Chapter 50: Chapter 50:Sin Is Back!?
Ace and the girls were resting in a clearing, enjoying the peaceful surroundings as their Pokémon trained nearby. Smeargle sat lazily on a rock, observing the practice battles, while Starmie took charge in guiding Lapras. The newly acquired Lapras eagerly listened to Starmie's instructions, practicing its Ice Beam and Brine attacks against a sturdy boulder.
Ace leaned back against a tree, watching his Pokémon with a satisfied smirk. 'Lapras is picking things up quickly. Starmie's a great teacher.' He glanced at Smeargle, who yawned and dipped its tail in some dirt, drawing random patterns. 'And this guy's just enjoying the show as usual.'
Suddenly, a sharp beep came from Ace's pocket. His Pokédex had received a message.
"Huh?" Ace muttered, fishing it out.
The girls turned their attention to him, curiosity evident in their eyes. "Who's it from?" May asked, shifting closer.
Ace glanced at the screen and raised an eyebrow. "It's from Professor Cerise."
Serena tilted her head. "Professor Cerise? What does he want?"
Ace pressed a button, and the mechanical voice of his Pokédex AI spoke up. "You have received an important message from Professor Cerise."
The group exchanged glances before Ace played the message.
Professor Cerise's voice came through clearly. "Hello, Ace. I hope you're doing well. I'm sorry to drop this on you so suddenly, but I realized you and the girls will likely be heading near Grampa Canyon soon. I wanted to ask a favor."
Dawn blinked. "Grampa Canyon?"
Ace nodded. "It's on the way to Fuchsia City. We'll be passing through it soon."
The message continued. "I'm currently conducting some research on fossils, and I could use a few samples. If you and the girls come across any, I would really appreciate it if you could send some to Vermilion City."
May perked up. "Oh! That sounds fun! I've never actually gone fossil hunting before."
Serena grinned. "It could be an adventure. Plus, it'd be nice to help Professor Cerise with his research."
Ace chuckled, already typing out a reply. "We'll handle it, Professor." After sending the confirmation, he leaned back and smirked. "This actually works in my favor."
Dawn raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Ace's eyes gleamed with excitement. 'The Aerodactyl. It's supposed to be right underneath Grampa Canyon. I was already planning on catching it, and now I have the perfect excuse to stay there for a while.'
Before he could say anything, Serena clapped her hands. "Alright, enough talk! Lunch is ready!"
Ace shook his thoughts away, standing up with a grin. "Well, can't plan on an empty stomach."
With that, the group gathered around, enjoying their meal while their Pokémon took a break from training. Their journey to Grampa Canyon was about to get a lot more interesting.
While the group was resting, the scene shifted elsewhere.
High above the clouds, a massive flying ship cruised silently through the sky, hidden from the eyes of those below. Its sleek, dark exterior reflected the faint glow of the sun, giving it an ominous presence as it soared toward its destination.
Inside the ship, heavy metallic footsteps echoed through a dimly lit corridor. A man wearing a dark helmet and a featureless mask walked with precise movements, exuding an air of discipline and authority. He stopped in front of a large, reinforced door and placed his hand on a scanner. A soft beep sounded before the door slid open with a hiss.
Inside the room, the atmosphere was cold and sterile, illuminated only by the soft blue glow of display screens. In the center sat a woman with short silver hair and piercing silver eyes, her gaze locked onto several statues displayed in front of her. They weren't ordinary decorations—they were lifelike sculptures of powerful Pokémon, each frozen in battle-ready poses. A fierce Charizard, a towering Garchomp, and several other rare Pokémon stood as eerie trophies under the dim lighting.
The masked man took a step forward and bowed respectfully. "Boss J, the ship will be arriving at Grampa Canyon soon."
The woman, known only as J, snorted in response. Her cold, calculating eyes flickered with impatience as she leaned back in her chair. "Make preparations. I want to ensure the last Pokémon is captured before we begin the shipment."
The man straightened, nodding sharply. "As you say, Boss J."
With that, he turned on his heel and left the room, the door hissing shut behind him. The silver-haired woman remained seated, a smirk creeping onto her lips as she gazed at her collection. Soon, another rare specimen would be added to her assets, making the shipment bear more money.
The scene then shifted to another location—a dimly lit, dust-filled room that reeked of damp wood and old paper. The air was thick with frustration and rage.
A man, clad in nothing but a tattered black cloak, stood in the center of the room, his body covered in bandages. His face twisted with fury as he grabbed a nearby table and flipped it over, sending its contents crashing to the ground.
"Fucking Proton!" he roared, his voice hoarse with anger. "That bastard almost got me killed!"
The man—known only as Sin—clenched his fists, his whole body trembling with barely contained rage. His breathing was ragged as he kicked a broken chair aside, sending it skidding across the dusty floor.
His mind replayed the horrifying encounter over and over. He had done a lot of risky jobs before, but this? This was on a whole different level.
"What the hell was that idiot thinking?!" Sin muttered through gritted teeth, his eyes burning with frustration. "Making me steal from them?!"
His bandaged fist slammed against the wall, the force of the impact rattling the frail wooden structure.
"A fucking Zekrom and a fucking Reshiram?!" he growled, his eyes wild with disbelief. "Who the hell just has those?!"
The memory of that terrifying power sent shivers down his spine. He had never been so close to death before. The way those Pokémon had unleashed their attacks… the sheer destructive force…
Sin took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. His lips curled into a sneer as his mind settled on one thought.
"Team Rocket… You tried to get me killed? Fine."
His fingers curled into a tight fist, his nails digging into his palm.
"I'll show you what happens when you try to screw over Sin."
A dark chuckle escaped his lips, filled with cold, simmering rage.
