Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 129: Chapter 129: The Protective Primeape

Seeing their leader turn serious, the other Primeape stopped teasing Serizawa and fixed their eyes on Ron, making it clear that if a one-on-one battle didn't work, they wouldn't hesitate to gang up on him.

With its ability to sense emotions, Kirlia quickly grasped the Primeape leader's thoughts.

The leader's challenge stemmed from a desire to protect its son's dignity after its underwhelming performance. It wanted to regain face for its son and set an example, rather than acting out of malice toward Ron or his Machamp.

Unaware of the backstory, Serizawa grew nervous, debating whether to report to his captain to prevent a larger conflict.

"Don't worry," Ron reassured. "Kirlia already told me—the Primeape just wants to battle my Machamp. That's all."

"Right, Machamp?"

Machamp silently stepped forward, standing by Ron to answer the call.

Despite the Primeape being twelve levels higher, Machamp showed no fear.

"Ron, this Primeape is at high Elite Level. Are you sure you want your Machamp to battle it?"

Serizawa couldn't help but voice his concern again. To him, letting Machamp fight the Primeape was tantamount to sending it to be pummeled.

"It's fine. My Machamp is really strong," Ron replied confidently.

"This spot will do for the battle; it's wide enough."

Ron instructed Persian and the others to clear the area, making space for the fight.

Once the other Primeape calmed down, Serizawa finally believed Kirlia's interpretation of their intent. Still, he couldn't understand Ron's reasoning but chose not to intervene.

"Machamp, let's go! Shave—Thunder Lance!"

"It's here! Ron's signature move!"

Hearing Ron's slightly unusual command, Serizawa couldn't hide his excitement.

As Ron's feats spread among the rangers, moves like Shave and its derivatives had become iconic of him.

Electric energy surged as Machamp disappeared from its spot.

The Primeape, expecting an easy win, grew serious upon seeing Machamp's speed.

Machamp's rapid charge even allowed it to maneuver behind Primeape before launching an attack.

Having reached high Elite Level, Pokémon like Primeape experience a comprehensive boost in physical attributes, especially those reliant on raw strength like fighting-types.

Sensing an almost prickling danger from behind, Primeape quickly spun around and countered with Brick Break. It deflected Machamp's attack and forced it back.

"Machamp, steady yourself! Shave—Heavy Blade!"

Responding to Ron's command, Machamp braced itself mid-retreat and leapt forward, slashing at Primeape with a powerful kick.

Primeape, however, displayed its prowess as an high Elite Level Pokémon by blocking the attack again with Brick Break.

The twelve-level gap became glaringly obvious.

Machamp's once-unrivaled speed wasn't enough to catch Primeape off guard.

"Machamp, time to go all out! Shave—Thousand Shadow Blades!"

As Machamp's strength grew, its ability to control its power also improved.

Even so, tapping into its sealed potential still gave Machamp a significant edge.

Using Close Combat, Machamp vanished again, appearing like a flurry of afterimages attacking Primeape from all directions. Its speed made it seem as though there were no pauses between the strikes.

Primeape readied a Cross Chop to counter, but Machamp's relentless barrage overwhelmed it momentarily. Unfortunately, Machamp lacked the stamina to maintain its onslaught.

The rapid bursts of speed and execution of a full-power Close Combat taxed Machamp's body heavily, leaving it momentarily unable to continue its assault.

As Machamp regained its composure, Primeape seized the opportunity, launching an aggressive charge with Close Combat.

"Machamp, intercept with Shave and follow up with Focus Punch!"

Instead of dodging, Ron wanted to test the full extent of an high Elite Level Pokémon's strength.

The gale-force energy from Primeape's charge didn't faze it. With its full might, Primeape attacked.

The clash of their moves caused a shockwave, kicking up dirt and momentarily obscuring the battlefield.

When the dust settled, Machamp was pushed back, leaving deep grooves in the ground from its feet.

Under the recoil of Focus Punch, Machamp stood immobile, its left arm trembling and body covered in visible injuries.

The disparity in strength was clear—if Primeape wanted to end the battle, Machamp wouldn't be able to resist.

Primeape's gaze conveyed its question: knowing the gap in power, would Machamp still fight?

"Machamp, one last move! Shave—Thunder Blade!"

Ron's command rang out as Machamp charged its right fist, forming an Aura Sphere in its palm.

Layering it with the power of Thunder Punch, the sphere morphed into a blade-like shape.

Executing Shave, Machamp vanished again, leaving behind the sound of crackling thunder.

Having witnessed Machamp's determination, Primeape unleashed its full strength, meeting Machamp's combination attack head-on with Close Combat.

Primeape's fighting energy collided with the Thunder Blade, the ferocity of Machamp's technique surprising it.

For a Pokémon at high Elite level, it was the first time it encountered such formidable resistance from an opponent twelve levels lower.

Even so, it was clear this was Machamp's limit.

With a flurry of punches, Primeape overwhelmed the Thunder Blade, sending Machamp flying. It landed heavily on the ground, unable to continue.
