Phoenix Rising in the World of One Piece

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: First Encounter

The first days in this new world were disorienting. The island I had landed on was small and sparsely populated, but there were enough signs of civilization for me to find my bearings. I roamed through the dense jungles, observing the local flora and fauna. Everything felt so unfamiliar, and the overwhelming sense of being an outsider gnawed at me.

Despite my newfound power, I couldn't afford to draw attention. The Lunarian race was feared, and even the smallest glimpse of my wings might be enough to mark me for death. I had no idea how I had ended up here, but I wasn't ready to face the full wrath of the World Government. My only choice was to keep my head low and avoid any trouble—at least for now.

But fate, it seemed, had other plans.

One afternoon, while I was resting by the coast, I heard the unmistakable sound of a commotion—a brawl. Voices shouted in the distance. I tensed, instinctively looking for a way to retreat. But curiosity won out. My Lunarian instincts urged me to investigate.

I took to the sky and followed the sound, soon spotting a group of pirates who had apparently taken over a small village. They were drunk and disorderly, pushing villagers around, demanding food and shelter. In the midst of it all, one woman stood her ground, shouting defiance at the pirates who had no respect for anyone but themselves.

"Get out of here, you scum!" the woman yelled, her face flushed with anger.

She had fiery red hair and an even fiercer spirit. There was something undeniably captivating about her. She wasn't just a pirate—she was a leader, the way she commanded the space around her.

Without thinking, I landed behind her, my wings folding gently as I surveyed the scene. I didn't want to get involved, but something about her struck a chord within me.

"What's the problem here?" I asked, my voice calm but carrying an undercurrent of authority.

The pirates stopped, turning to face me. They looked at me with confusion and fear, unsure of what to make of my appearance. But the red-haired woman, unfazed, eyed me boldly.

"Who are you?" she asked, her voice steady. "And what do you want?"

I could see the mistrust in her eyes, but I also saw something else—a glimmer of curiosity.

"I'm not here to fight," I said. "I don't want trouble. But I won't stand by and let you hurt these people."

She didn't blink. Her eyes held a sharpness that was hard to ignore.

"Funny, because I was about to ask you the same thing," she replied.

Before I could react, she stepped forward, raising her sword in one fluid motion. The pirates hesitated, clearly intimidated by her, but their leader sneered.

"You think you can stop us?" he asked, his hand resting on the hilt of his own weapon.

I didn't need to say anything. My wings flared, and without a word, I summoned a burst of flame that shot out of my hand like a bullet. The pirates scattered, some screaming in terror, others taking defensive positions.

The woman raised an eyebrow but said nothing, impressed by the display of power.

"Alright," she said after a long silence. "You've got my attention. I'm Zara, captain of this crew. And you are…?"

I hesitated for only a moment before answering. "Call me Jason. But you don't need to worry about me. I'm not looking for a fight."

Zara's eyes narrowed, but she grinned. "I didn't think you were. You've got power, but you don't seem like the type to throw it around just for fun."

I offered her a small smile in return, relieved that she didn't immediately judge me as a threat.

"What are you doing here, then?" Zara asked, her expression softening.

"I'm just passing through," I said. "Trying to survive."

"Well," she said with a sly grin, "maybe we can help each other out."
