"Pikapi!!"
"Pika pika!"
The sounds gradually grew louder as Pikachu emerged from the tall grass. Soon, Ash and his Pikachu were surrounded by wild Pikachu.
"Pickup!!"
Ash's Pikachu jumped down from his shoulder and greeted his companions. The other Pikachu weren't surprised by this visit; they had come to say goodbye to their friend.
"Pika pika!!"
The lead Pikachu glanced at Ash, then looked behind as the group of Pikachu made way for a small Pikachu walking forward, carefully holding a yellow box.
The small device had yellow on the top, bottom, and sides, with a gray back and white front. There appeared to be an empty slot on the front face.
The little Pikachu approached Ash and his partner, then held out the box to Ash with a gentle push.
"Huh? You want to give this to me?" Ash asked, slightly stunned.
"Pickup~"
The little Pikachu nodded slightly. Ash crouched down and accepted the gift. It was about palm-sized and surprisingly heavy, like holding a brick, though it clearly wasn't one.
"This is...!" Ash exclaimed in surprise. Misty looked confused as she examined what seemed like an ordinary box.
"Ash, do you recognize this thing?" she asked.
"Yeah! This is an Electirizer!" Ash replied, surprised that the wild Pikachu had such a rare item.
He knew exactly what an Electirizer was - essentially a super-powerful battery. This small box contained concentrated electrical energy that naturally absorbed power from its surroundings.
Legend had it that the power stored in an Electirizer could supply electricity to a medium-sized city like Pewter City for an entire week, depending on how much energy was stored inside.
But the Electirizer had another important function - it was an evolution item. When held by an Electabuzz during a trade, it would trigger its final evolution into Electivire.
This made it incredibly rare and valuable. While Electirizers could be purchased in some large Pokémon department stores, the price was ridiculously high.
"Electirizer?" Misty asked, unfamiliar with the item.
"The Electirizer is a rare power storage device. Besides storing electricity, I've heard it can help Electabuzz evolve!" Brock explained briefly. "All in all, it's an extremely valuable item."
"You really want to give this to me?" Ash asked again, holding the Electirizer.
"Pikapi!!"
The little Pikachu nodded. The Electirizer actually had little use for the wild Pikachu, as it didn't affect most Pokémon. At most, it helped absorb excess electricity.
Living together in a group, whenever one of them experienced an electrical overcharge, they would simply ask their companions to help absorb the excess power, solving the problem naturally.
The excess electricity actually benefited the others when converted into their bodies, so there was no need for the Electirizer. After discussing it among themselves, they decided to give it to Ash as thanks for helping them.
"In that case, I'll accept it. Thank you!" Ash said gratefully.
While he had no immediate use for it without an Electabuzz, Ash didn't want to refuse their kindness and appreciated the thoughtful gift.
"Pikachu~"
The little Pikachu shook its head as if to say "you're welcome," then turned to Ash's Pikachu with slightly twinkling eyes before stepping forward to give him a hug.
"Pika!!!"
Ash's Pikachu and the little Pikachu said their goodbyes, and then Pikachu jumped back onto Ash's shoulder.
It was undoubtedly sad for Pikachu, having just separated from the Kangaskhan mother and child, and now parting ways with these newfound friends. Nevertheless, Pikachu resolutely continued the journey with Ash and the others. The three trainers said farewell to the wild Pikachu and departed.
The Pikachu colony watched as their companion left with Ash, each with different emotions in their eyes.
Perhaps after witnessing the bond between Ash and his Pikachu, some might choose to leave their forest home someday to experience a different kind of life.
After saying goodbye to the Pikachu, Ash and his friends continued through the jungle. After hiking through the forest for several days, they finally found their location on the map.
The Pikachu forest hadn't been marked on their map before.
But after traveling for days, they finally determined their position. They were now very close to the next town - Stone Town.
This town wasn't large, similar in size to Pallet Town, but it was located near a mine, making the ore business particularly prosperous.
The minerals here weren't like those in Pewter City. Most were Rock-type ores that could only be mined by Rock-type Pokémon. The mineral deposits this town relied on were reportedly quite rich, with precious and expensive ores frequently discovered.
So while not as large as Pewter City, Stone Town was definitely wealthier.
"According to the map, we're about to reach Stone Town. We can take a short rest there!" Brock announced, studying the map.
"Great, I finally have a place to clean up!" Misty said happily. Though she had grown accustomed to roughing it in the wilderness, staying in town was naturally more comfortable.
CRASH!
Suddenly, there was a loud noise that made Pikachu's ears twitch. The sound wasn't subtle—Ash and his friends heard it clearly.
"Did you hear that? Something's happening nearby," Misty said, looking around in confusion.
"Yeah! It must be close!" Ash nodded, scanning the area.
Pikachu was also looking around. After a moment, his ears twitched again, and he pointed toward a bush not far away before running toward it.
"Pikapi!!"
"Over there?" Seeing Pikachu's reaction, the three trainers immediately followed.
