Pokemon - A real story

It was a closed room with a large table, couple of chairs, a sofa and a cupboard. The room was quite big for a single person. A young man was sitting on the either side of the table on a chair while a middle aged man was sitting on the opposite side of the table.

"So, you believe me now?", asked Goodman.

"Yes, I believe you. But why do you want to recruit me? I just don't understand. I am just an ordinary trainer.", asked Brine.

"I just became a new Elite 4 member because I am powerful. But I am new to this and I don't have any connections. Being an elite 4 member comes with a lot of perks but the political side of it is also very brutal.

I am new to this and I know that I need someone that I can trust. But I don't have anyone under me. That is why I want to recruit you as my disciple."

Brine finally understood what he wanted but he still had a lot of questions.

"I still have a lot of questions."

"Ask away. This co-operation will not go well if we don't trust each other.", said Goodman.

"First of all, Why me especially? What does being a disciple mean?"

"The reason I selected you is because you are not connected with any other parties. You are young and you are pure. You helped those kids even though you don't have money. You stood up for your Pokemons when you knew that you were going to die.

I also saw your Pokemon following each of your commands."

"But don't all Pokemon follow their trainer's commands?"

"Normally they do but when an uncommon and a common rank Pokemon is facing a pseudo-king rank Pokemon, most Pokemon would rather run away to save their lives.

When they stood up to fight for you, I understood that they trusted you like family. That is very rare to achieve specially for a young trainer like you. Creating such a relationship takes a lot of time.", explained Goodman.

"Oh, I never thought about that."

"Yes because you are young and inexperienced. But you will learn this slowly. Now, being my disciple means that I will personally train you and get you all the resources that you want. But nothing comes for free.

If I am doing all of these things to you, then you must also support me at the time to need."

"But I don't even know what you want to do in the future. What if you are planning to do something evil?"

"You don't have to worry about that. My future plan is similar to yours. I feel that the future will be tide battles. I have noticed that the wild Pokemons are getting restless in these few years. I want the Unova region to be protected from these tide battles.

Of course, I also want to become the champion. I might need your help in this too in the future. But first, you have to become strong enough to help me."

"If that is all you ask, then I have no problem in supporting you. But you should also help my sister."

"Brine, I think that you are not getting what I am saying. I will give you and your sister a place to live and food to eat. But if you want me to personally help your sister like I am doing it to you, then she should also prove her worth.

If not, then you will have to take care of her, yourself. But she is very young now. That will take some time. By that time, you will have enough money and resources to help her."

Brine nodded after hearing the proposal.

"So, how do I start?"

"First of all, we will get you a new Pokemon. Just think it as a welcoming gift from my side. Choose a Pokemon from the Unova region and I will get it for you.

Then I will start to train you in the basics. You also need to train your body. You are too weak right now."

The next day,

Brine called his parents and told them that he would be training under Goodman and he told them that his sister would be living with him in the Unova league city.

They were surprised to hear such a thing. The table had turned and now they were trying to get on his good side. But he was neutral on this.

"Brine, can you help your cousin too? I want both of them to train under Mr. Goodman.", said his uncle.

"Uncle, I am sorry but I am all new to this. I only got this position in pure luck and I cannot recommend him right now. Mr. Goodman didn't even agree to train my sister. He only told that my sister could live with me.

But after some months, I will try to get on his good side and I will see what I can do."

His Uncle could not say more after hearing such a thing.

After 2 days, he could finally see his sister.

"Luna, we can finally live a good life now. Aren't you happy?", asked Brine to his sister.

"Yes, brother. I never doubted you."

"Hehe, I know and I will make sure that you also become an outstanding trainer in the future."

The days in the new place was hard to adjust for Brine and Luna but they got used to it quite fast.

When Goodman said that he would get a Pokemon for Brine, he immediately asked for Deino. A pseudo-legendary Pokemon but Goodman denied the request.

"I told you to choose one from the Unova region but you have to choose the one that I cannot get for you. Also, you are not experienced enough to train a dragon-type Pokemon now. Choose another."

Then he asked for Axew but Goodman said that he was not ready to train a dragon type Pokemon now. Finally, he settled for Zorua. It was a very rare Pokemon and it was very powerful too.

Mr. Goodman focused on training Brine himself and making him stronger. He would tell Brine to do a lot of exercise. He also focused on the health of Brine's new Pokemons and their training.

A few months had passed and Goodman was pulling his hair after training Brine.

"How could his Pokemon get so strong so fast? And what the hell is with the abilities and hidden abilities of his Pokemons? Why are they so different?", said Goodman in a loud voice.

Of course, he didn't say it in front of Brine. He didn't want to increase Brine's ego. But this was a serious thing. He had never heard of such a rapid progress.

"He might be my salvation. There is still hope.", said Goodman.

In 4 months, all of Brine's Pokemon have reached elemental rank. Sandile, who was now Krokodile had almost reached pseudo-king rank. It would reach pseudo-king rank in a week.

This was a rapid progress. All of their abilities and hidden abilities had not only been fully mastered but they had also been upgraded and evolved. Goodman didn't even know that such a thing was possible.

"Brine, come over here. We need to talk now.", said Goodman.

The relationship of Brine and Goodman had truly improved and now Brine treated him like a second father.

"Yes sir."

Brine went near and sat on the chair waiting for Goodman's instruction.

"I am happy with your progress. You now have 6 Pokemons and all of them are in elemental rank. That is good progress in only 4 months but now we need to plan for the future."

"Future? What do you mean?"

"Boy, you are still so stupid. Your progress is very strange and fast. Till now, no one had noticed it cause I have protected you but they will start to notice this in the coming future and it is not a good thing."

"But isn't getting strong a good thing?"

"Yes, it is but there are some greedy people that will not like that. You have my protection till now but my protection will not be enough. We need to talk to another person to safeguard your secrets."

"But you are already an elite 4 member. Who is more powerful than you?"

"Of course, it would be champion Alder."

"Really? We are going to talk to champion Alder?"

"Yes, we are. I will set up a meeting. Be polite to him. He is a young champion but he has lots of experience. But he is a good guy. If we can talk to him and make him agree to protect you, then we will not have to worry about anything."

Brine thought about this issue. Now he fully trusted Goodman in everything that he did for Brine. He had tested him a lot secretly and found out that Goodman truly meant well for him and his sister.

This was progress and he was ready for it.

It took a few days for Goodman to have an appointment with Alder. Even though he was an elite 4 member, Alder was the champion and was constantly busy. He kept telling Alder that something good had come up that might change the history of Unova in the future and he must meet with Alder.

That was the only reason Alder pushed other meetings to meet with Goodman.

"Brine, we are going to meet with Alder. Be sure to be polite.", said Goodman repeatedly.

Champion was a big deal in any region. A person cannot be a champion if he or she was not strong to control the region.

The day finally arrived and now only a door separated Brine and Goodman from meeting Alder. They knocked on the door and heard a voice.

"Come inside, Goodman. I have been waiting for you."

Goodman and Brine entered the room. The room was very lavish with flowers and expensive interiors but Brine was not concentrating on those. He was only looking at Alder. It was every trainer's dream to meet with the champion and he was now meeting Alder.

Alder's focus instantly went to Brine. He could tell that Brine was young but he had potential. He could not understand why Goodman had brought a young trainer to this meeting.

"Come sit and make yourself comfortable.", said Alder.

Goodman and Brine gave a short bow and sat on the chair and exchanged greetings.

"Goodman, I am busy man and I have some other works in 30 minutes. So, please tell me why you wanted to meet with me.", said Alder.

"Sir, I came here to talk about Brine."

"Oh, what is so interesting about this young trainer?", asked Alder. His eyes filled with curiosity.

"He had been training with me for 4 months and all of his Pokemons are now in elemental rank. One of them is also close to reaching pseudo-king rank."

"WHAT!!! Are you sure about this Goodman? Don't lie about such things to me."

"Sir, I would not have come here if I was trying to scam you. You can test him if you like. I wanted to groom him and make him my second but I realized that I might not be able to protect him. So, I came to you."

"Hmm, Okay. Let's go to the training ground and you, young man. Show me all that you have got."

Alder made Brine call out all of his Pokemons and he personally tested them. He looked at Brine and found out that the boy was still 13 years old. A round of possibilities started to run inside his mind.

This was really great.

After the testing, Alder said in a serious voice, "So, what do you want from me?"

"I want you to protect him and keep his secret until he is ready to fight against the world.", said Goodman.

"Hmm, you did well coming to me. I will tell you what I have planned for him. First, I will tell the world about his name and tell that he is a genius."

"But sir, what about keeping his secret."

"Don't worry. That is the only thing I will tell them about him. No one will know his identity. Not even the elite 4 members. You can trust me on this. Our region needs hope. A genius trainer who can help us in the future.

Sinnoh has Cynthia. Hoenn has Wallace and Steven. Johto has Lance and Kanto has that Axel Blaze. Now, Unova will also have Brine.

I want to personally train him but I did do that, I cannot keep his secret. But I will help Brine in all other things."

Brine felt as if the world had changed. He was now being compared to Cynthia and Axel. Those were like the most genius young trainers in the entire world. He just could not believe what was happening right now.

"But Brine, if I am helping you going to such lengths, then you also must be loyal to Unova region. Can you do that for me?"

"Yes, I can do that. I was born in this region. I don't want to betray it."

"Good. When you have a king-rank Pokemon, I will help you participate in tide battles. But till now you need to train and Goodman, he also needs a lot of experience."

"Yes sir. I will make sure to make Brine the dark horse of Unova region."
