Chapter 56: Chapter 55
Percy stretched his sore back muscles as he exited the newly established police building. After the village had pretty much survived the biggest threat of Pokémon, the police force finally recognized it as a place that was worth protecting.
And after what could be considered a terrorist attack on a human settlement, they had no option other than to set up a branch in the town. The head officer that led the force had taken all people who were in the area when the Team Rocket members showed up and questioned them.
In general the questions were pretty standard in nature. The majority of the questions were to confirm exactly what had happened and why they arrived there. Most of the Prodigies told how they were asked to come help defend the town by Percy and Ishigami.
Percy and Ishigami described how they had heard there was work in the town and wanted to help out. "And one more question." A standard Officer Jenny asked Percy. "Do you know why, who and where the Team Rocket members have fled to."
Percy blinked as he rummaged through his jumbled brain. "Uh well he ran away because he was running out of time to accomplish his goal and support from the village was soon to arrive. I don't know who he is or where he went." Percy shrugged and watched the officers reaction.
She seemed disappointed as she hoped that Percy would have more information then the other teens. She had gotten the impression that he was the most perceptive and might be able to have some insight on the situation. "You are free to leave unless you have any questions." She said.
Percy thought for a second, "Will anybody cover my medical bills?"
"Yeah. You can file a report with the government and in about two months you might be able to get compensation since all injuries sustained by criminal organizations are covered by the government." She explained. Percy shook his head. Government… As he stretched he breathed in the fresh air of the working village. He still had a pretty prominent limp and his back was still torn up from wood chips.
The worst was his shoulder that couldn't support his arm at all so he was pretty much only able to use one arm. He looked for his friends that had been interrogated before him. After scanning his surroundings he found the teens surrounded by people with large news cameras and microphones.
One of the people caught Percys eye and excitedly rushed over with another person operating a camera that trained on Percy. The woman stood next to Percy and fixed her hair. "We are live in 5, 4, 3,." The cameraman put up two fingers and then 1.
A smile appeared on the woman's face, "Good day Kanto! Today on Oakland News Station we are here on the scene of a recent attack on a newly made village. The second we heard there was a Team Rocket attack we rushed over to this town to get information to the people fast and with as much truth as possible." The woman paused as the camera panned to the damage from the explosion.
When the camera reached the woman again she began talking. "You saw earlier as the other news people interviewed the other kids. But a new kid has just exited the police building after interrogation. I am here with-"
She held the microphone to Percys mouth, "Uh, Percy?" He spoke into the mic uncertain. Bandaging still covered his injured parts so he wasn't feeling super camera confident.
"And we have learned that you and your friends are part of the trainer group known as the Prodigies that was established by Professor Oak." She held the mic to Percy once more.
"Yeah." He said bluntly not completely sure how to respond.
"We've heard the other teens point of views but you seemed to be pretty seriously injured throughout the whole story. Do you have any kind of different look? And most importantly, do you think this was a ploy by Team Rocket to instill panic in Kanto." The reporter said intensely.
Percy was silent as he thought this might've been an attempt to put him in poor view. "No I didn't see it any differently and no I don't think that Team Rocket tried to instill panic in Kanto in this attack. The leader was trying to escape." His monotone voice spoke clearly and deliberately into the mic. She nodded thoughtfully but Percy thought he felt some sort of dissatisfaction through his aura sense. Behind Percy an officer escorted a man with a Team Rocket suit on toward the police station.
The man seemed to be especially quiet and complying as the officers hands were barely touching him. His wiry figure slunk away but not before catching Percys eyes. Percy would've recognized the man as someone who he had personally knocked out last night. The previously dejected man who lost what he lived for became enraged at seeing the face of the person who ruined it.
An elbow landed in the officers stomach causing him to be released from the loose grip. Percy turned his body slowly and barely responding in his tired state. The woman next to him immediately stumbled back falling on her behind.
Half of his body still broken and useless Percy could do nothing as the mans spindly arms reached toward his neck. His calloused fingers closed around Percy's neck as they fell toward the ground. Percys back slammed against the hard dirt ground as fingers embedded themselves in his neck.
Unfortunately the officer was doubled over coughing and the closest help was the officers in the building. If the man was strong enough he would be able to just use his finger strength to crush Percys neck. His friends surrounded by news people, it seemed he had to deal with it himself.
At first Percy tried to claw away at the mans hands and arms but to no avail as the man seemed to have awoken something inside himself to summon so much strength. Percy tried to swing at the mans face but his arms weren't as long as the tall man's.
The lack of oxygen made him weaker and he felt the mans hands about to crush his neck. His knee throbbed and his shoulder bled as it tore open in their struggle. In his body a force tore out through his forehead slamming into the man atop Percy.
As murderous aura energy entered the mans senses he was temporarily stunned and Percy took his chance. Percy swung with his operational arm connecting with the mans elbow snapping his arm in half. With only one hand around Percys neck he easily broke out and grabbed the back of the mans head. Percys head slammed into the mans head cracking the mans skull.
Percy pushed the unconscious man off of him and sucked in air and massaged his neck. Indents remained in his neck from the mans hands as black dots appeared in Percys vision. Seconds later he saw Jason standing over him yelling for help.
Percy waved him down and assured Jason that he was okay. He coughed violently and motioned to Jason to help him up. Jason helped Percy up carefully before walking Percy to the group of people that still surrounded the teens.
Jason had broken out of the circle when he noticed Percy being choked out. The news people stopped in their tracks and recorded Percy which made it difficult to get past them. Seconds later Aurora healed his injuries a little and the head Officer Jenny showed up.
Apparently she had seen what happened through the window of the building and tried to get out the building as fast as possible. To the side the officer holding the criminal stood guiltily being lectured by a senior officer. "Are you okay." Officer Jenny asked.
She seemed clearly angry that her subordinate had screwed up so terribly on camera. The camera crews chattered excitedly on how good they were going to get a story.
Zoe gritted her teeth in anger, "No he's not okay!" Her face red, "If this is how you operate the people below you, cousin, then I might have to complain to my mother."
A tense silence fell before the Officer Jenny turned to the news people. "Turn off your damn cameras." She grabbed the unconscious Team Rocket member and dragged him into the building. The entirety of the Prodigies gave stank eyes to the surrounding people.
