Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead
Chapter 527: A Childhood Habit
Msir had always been the liveliest of the elemental champions, with an odd, yet charming personality, the champion of sword stood out even at a glance as she always wore a hat on her head, something that hadn't changed even after arriving in the Emerald Realm, she had lost the one from before after getting beaten into a pulp by Loimos, but where there was will, there was a way.
Having always had a knack for millinery, or hat-making, Msir really only went balls to the wall with this hobby after ending up in this place, it was the first reason why she had ran late to the meeting with Neige, too enthralled in the conception of one of her art pieces to notice time passing.
Even if late, the champion did not hurry too much, quite liking slow walks through nature, especially in the Emerald Realm as the colours were always vibrant, it was like being a child again, bright eyed and seeing things as much grander than they really were, it reminded Msir of when she used to climb trees as a little girl, and how she would often fall like an ungraceful sack of potatoes.
Most people probably would have died from breaking and cracking bones so often, but she had not, most would have also learned their lesson and stopped climbing on trees since it clearly was not something they were good at, but not Msir.
In fact, Minli had said that it was probably because of this that the injuries inflicted by Loimos had healed so quickly, the champion had gotten both of her wrists broken during that fight, but such damage was measly, indeed, Msir had gotten closer to the death's door by being an idiotic child than by confronting Life's Scourge, whether that was something to be proud of was dubious however.
In any case, she had been unable to resist and latched onto one of the fiery orange trees like a spider-monkey on high-amounts of caffeine, now being a veteran warrior and champion of Starkefolten, she did not fall and split her skull on a rock thankfully, sitting on a thick branch, swinging her feet and taking in the fresh air.
'Oh… What's that?' she spotted what looked like someone just laying in a small clearing, being a very nice girl, she jumped off the branch and went to see if everything was alright, the place was rather pretty and full of nice shades, the emerald light piercing through small gaps in the canopy, creating a relaxing ambiance, though Msir always preferred for a background of white noise herself to the calm of nature, it was hard to not be charmed by the atmosphere.
Looking up at the large, pink-leaved tree above, and then down at not the person, but the two people just laying in the grass, the blonde girl smirked, a rather amusing sight it was.
Taking off her hat and bringing it against her chest, she leaned forward.
"Wakey-wakey! Don't you think it is a bit dangerous to just sleep in the middle of the woods? It is full of beasts, unknown dangers, and people like me!" her not-so melodious attempt was not instantly successful, only one of the people opened their eyes groggily.
Quickly snapping them open as the realisation must have set in.
"We fell asleep in the woods?" rubbing his eyes, the young man looked up at the champion as she stood right over him.
"Indeed, your name is… Toby, right?"
"Yes… Are you- Msir?" he said unsure, not really that familiar with any of the elemental champions.
"Exactly! Well Toby, your fifth limb is in the open"
Toby did not quite move, or at least, he slightly trembled.
"My whole body is cramped up" he ended up stating a few seconds later, visibly turning pale at the situation.
As he said this, it was Ooaluz's turn to awake, doing so with her typical stretch that was pretty much an exact replica of that of a rabbit.
"Heheh… You really outdid yourself this time Toby, I would want you to always be the one mounting if I didn't know that you loved it when- Oh hello!" only paying attention to her surroundings much too far into the sentence, the beast sorceress waved at Msir.
"Hello, I was worried you guys were having a problem but it seems like everything is alright"
"Oh, that's very nice"
"How long have we even been there?" wondered Toby.
"Well, it's the afternoon right now…" remarked the champion of sword.
Toby and Ooaluz had arrived here in the morning, one might claim that a long time had indeed passed since the communion and what had followed had occurred, even if both had lasted a fair little while, most of that time had been spent passed out on the ground like two drunkards on the street.
"Welp, since everybody is alright- I have somewhere to be… Remember to drink water and massage the cramps, you dirty dog! Ahahah!" walking away whilst putting her hat back on, Msir would have a funny story to tell for later.
Really a great idea she had had to climb on top of that tree, she may have just missed this otherwise, she had heard that some people were philandering with the locals, but had not imagined that some would even go a step further and do so in the woods.
'Aah… Everyone really is carefree these days…' it seemed like many had left the past behind themselves and decided to focus on the peaceful present instead, there was nothing wrong with that, and really, Msir was aware that it was the best thing to do.
However, the champion would be lying if she said that there was no will to piece up some undead filth lingering within her heart still, the dead had destroyed nearly everything everyone held dear, it was a miracle that the Emerald Realm's tranquil peace and beauty had managed to lull so many to put that behind themselves… If not to forget, but to conveniently ignore it at the very least.
Those of sapience, and especially humans, were resilient after all, if things were allowed to progress as they were, then new generations would come to replace them, and slowly, the dreadful mark left by the undead would fade away.
'Wouldn't that be nice'
Msir shook her head, raising one hand into a wave.
"Hey girls, sorry for being late… You won't believe what I just ran into! You see that shy-looking otherworlder called Toby? Well let me tell you something…"
The three champions began walking to their destination as they were being told the already embellished story of what had just transpired.
