I can see your death as clearly. But I guarantee you this, you will not make it past 16. You WILL die," H said.
"I...will?" Percy's voice cracked before looking to the sky.
Why would Percy trust this man? It wasn't like he could predict the future. But the more Percy looked at the man, the more the gears started turning.
"Your Hades aren't you? The god of the underworld?" Percy finally spoke. .
Hades meanwhile just raised an eyebrow, as if silently asking who did you think I was.
The girl in the fire finally stepped out of it. A girl about the same age as percy.
"And I'm assuming your Hestia," percy said.
"Indeed child," Hestia said before sitting down.
"So why am I here? I got out of my bunk and was told to meet someone here, but I don't know the reason," Percy said.
Now Hades had finally sat up and looked directly.
"I need you to... Do me a favor you can say. It's already going to happen anyway, but I need to give you a warning. My brothers are about to wage war, and I do not want that to happen, no matter what anyone says."
Blue soul... So he wasn't lying.
"And?" Percy said.
"Soon you'll be prompted for a quest. You'll obviously say yes because knowing the wine god, he will use your mother as leverage. Accept it. While you're out there in the world ... Find my helmet," Hades finally came clear with his intentions.
"W-," Percy began asking the important question.
"It's a symbol of power, young one. It's very important, frightening so. My brother's helm and the Lord of the sky had both of their symbols of powers stolen during the winter solstice. It is...very important that they are returned," Hestia said with a gentle smile.
Percy looked towards the big house before sighing.
"Get my mother out of this camp and someplace safe and you have yourself a deal," Percy said.
"Of course. If you left, the Lord of the sky would punish her. He's unreasonable like that," Hades said.
Percy nodded before standing up and preparing to leave. He walked two steps before Hades called for him.
"Don't forget this," he said, tossing Percy a backpack.
"It's a gift from Hestia. It has the power of the hearth. It's been almost a millennium, maybe longer since this was in someone's possession. It lets you always pull out a warm cooked meal, no matter the place. And it has a neat feature of storing items," Hades said.
"Thank you," Percy said as he thanked Hestia, thankful as he knew he had a lot of stuff to handle.
"And since your... Handy with undead weapons," Hades said before handing Percy a black dagger.
"It might be useful one day" he shrugged.
Percy smiled before laughing.
"I think this is a start to a beautiful friendship H," Percy said as he put on his backpack.
"You'll get your prophecy soon. No need to rush yet. Oh yeah, I'll have a ride prepared for you on the day of your departure." Hades said before being engulfed in shadows.
Hestia gave a small bit of respect as she disappeared in flames.
*Sigh*
"This is going to be a long night," Percy said as he returned to bed.
....
"Did he tell you? the price you'll pay for hosting someone of his caliber inside your head?" the voice of order rang through Percy's head.
"Has he told you what happened's to you? What happens should you win the war? I'll tell you, I'm the only one who'll be honest with you," order continued as he materialized inside the dream.
"your body will shut down. eyes first, then your lungs, and it'll go nice and slowly. nice and painful. you will be nothing more than a cripple. a useless demigod. you cannot hope to think you have a chance to win do you? because I assure you, banished I may be at the moment, I can still haunt you. still kill you, still torture you in your dreams. if I cannot kill you, I'll simply drain you until you eventually die on your own.
chaos may not understand it now, but his actions have consequences. He's upsetting the balance of the world just for his petty reasons. think about this, since this is the last warning I'll be giving you," order said before disappearing, leaving Percy inside the black void of his dreams.
