Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Learning Ice Punch

Gladion surveyed the backyard training grounds, watching his Pokémon go through their paces. Machoke stood at the center, its muscular frame radiating determination.

Opposite to it, Milotic undulated gracefully, her serpentine body coiling and uncoiling as she fired bursts of icy beams. He wanted his Pokemon to learn all types of move that they can actually learn. And he started with teaching Milotic, Ice beam.

"Alright, Machoke, let's see you connect with that Ice Punch!" Gladion called out.

'He had already learned fire punch and thunder punch. That leaves only Ice punch. If he get's it, he would have a move to counter many different Pokemon types. Heck when he evolves to a machamp, he could use all three of these punches simultaneously with three of his hands. That would be so awesome and cool.' Gladion thought excitedly

Machoke reared back its fist in front of a rock, the air around it shimmering with cold. But as the punch lashed out, the ice energy fizzled and dissipated, leaving the strike as nothing more than a normal, if powerful, blow.

Gladion frowned, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "Hmm, it seems you're still having trouble channeling the ice type energy. Let's try something different."

He turned to Milotic, who had paused her Ice Beam practice. "Milotic, I need you to keep hitting Machoke with Ice Beam. The more he gets exposed to ice energy, the better he'll be able to integrate it into his attacks. He might also get resilient to ice type moves as a bonus."

Milotic let out a melodic trill, her eyes gleaming with understanding. She launched a whitish- blueish beam of ice, which Machoke weathered stoically, bracing itself against the frigid assault.

She followed it up with another beam while Erza's Arcanine helped Machoke from time to time to heat him up so that it goes not get frost bites.

As Machoke endured the barrage, Gladion noticed Eevee in the corner of the yard under a large tree shade. He wanted her to be in a dark environment for as long as possible so that she could evolve into an Umbreon.

"Eevee, dear"

Her ears perked up in rapt attention.

"Keep working on that Bite. We need to get you proficient in dark-type moves if we want you to evolve into Umbreon."

Eevee yipped enthusiastically, her stubby legs carrying her forward as she clamped down on a practice dummy, her jaws working furiously.

Gladion nodded, satisfied with the progress. "Alright, everyone, let's keep at it. Machoke, don't get discouraged—I know you can master Ice Punch. Milotic, keep those Ice Beams coming. And Eevee, show me how tough those teeth of yours can be!"

The training session continued, with Machoke weathering icy assault after icy assault, while Eevee honed her Bite technique. Gladion watched closely, offering encouragement and adjusting their regimen as needed.

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, Gladion called for a break. "Great work, everyone. Take five minutes break, and then we'll go back to training."

Machoke gratefully collapsed onto the grass, its chest heaving. Milotic glided over to a small pond, her scales glistening in the fading light. Eevee bounded over to Gladion, nuzzling his leg affectionately.

Gladion reached down, running his fingers through Eevee's soft fur. "You're all doing so well. I'm proud of you." He paused, his gaze drifting to Machoke. "Especially you, Machoke. I know it's not easy trying to learn a new type of attack, but I believe in you."

Machoke's eyes widened, and it let out a deep, rumbling grunt, its expression one of determination and gratitude.

Gladion smiled, then turned his attention to Eevee. "And you, my little dark-type in the making. Keep up the good work on that Bite. I can't wait to see you evolve into a powerful Umbreon."

Eevee yipped excitedly, her tail wagging back and forth.

Milotic, sensing the moment, glided over and nuzzled Gladion's other leg, her serpentine body coiling around him protectively.

Gladion chuckled, reaching out to stroke Milotic's elegant neck. "And you, my beautiful water-type, keep helping Machoke. I know it's not easy for you, but your Ice Beam is exactly what he needs right now."

Milotic let out a soft, affirming trill, her eyes shining with understanding.

Gladion took a deep breath, feeling the bond between him and his Pokémon growing stronger with each passing day. "Alright, time to get back to work. Machoke, let's try something new—I want you to focus on using your Punch to deflect Milotic's Ice Beam. And try channeling ice energy while you are at it. The Ice beam would make it easier for you to sense to sense the ice energy."

Machoke stood up, its muscles rippling with renewed energy. Milotic readied her Ice Beam, and the two began a graceful, icy dance, with Machoke using its fists to bat away the frigid projectiles.

Gladion watched, his eyes narrowed in concentration, analyzing Machoke's movements and offering occasional adjustments. "That's it, Machoke! You're starting to get the feel for it. Keep going, and don't be afraid to put a little extra oomph into those punches!"

Eevee, not wanting to be left out, bounded over to Gladion, jumping up and down excitedly. Gladion chuckled and reached down, scooping her up in his arms. "Don't worry, Eevee, your turn is coming. Let's let Machoke and Milotic have their moment, and then we'll work on your Bite some more, okay?"

Eevee let out a contented hum, snuggling into Gladion's embrace.

As the afternoon faded into evening, Gladion called for one last exercise. "Alright, everyone, let's try something a little different. Machoke, I want you to use your Fire Punch and Thunder Punch in quick succession, with Milotic and Eevee supporting you."

Machoke nodded, its eyes narrowing with focus. It reared back its fist, the air around it shimmering with heat, then lashed out with a blazing punch. Before the flames had even dissipated, Machoke pivoted, its other fist crackling with electricity as it delivered a thunderous blow.

Milotic responded instantly, unleashing a torrent of Ice Beam that collided with Machoke's attacks, creating a dazzling display of clashing elemental energies. Eevee, not to be outdone, darted in and clamped down on the practice dummy with a powerful Bite, her jaws glowing with dark power.

Gladion watched, his heart pounding with excitement. "That's it, everyone! Keep it up! Machoke, don't let up—show me what you can do!"

The backyard was alive with the sounds of Pokémon battle, echoing through the twilight as Gladion's team pushed themselves to new heights. He knew that with each passing day, they were growing stronger, more resilient, and more prepared for the challenges that lay ahead.

As the final rays of the sun dipped below the horizon, Gladion called an end to the training session. "Alright, that's enough for today. You all did an incredible job. Now, let's get you all cleaned up and fed. Tomorrow, we'll work on some new strategies."

His Pokémon gathered around him, their eyes shining with pride and loyalty.

'They are really becoming strong. Kids should at least be given their first Pokemon before their official age so that they can start training them at the earliest.

Just look at Cynthia who got her Gible at a very young age or Steven stone who got his beldum at a young age, both of these Pokemon became Ace Pokemon of Champions.

In time, his Pokemon would also reach that level of power. Gladion was sure of it.
