Chapter 14: The End of the Tower of Heaven

Chapter 14

Time passed, Elsa and I trained every day, studied and went to study and work in the forge twice a week, although to be honest, my red-haired friend and I associated forging training not with something complicated and dangerous, but with an interesting and useful game. Still, Freya skillfully taught us the practical part so as to warm up our enthusiasm, but even so, we did not get to forging weapons in a month. Until now, we were taught the smelting of metals and their alloys, and, apart from the first classes, we worked mainly with magical analogues that are used in the creation of artifacts.

As for our usual training, I was able to bring the creation of a telekinesis spell to automatism and now it takes me no more than a second to cast it. However, this did not give me control over the spell, so for me telekinesis is still a disposable gun. I also worked a little on ice magic, which is done by merging wind and water magic. Although creating a basic magic circle was much easier for me, I was unable to recreate the magic of ice dragon killers in a similar way, I clearly felt that the ice, although a little stronger than usual, was missing something special and that I had yet to figure it out. I called the missing and unknown part the dragon attribute. Elsa has also made quite good progress this month. She has already learned to freely use her telekinesis magic to bonus strengthen her characteristics, and her talent in fencing is simply amazing, she developed in this direction at the same speed as me and it seems to me that if the knowledge system were not mine, but hers, I would have been left in the dust long ago, so I could only try even harder so as not to slow down my friend's progress. As for our reserve development, in this month alone I was able to increase the reserve by 125%, and Elsa by 90%. And looking at this rate of reserve development, I honestly begin to suspect that most mages do not even try to develop their reserve, because Elsa and I already correspond to a strong C-rank mage and if we continue to develop at this rate, then in 2 months we will already be the initial B-rank in terms of pure magic volumes.

In financial terms, for the time being we solved the problem by filling empty lacrima with lightning magic and the cold magic I had recently learned, and we also received, albeit a little for now, for help in the forge, which, frankly speaking, was quite symbolic because we would be able to fully help only when we had learned better and then at least the metal smelting process would be on us. As a result, we not only had enough money to eat well, but also to buy a piece of strawberry cake on Friday evenings, which became our little tradition, and with all this we still had money left over that we could save up, and in the future, if we still couldn't go on missions, then at least we would be able to pay for housing.

Now Elsa and I are once again entering the guild hall and I, out of habit, not even paying attention, strengthened my fist with magic and knocked out Dragneel who was flying at me shouting "Let's swipe Wendy!" He had already tried to attack Elsa like that before, but that time I didn't knock him out, but beat him up thoroughly using my knowledge of medicine, specifically striking at pain points and fortunately Natsu got the hint. Having laid Natsu down on the nearest bench, we headed towards the bar where the master was already and, apparently, he was waiting for us.

Good morning, master! - We greeted each other cheerfully. - We brought lacrimas for sale and would also like to know if there are any orders for the healer.

-Good morning to you too, girls.-The old man answered with a smile.-As for the assignments, unfortunately your age scares off the customers, and yes, let's go to my office, I have news for you.-Having said this, Makarov jumped off the tabletop and went to his office.

-What difference does it make to them about my age, I will be treating, not seducing someone. Besides, any man who will brazenly pester me will become impotent for life, because he will have nothing to get excited with.

-And what, you won't let any guy near you at all? - asked the master.

-Why do I need guys when I can make a dick for myself or my future girlfriend? - The master choked on his saliva and started coughing from this answer, and Elsa blushed so much that her face was only slightly less than the color of her hair. In general, having successfully shocked the master and embarrassed my friend, I was the first to enter the guild master's office.

We were once again sitting in the same order as during our first conversation. Makarov at the table and we on a small sofa.

-Well, 2 weeks ago there was a meeting of the heads of the guilds about the tower of paradise and recently a team was assembled that saved all the slaves.- the master began to broadcast.

"Really?!" Elsa exclaimed excitedly.

- Yes - Makarov answered and continued. - When the team arrived there, the cultists of Zeref took control of the slaves again and they were quickly put out of action. The children who were there were mostly sent to shelters, and those who were searched for by their relatives were returned to their families. As for Gerard, everything is more complicated. They checked him and found no signs of control magic, but they recognized him as mentally broken, so he was sent for treatment to one of the best psychiatric hospitals in the kingdom and the treatment is unlikely to take more than 4 years, however, for the treatment he will not be allowed to see anyone who went through these trials with him.

"So he really did betray us all of his own free will?" Elsa asked quietly.

- Not really. You know, you can influence the mind not only with magic, but also with ordinary means. It's called brainwashing, so don't worry, after the treatment you won't see a Zeref fanatic, but a completely adequate guy.

"Thank you for telling me," Elsa answered barely audibly.

-You're welcome. Go for a walk. I'm sure you have something to talk about.
