At this point, Pikachu was being held by the robotic arm, but it had not been locked in place. In other words, it was still exposed, even though the mechanical arm was obviously coated in rubber.
However, since Pikachu was not confined to a closed container, it still had the option to target the hot air balloon above, even if it couldn't attack the mechanical arm directly.
As Pikachu realized this, sparks began to crackle on its cheeks, ready to strike.
"Hmph! Pikachu, don't even think about it. If you attack, you'll hit that twerp's head first. And if you knock us down, you and that twerp will fall too!" Jessie taunted, finishing her lines triumphantly. She glanced at Ash, who had managed to climb up after them, her grin widening.
Pikachu hesitated at Jessie's words, its ears twitching nervously as it remembered Ash was still beside it.
"Don't worry about me, Pikachu! I'm not that fragile. Just attack!" Ash shouted, gripping the mechanical arm tightly while looking at Pikachu with determination.
Are you kidding me? Ash thought. I'm strong enough to handle this. Even if I get shocked twice or have to jump from here, I'll be fine... probably!
"Pikaaa?" Pikachu cried, clearly worried, and shook its head vigorously, unwilling to act. Ash frowned slightly as he held onto the arm, while the hot air balloon began to drift further away from the city.
Team Rocket heaved a sigh of relief as they noticed Pikachu wasn't attacking. Ash's quick reaction had prevented them from fully capturing Pikachu or locking it up. Now that Ash was on board, they decided to focus on escaping and regrouping once they reached a safer location.
"Ash!" a familiar voice called out.
Ash turned to see Sabrina, Misty, and Brock still in pursuit, though Sabrina had outpaced the others by a considerable distance. Spotting Sabrina, Ash's eyes lit up. Why am I worried? There's a powerhouse right here!
"Devileon, use Iron Tail!" Ash commanded as he released his Pokémon from its Poké Ball. In a flash of light, Devileon appeared, its Frillish-like body floating in the air.
Without hesitation, Devileon swung its spear-like tails, which glowed with a metallic sheen, toward the mechanical arm.
Boom!
The Iron Tail struck the mechanical arm with precision. While the arm was insulated against electricity, its structural integrity was ordinary. Under Devileon's attack, the connecting tube of the mechanical arm was severed.
"Pikaaa!" Pikachu cried as the mechanical claw lost its grip and released it. Pikachu tumbled through the air, panic on its face. Ash let go of the arm to catch Pikachu mid-fall, holding it tightly as they plunged together.
"What? Is that twerp crazy?!" James exclaimed. Team Rocket stared in disbelief. They were at a height of forty meters—surely a fall from such a height would be fatal!
Misty and Brock, chasing from below, were horrified to see Ash and Pikachu falling. Misty closed her eyes, unable to watch, while Brock braced for the worst.
"Sabrina, do something!" Misty shouted as Sabrina ran a few steps forward, her eyes glowing with a blue light. She raised her hands, her psychic powers activating just as Ash and Pikachu were about to hit the ground.
A blue aura enveloped them, slowing their fall. The force of the impact diminished as Sabrina carefully lowered them to the ground. Devileon also landed nearby, unscathed.
Brock exhaled in relief. "That was way too close."
"How is Brock?" Misty asked nervously, unable to watch and covering her eyes.
Brock, slightly startled, replied, "They're fine… it looks like everything's okay!" He had almost forgotten that Sabrina was a Psychic and could use her abilities to fly, let alone save Ash and Pikachu so effortlessly.
Hearing Brock's reassurance, Misty cautiously opened her eyes. She realized that Ash and Pikachu were safe, cushioned beneath Devileon, and sighed in relief. Sabrina's timely intervention had saved them.
"What? What is with that woman?!" Jessie exclaimed, her jaw nearly hitting the floor.
"That woman… she must be a Psychic, meow!" Meowth said, gawking at the scene unfolding below.
As the trio stared in shock, Ash and Pikachu landed safely on the ground. Devileon floated down gracefully beside them, and Sabrina immediately rushed over.
"Are you okay?" she asked, concern etched on her face.
"I'm fine. Thanks, but let's deal with those guys first," Ash replied, glancing up at the hot air balloon still hovering above.
Sabrina nodded, her expression hardening. Frost seemed to glimmer in her gaze as she reached for her Poké Ball.
"Kadabra, use Psybeam!" she commanded as she released her Pokémon.
"Devileon, Shadow Ball! Pikachu, Electro Ball!" Ash shouted, joining the counterattack.
"Kadabra!
"Pikaaa-chu!"
"Devileon!"
All three Pokémon launched their powerful moves in unison. Team Rocket, frozen in fear, huddled together in the balloon as the attacks hurtled toward them.
Boom! Boom!
The attacks collided with the hot air balloon, creating a fiery explosion that sent the entire contraption spiraling into the sky. Flames and smoke filled the air as the force of the blast propelled Team Rocket far into the distance.
"What a disgusting feeling!" Jessie and James cried out as they disappeared into the horizon.
"Meowth, that's right!"
With Team Rocket defeated, Misty and Brock finally caught up. They checked on Ash and were relieved to see that he and Pikachu were unharmed.
"That was a close call," Brock said, shaking his head.
Misty agreed. "I'm glad Sabrina was here. That could've been really bad."
"Thanks, Sabrina!" Ash said with a grateful smile as they regrouped and prepared to continue their journey.
"Uh… just call me Sabrina," she replied, looking a bit flustered. "It's nothing, really… but you were way too reckless up there."
Though Sabrina was trying to act casual, it was clear she was still not used to expressing kindness—or receiving gratitude so openly.
