Perfect Body: Legacy of Greed

Chapter 5: Objective

Cassian carefully lowered Nora to the floor. He didn't understand exactly what she wanted to do.

Now that he looked... she was in her pajamas. White, with red hearts pierced by arrows. It wasn't relevant to the situation, but he realized that he was wearing the same pajamas, with the same print.

It wasn't strange, since they had originally been a gift from Nora. He had received them, but didn't wear them because he thought they were ridiculous.

However, when she started bringing him more pajamas—this time with prints of her own face—he began to wear them, on the condition that he get rid of the ones with her face on them.

And to his surprise, they turned out to be absurdly comfortable, so much so that he began to wear them frequently.

What he never thought was that he would end up going outside with them on, and in fact he felt a little uncomfortable, but decided to put it aside.

It wasn't really important now that all this was happening, it was just a passing thought.

Instead, he looked curiously at Nora's actions.

Snap!

"At your service, miss."

At Nora's snap, a woman dressed in black suddenly appeared, wearing a formal suit, dark glasses, and headphones.

Cassian looked at her, completely confused.

Who is she? Where did she come from?

"Um, Julieth... I know I ordered you not to interfere, but in this situation, don't you think you should have come on your own initiative?"

"...I'm sorry, miss, we were a little..."

"Whatever!, Do you have any idea what's going on? Any useful information?"

"Hey, Nora... who is this woman?"

"Wait, Cassy, I'll explain later. Julieth, answer her."

"Yes, miss. We know for sure... that we don't know what's happening."

"..."

Julieth's response left Nora staring at her, unable to understand what kind of answer that was, but knowing how loyal Julieth was, she decided not to think too much about it.

"Well, that doesn't help much... although, ... did she call you miss? You said you were rich, but... you even have a servant?"

"Cassy, this is not the time to analyze my life... Julieth, tell me what you do know. Are there any messages from my father?"

"No, miss. About ten minutes ago, all electronics—phones, cars, everything—just stopped. We tried fallback methods like analog radios, but right after that... the mosters appeared."

"Do the guns work?"

"Yes, miss."

"Good. Let's go home. My father must have made a barricade. There are several machine guns in the basement."

"What the hell? Are you the daughter of a mafia boss? No, wait... a mafia boss wouldn't have machine guns. Or maybe he does."

Cassian, standing nearby, was surprised by what he heard and couldn't help but question when the machine gunsm were mentioned.

"Cassy! Leave those little details aside! We have to get to my house! It's an hour's walk. If we run, we can cut down the time. Julieth, how many guards are available?"

"Miss, right now your security team has eight men ready. With me, that makes nine."

"Security team? You have one? Wait... then why did you say you needed me to—?"

"Cassy! Focus! There are monsters out there. This isn't the time for questions. We have to make our way to what will now be our home."

"Miss... that's your father's house."

"Bah! That old man can move into a nursing home. Cassy and I will have our love nest there. It will be perfect for surviving this apocalypse."

"..."

"Yes, Julieth thought, why even try to correct her? That was the most useless thing to do in life. It seemed the situation had upset her a little, and she wasn't thinking clearly at all."

"Nora... are you being serious, or not?"

On the other hand, Cassian didn't understand if Nora was joking or not in this highly dangerous and unknown situation.

"I'm very serious. First, let's clear the way. Security team, go ahead! Julieth, stay close. There's no safer place than being with Cassy."

"Yes, Miss."

"What the hell...? Where did these people come from? Why do they all look like professional bodybuilders?"

He had many questions. As if a sudden apocalypse wasn't enough, he discovered that his friend had many dubious and questionable things about her.

"Haa~ I guess it's inevitable now, and I'll have to tell you when we get home. Haah~ I thought I could let my father work himself to death while I enjoyed our love nest with his inheritance.... Damn it, why did an apocalypse have to happen now?"

"I don't know your father, but having a daughter like you... I really feel sorry for him. Anyway, you're right, first we have to get out of this situation, the rest can come later."

In the end, Caasian understood the priorities, and useless questions didn't make much sense now. It was time to act, and there was already a decided goal.

"That's right, my husband is reliable! Now, carry me like a princess while you take me—"

"Why? Walk on your own two feet."

"This is more efficient! I'm not very fast, I'd slow you all down!".

"Fine."

"Ah! Cassy... this isn't carrying me like a princess. This is how you carry sacks of potatoes."

"Efficiency."

"..."

Cassian paid no further attention to Nora, who fell silent at his argument and resigned herself to being carried like a sack of potatoes.

Bang! Bang!

Graaoo!!

The security team began shooting at the creature that was blocking their path. The bullets certainly hurt the beast, but they didn't kill it quickly.

All it did was cause the beast to notice them and run towards them.

"Wait, just a moment."

Cassian, seeing that this would be a problem, stopped the men and stepped forward to face the beast, to their bewilderment.

The main problem was that Cassian was carrying his mistress, the target of protection.

Most of them knew what kind of person Cassian was, and now they regretted leaving the care of their mistress to a suicidal man.

Krrueeekk!!

"Get out of the way!"

Thunk!

But what happened, under everyone's astonished gaze, was that Cassian slapped the creature, sending it over the balcony of the building and causing it to fall.

It was forceful and quick, to the point that it seemed easy.

"Hey, you guys! What am I paying you for? You can't let Cassy do all the work. At least keep an eye on the surroundings, and Julieth, I told you to 'stay close'."

Finally, in response to Nora's complaints, who could look back because of the efficient way she was being carried, the bodyguards woke up and followed their mistress, now guided by Cassian.

Once he had disposed of the creature, Cassian continued on his way. But as he passed the door of the apartment where the beast had had its head stuck earlier, he saw that there was blood scattered everywhere in the doorway.

"..."

And if he thought about it... the monster's jaw was also stained red.

From the scattered limbs—an arm here, a leg there—it looked like a man, a woman, and a child. A family.

"Cassy, this is..."

Nora, who struggled to see why Cassian had stopped, didn't know what to say when she saw him.

"Huah..., it's nothing. Let's keep going."

Lucky or not for Cassian, even though they were technically his downstairs neighbors, he had never interacted with them. Or with anyone in the neighborhood, really.

He decided not to think about it: scenes like that were probably happening everywhere. He needed to keep his priorities straight right now.

"...,Yes. That would be best."

"..."

From behind, Julieth watched the couple. She didn't understand how they could be so calm in a situation like that.

Any ordinary person would have been horrified... they might even have vomited at the sight of such carnage.

She had been trained from a young age, but even so, she felt nauseous. She admired the mental toughness of her mistress... and of that man whose abnormalities, at that moment, seemed to be incredibly useful in keeping her safe.

Julieth knew a lot about Cassian. On her mistress's orders, she had investigated him several times.

She had even covered up incidents, such as all those times he was hit by a truck and managed to survive as if nothing had happened.

She did not know the full extent of Cassian's abilities, but she had long known that he was not a normal human being. No, he was probably not even human.

Honestly, Julieth didn't have the slightest positive opinion of Cassian. Not because of his abnormalities, but because of his constant attempts to take his own life.

She didn't believe that anyone in their right mind would do such a thing, and she didn't understand her mistress's stubbornness in staying by his side, nor her affection for him.

But now... seeing him calmly making his way through, facing the creatures without hesitation, with decisive and precise movements... Julieth was beginning to reconsider her opinion of Cassian.

She also realized that she and the other guards were becoming practically useless. This couldn't go on.

"Miss, we must go to the underground parking lot. We have knives and the radio there, we can try to communicate again."

"Oh, good idea. Guns make a lot of noise and attract more beasts. That way they won't be so useless and can help Cassy."

"Even so... small knives won't do much good."

"Oh, Cassy, don't worry. They're katanas and axes. Believe me, they'll be useful."

"..."

Cassian thought it would be better not to ask why the hell they had those.

..

.

Thwack!!

Cassian made his way to the basement of the building and eliminated all the beasts along the way, including the one that was climbing the stairs leading to the basement.

Hmm, it's definitely that one.

This was a very large apartment building, so the basement had many cars, but seeing how things were going so far, without hesitation or question, he headed toward the highly suspicious black van.

One that, if he remembered correctly, had started to appear since he met Nora, at the time he had not related it and only thought it was suspicious and that someone was using it to do shady things, but as it was none of his business, he kept that thought to himself and ignored it.

"Oh, Cassy, how did you know this was the car?"

"Do what they have to do, I'll keep watch."

Cassian kept watch on the surroundings while urging the men and Julieth to do their thing, and they quickly began to take out cases that looked like instrument cases but contained Melee weapon inside.

Meanwhile, Julieth was trying to use the radio to communicate with their destination. Cassian was listening, and it seemed they had succeeded.

As Nora had said, the destination seemed to be safer, and they urged them to go from the other side, which relieved him, as his objective was no longer in an uncertain state.

"Cassy, don't ignore me."

"Are you seriously asking me that?"

"Yes."

"Fine, since you want to talk and we have time, and I'll ask first, are you a daughter of the mafia or something? No! Must be something else.... Are you the daughter of a high council official?"

"Oh, Cassy, I like that my husband is intelligent. It shows that you're not just muscles, although I wouldn't mind if you were just muscles."

"Answer me."

"Haah~ well, yes, my father, so to speak, has an important role in the council."

"How important?"

"No, Cassy, I won't tell you. What if, once I do, you become one of those guys who only care about money and power…?"

"Hmm. And if I were, would that finally make you stop calling yourself my wife?"

"What? Are you crazy? That would be perfect! I'd have you in my clutches, drown you in money and power, and you'd never escape me! Huehuehue~."

"But what the hell? Then just-"

"Miss, we've established communication. We have to move, they will too. Hopefully we'll meet halfway. We have to be quick, we don't know what else might happen."

"Oh, good one, Julieth."

"Huh?"
