Pokemon: A different Ash

Chapter 4: 4. Spearow's Attack

"During the break, let's learn some little knowledge about Pokémon. Just now we mentioned that Weedle evolves into Kakuna, and after Kakuna evolves, it becomes Beedrill."

"So, do you know what type Beedrill is?"

Everyone sat on the grass and listened to the question raised by Professor Oak. Most of the children liked Pokémon very much, but they only knew the basics about interacting with them.

They didn't know much about Pokémon. Some things were only known when Professor Oak mentioned them. Many children answered according to common sense.

"Bug type!!" Some children knew it before, and some children just guessed that Beedrill is a Bug type after hearing the description earlier.

"Everyone is right, Beedrill is indeed a Bug type Pokémon, but Pokémon can have more than one type, so Beedrill also has a Poison type."

"So when you are in the wild, you must not provoke Beedrill. Its Poison Barb is very toxic. If you become a Trainer and are attacked by Beedrill in the future, you must find the nearest Pokémon Center for treatment!"

Most of the children at the summer camp dream of becoming trainers in the future, so Professor Oak is also responsible for teaching some basic knowledge.

"Yes!!" The children responded seriously.

"So... let's ask a more difficult question. Does anyone know what Beedrill's Ability is?"

This question stumped most children. Many adults don't know this kind of detail, let alone children.

"Swarm!"

"Swarm, Sniper!" Only two people spoke.

Two voices sounded at the same time. One was Gary, the grandson of Professor Oak who knew more than the average child, and the second was Ash.

As a time traveler, Ash naturally knew more than Gary, at least a little more than the current Gary.

"Oh?? Ash actually knows about hidden Abilities. It seems that you have a good knowledge of Pokémon!"

Hearing the answers from the two, he was quite satisfied with his grandson but was even more surprised by Ash's answer. Today's children often can't even recognize types, and the Ability question was a spontaneous addition.

As a teacher, he sometimes included a bonus question at the end of a test. If students got it right, they earned extra points. If they got it wrong or didn't answer, it was okay. He didn't expect these children to know about Abilities.

But both Gary and Ash knew. Gary knowing isn't surprising, as the grandson of a Pokémon Professor. But Ash not only knew about Abilities, he knew about hidden Abilities.

Ash knew that the so-called hidden Ability was termed as Dream Ability in previous games, and some Pokémon could only have one or two Abilities.

In the games, the fifth generation introduced a Pokémon Dream World, where Pokémon with hidden Abilities could be obtained.

But in the anime, Pokémon can directly have hidden Abilities.

Of course, no matter what Ability it is, there can only be one. It's just that a hidden Ability is relatively rare, but not necessarily more useful.

"Professor, what is a hidden ability?" some children suddenly asked after hearing this.

"The so-called hidden abilities are relatively rare abilities. Some Pokémon have uncommon abilities. Professor Aurea Juniper of the Unova Region is an expert in this field."

"But so far, even Professor Juniper has not been able to fully analyze all the hidden abilities of Pokémon."

"Ability is a very useful thing in Trainer battles, so if you become a Trainer in the future, you must pay special attention to your Pokémon and make sure they have the right Ability." Professor Oak explained the issue of Abilities and glanced appreciatively at Ash.

"It's amazing!!" The children looked at Ash, impressed that he knew something even professors are still studying.

"Snort!!"

Gary was a little upset when he saw Ash getting all the attention. He turned his head arrogantly, thinking, this guy didn't know anything about this kind of knowledge before, even the most basic type matchups. Why is he so knowledgeable now?

"Okay, everyone should remember this well. We are going to move to the next activity site!" Professor Oak said to the children, noticing the time.

"Yes!" The children quickly regained their energy, especially since these activities were much more interesting than school, making them look forward to the summer camp even more.

Plop flop! ! ! !

"Huh?" Just as they were about to leave, a noise sounded, and Professor Oak subconsciously stopped.

"What was that sound?" The surrounding staff also noticed it and spoke up.

There seemed to be the sound of something beating. The children also stopped and looked around curiously. Suddenly, a sound came from the forest.

Quack! ! !

"This voice is... Oh no!!" As a Pokémon Professor, Professor Oak immediately recognized the sound.

Whoosh! ! ! !

Just as Professor Oak was about to speak, countless black shadows leaped out from the forest, flying into the air, and surrounded everyone from above, looking down at them.

"It's Spearow!!"

"How are there so many Spearows? When we checked some time ago, we didn't find these guys!" The staff were surprised by the number of Spearows.

They had checked the location before holding the summer camp. Although there were some Pokémon inhabiting the area, most were not too threatening. At that time, there were no groups of Spearows.

"Stop talking and protect the children! Leave quickly." Professor Oak remained calm and immediately shouted at the staff.

The children had never seen such a scene. Most of them liked cute Pokémon that are close to humans, but had never seen these fierce Pokémon. Many showed scared expressions.
