"We won't stand by while you bully others!" Chopper and Tyra led the charge as the Will-O-Wisp teenagers rushed over to support Ash's group.
They abandoned their bicycles and stood beside Ash and his friends. Misty was stunned by this unexpected development—these rebellious-looking teens actually had a sense of justice.
"You little brats! We'll beat you all!" Mars's face contorted with anger at the sight of these teenagers daring to stand against him.
Ash remained unruffled, even without Tyra's group's assistance. These bosozoku spent more time polishing their motorcycles and intimidating others than training their Pokémon. They weren't a genuine threat to a skilled Trainer like him.
BEEP BEEP BEEP!!!
Just as tensions between the two sides reached their peak, police sirens wailed in the distance. Everyone froze, turning to look behind them. A police motorcycle led the way, followed by several patrol cars.
"Stop causing trouble on this bridge immediately!" A voice commanded through a megaphone as Officer Jenny approached on her motorcycle.
"Damn it, the cops are here! Brothers, let's bail!" Mars called out reluctantly to his gang.
As they turned to escape, more police sirens blared from the opposite direction. Mars and his crew were shocked to see another group of officers approaching from the other end of the bridge, also led by an Officer Jenny.
Even Ash's group was surprised. They knew the Jenny family all resembled one another, but seeing two identical officers simultaneously was still jarring—almost as if Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy in each city were the same person with multiple personalities.
"H-how can there be another one over there?" Mars hadn't expected to be trapped with police coming from both directions.
Tyra's gang also looked worried—they frequently caused minor disturbances on the bridge and feared police involvement.
"Wow, there are two Officer Jennys at once!" Brock's eyes transformed into hearts as he gazed at the approaching officers. Misty just rolled her eyes at his behavior.
The police had arrived from both towns because concerned citizens had called them. Some had returned to Ash's starting point, while others had continued to Sunnytown. After witnessing the confrontation, they had each contacted their local police departments.
"It's you troublemakers again! You won't escape this time!" One Officer Jenny recognized Mars and his gang as repeat offenders.
They had caused problems on the bridge many times, racing their motorcycles recklessly and endangering tourists. The police had responded to numerous reports but had never caught them—the gang always fled at the first sign of sirens, and officers were reluctant to pursue at high speeds with civilians present.
This was the first time they'd been caught, thanks to the fortunate timing of calls from both directions.
Mars and his gang looked grim. They never expected to be apprehended because of some kids with bicycles.
"And you lot—are you with them too?" The other Officer Jenny eyed Tyra's group suspiciously, noting their similar attire.
"N-no! We... we have nothing to do with them!" Tyra stuttered nervously.
Although they knew each other, they weren't associated with Mars's gang. However, since they also frequently rode on the bridge, they were understandably anxious.
"Um, Officer Jenny, they were actually helping us," Misty intervened, her kind nature showing through. Despite their initial annoyance, Tyra's group had ultimately sided with them against Mars.
Hearing Misty's defense, Tyra and his friends gave her grateful looks. The officers then noticed Ash's group properly. When the Officer Jenny from Sunnytown spotted Ash, she quickly approached.
She studied Ash and Pikachu for a moment before asking, "You're Ash, right?"
"Yes," Ash replied, unsure how she knew him.
"Great! I'm Jenny from Sunnytown. Nurse Joy at our center just caught me before I left and asked me to keep an eye out for you. That Shellder's condition has worsened—it urgently needs the special medicine you're carrying!"
Officer Jenny looked relieved. Ash was startled by the news—Nurse Joy had told them there was no rush, but apparently the Pokémon's condition had suddenly deteriorated.
"What?! This is all their fault! If it weren't for these troublemakers, we would have arrived long ago!" Misty exclaimed angrily.
Mars and his gang looked even more uncomfortable. Now they weren't just facing charges for reckless driving—they might be held responsible for endangering a Pokémon's life.
"We need to get there right away!" Ash declared, knowing that with the police present, they no longer needed to worry about the bosozoku.
"Yes, let's go," Officer Jenny nodded, but just then...
BOOM!!!
A sudden explosion of thunder roared overhead. No one had noticed the sky darkening. Another thunderclap startled everyone as strong winds whipped across the bridge, and the sea below began churning violently.
WHOOSH! SPLASH! PATTER-PATTER-PATTER!!!
Heavy rain poured down, accompanied by powerful gusts that swept across the bicycle road.
The entire bridge was quickly drenched by the downpour.
Although they were on a bridge, they were also over the ocean, where weather could change drastically without warning. The storm had arrived suddenly, with barely any advance signs.
The sky was now completely overcast with dark, angry clouds.
"Damn it—why now of all times?" Officer Jenny from Sunnytown frowned as she surveyed the worsening conditions. With such heavy rain, it seemed unlikely that Ash and his friends could continue their journey safely.
