PIRATES: I WORK IN NAVY FROM NINE TO FIVE

Chapter 121: CHAPTER 121-“Dark Magic and Dangerous Deals”

"Ding! Host, please wait!"

The ethereal voice echoed again.

As the golden treasure chest slowly opened in his consciousness, Luo Yu's eyes lit up. A flicker of pure joy surged through him.

"Ding! Congratulations, Host—obtained Dark Magic!"

"Ding! Congratulations, Host—obtained Fusion Card!"

Two dazzling golden rays burst from the void.

Suspended in the air before him: a dark, ominous book exuding thick shadows—and a card forged from radiant gold, hovering quietly beside it.

Luo Yu blinked.

These didn't look like weapons.

Not swords, not guns, not any kind of familiar killing tool.

Was this some divine message urging me to pursue inner peace instead of violence?Jesus, are you trying to reform me now?

Luo Yu rubbed his nose, then extended a hand to touch them.

The instant he made contact, a torrent of information flooded into his consciousness—details about the book and the card seared themselves into his brain, making his head buzz.

Then… comprehension clicked.

He gazed at the dark grimoire that had now manifested in his palm. If he wasn't mistaken—

This was the spellbook of Yami Sukehiro, the Black Bull captain from the world of Black Clover.

Within it were the many techniques Yami had mastered through pushing himself beyond his limits—his dark magic, his iaijutsu, and his ability to turn darkness into slashes, rending space and crossing dimensions.

He was a swordsman-mage hybrid who used his blade and magic to overwhelm even top-tier foes.

Even the fearsome gravity devil—the leader of the Dark Triad—had struggled to react to Yami's dimensional slash.

In his own world, Yami was practically running on a semi-broken script.

After the fight with Jack, Luo Yu had already been feeling the lack of enough finishing moves and high-damage techniques.

He never expected this treasure chest to grant him a true trump card.

Now, his shortcomings in swordsmanship and energy manipulation were completely compensated.

As long as I master Yami's dark magic… my strength won't just double—it'll evolve entirely.

Hoo...

Luo Yu exhaled deeply, pushing down his excitement.

Then he looked to the second item: the golden Fusion Card.

If memory served, this resembled the Fusion Card from Yu-Gi-Oh!, used to merge two monsters into one.

Except this was even more dangerous.

It wasn't just fusing external things. This card allowed Luo Yu to permanently bestow a fusion attribute to one of his own powers, enabling it to combine with other abilities.

But once used, it was irreversible. The target was locked.

This card could only be used once.

A single-use item with permanent consequences.

That made it far too valuable to be used rashly.

Luo Yu frowned and thought for a long moment… then finally sighed and shelved it in his mental vault.

When the time is right, and the right fusion becomes clear… then I'll use it.

Just then—

"Admiral Luo Yu! You're finally up!"

A breathless Ain jogged up, waving a thick stack of documents.

"Yesterday after you clocked out, Vice Admiral Tsuru sent an urgent mission update—Admiral Kizaru will be taking your place in the trade with Blackbeard!"

"Kizaru's replacing me?" Luo Yu raised a brow.

"And what about the 20 million bounty we agreed on for the mission?"

"Don't worry, Admiral," Ain replied with a bitter smile. "Fleet Admiral Sengoku knew you'd demand full compensation, so he approved the bonus even though you're no longer handling the trade."

She glanced down at the mission paperwork, where that specific line had been bolded and underlined.

To her, it was almost laughable that Luo Yu would care about such a "small" 20 million Berry reward…

But after seeing how hard he went against Jack—purely for the sake of performance metrics—she now understood better.

And looking back at the still-unconscious Jack the Drought and Ulti, Ain suddenly found herself… liking this merciless, bonus-driven man just a bit more.

She couldn't help pumping her small fists.

"Fufu… Sha ka sha…"

"Hm? What are you so excited about?" Luo Yu turned around and caught her softly humming.

"Oh—uh—w-well, it's payday, right? That's worth being happy about!" Ain flushed crimson, shocked at her own girlish reaction, and quickly nodded along to Luo Yu's logic.

Suddenly—

"Admiral Luo Yu! Bad news!"

From the lookout tower atop the mast, a scout called out urgently.

"There's a massive wooden raft headed straight toward us! Judging by the wind and speed, it'll be here in fifteen minutes!"

Ain's face darkened. She instinctively started to climb the tower—until Luo Yu calmly raised a hand and stopped her.

"No need to panic."

"That's not Kaido. He wouldn't show up in something so cheap."

Luo Yu took a swig of his liquor and narrowed his eyes toward the sea.

As the silhouette of the giant raft came into focus, and the black pirate flag flapped in the wind—

"It's Marshall D. Teach… Blackbeard."

"Didn't expect him to come personally. Looks like he's very confident in this deal."

He turned lazily to Ain.

"Tell him—deal's off. I'm on vacation."

Deal's off… because it's vacation time?

Ain and the nearby Marines all froze.

Only Luo Yu… could casually reject a meeting with Blackbeard like that.

No fear. No negotiation. No hesitation.

And frankly… if Blackbeard came with a price tag on his head, maybe Luo Yu would reconsider.

But now that Kizaru had taken over the mission, Luo Yu was—technically—off-duty.

Meanwhile, just 7–8 nautical miles from Oosu Island…

A crudely built giant wooden raft drifted toward its target.

On the deck, Blackbeard stood grinning, arms crossed, surrounded by his crew.

They faced a white-robed figure cloaked in mystery.

"Heh heh… Looks like CP0's intel really was useful," Teach said, chomping on a cherry pie.

"No wonder the world's top factions freak out when they hear your name."

"But I gotta ask—why are you giving us intel on the Navy's Fourth Admiral?"

"Don't forget—we're pirates. Even if we become Warlords someday, we're still enemies of the government."

At those words, all eyes turned to Spandine.

Even the bound and bruised Ace couldn't help but look over with utter contempt.

As a proud member of the Whitebeard Pirates…

There was nothing more disgusting than watching one of their own betray them.
