Pokemon: Adventure and Journey

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Viridian City

The morning in Viridian City dawned bright and clear. Touma awoke refreshed in the spacious Professor's Room, the quiet comfort a stark contrast to the usual hubbub of a Pokémon Center's common area. His encounter with Team Rocket the previous night, and the subsequent "fan girl" moment with Misty, had certainly kicked off his journey with a bang. He chuckled to himself; his life was certainly never boring now.

After a quick, solitary breakfast. Touma decided to dedicate some time to his other passion: research. He booted up his laptop and connected to his professor forum. With focused intensity, he began to write, detailing his incredible encounter with the legendary Ho-Oh. He described the shimmering rainbow feather, Vulpix's Moonwalk, and the sense of ancient benevolence that emanated from the majestic Pokémon. As he typed, he included a video, recorded seamlessly by his PokéNav, capturing the ethereal descent and departure of Ho-Oh.

Once the comprehensive document and video were uploaded, he specifically sent a direct message with the video to Professor Oak. Almost immediately, Professor Oak's face appeared on a video call, eyes wide with excitement. "Touma! My boy! Is this... is this truly what I think it is?! A Ho-Oh?! And a video! Unbelievable! Simply unbelievable! This is monumental research, Touma! Tell me everything!" Professor Oak practically vibrated with scientific glee, and they chatted excitedly for a bit, Touma sharing more details of the breathtaking encounter. Later, Touma's professor forum inbox would be flooded with notifications and messages from other astonished researchers and professors eager to discuss his groundbreaking discovery.

After his duties were complete. Touma retrieved Vulpix and Pidgey. Both Pokémon were vibrant and full of energy, thanks to Nurse Joy's care. He decided their first priority should be some serious training. Mastering Moonwalk, a move no other Vulpix in this world could use, would give them a significant edge. And Pidgey, with its natural flight, was the perfect sparring partner for Vulpix's aerial learning.

He headed to the outskirts of Viridian City, finding a relatively secluded patch of open field near the forest line. "Alright, Vulpix, Pidgey! Let's get to work!" Touma declared, his voice filled with determination.

Pidgey immediately took to the sky. "Pidgey, try to fly evasively! Vulpix, I want you to chase Pidgey, focusing on improving your Moonwalk. Use it to dodge and keep pace."

Vulpix barked excitedly, launching herself into the air. Her initial attempts at Moonwalk yesterday had been a bit clumsy, but today, she showed remarkable improvement. She propelled herself with rapid, almost invisible kicks, allowing her to dart through the air, weaving and bobbing as Pidgey tried to outmaneuver her. It was less of a chase and more of an aerial dance, a surprising display of agility from the small Fire-type. Touma watched, meticulously analyzing their movements, making mental notes on how Vulpix's "air-kicks" could be integrated into battle strategy. He could already envision her dodging incoming attacks with impossible grace, or closing distances in a blink.

For hours, they trained. Touma worked with Pidgey on honing its Gust attack, aiming for precise gusts of wind to disrupt Vulpix's movements. Then he switched focus to Pidgey's Sand Attack, having it kick up dust to obscure Vulpix's vision, forcing her to rely on other senses. He wanted both his Pokémon to understand how to use their moves defensively and offensively.

By midday, both Vulpix and Pidgey were panting, but their eyes gleamed with satisfaction. Vulpix's Moonwalk was noticeably smoother, almost effortless, and Pidgey's aerial maneuvers were sharper.

"Excellent work, both of you!" Touma praised, handing them each a treat from his bag. "We'll continue this, but for now, let's explore Viridian City a bit and maybe find our next challenge."

Viridian City was bustling. Trainers with their Pokémon walked the streets, shops bustled with activity, and the imposing Viridian Gym loomed in the distance. So a gym challenge was out of the question for now. Instead, he made his way to the Poké Mart, stocking up on more Poké Balls and a few extra Potions. He also browsed the TM selection, mentally noting moves that might benefit his current team or future captures.

As he walked, he couldn't help but notice the occasional whispered conversation or pointed finger. His earlier attempt at anonymity with Nurse Joy had been short-lived. He might be low-key about his status, but news traveled fast in the Pokémon world, especially with a phenomenon like him. He simply offered a polite, small smile if someone caught his eye, before quickly moving on. His mission was to be a trainer, not a public spectacle, at least not yet.

He considered what kind of Pokémon would complement his Vulpix and Pidgey. Perhaps a strong Normal-type, or something that could handle Rock or Water types, which his current duo would struggle against. He pulled out his PokéNav, scrolling through the regional Pokémon data, cross-referencing it with his past life knowledge. The sheer volume of data at his fingertips, coupled with his own insights, was a powerful tool. He realized that with his unique understanding, he could optimize his team in ways most trainers couldn't even dream of.

His eyes fell on a specific entry: the Forest not far from Viridian City. It was known for its river and peculiar Pokémon. A challenging place, but potentially rewarding. He knew it was the perfect place to test his growing team and perhaps find a new member.

he veered towards the verdant, sprawling entrance of the Viridian Forest. The air immediately grew cooler, damp with the scent of rich soil and damp leaves. Towering trees formed a dense canopy, their branches intertwined, casting the forest floor in a mosaic of shadow and dappled light. It was a stark contrast to the open fields of Route 1. This forest was known for its Bug-types, but also for its hidden streams and ponds.

He walked cautiously, his senses alert. He knew the forest could be disorienting, but he trusted Pidgey's natural sense of direction and Vulpix's enhanced aerial mobility. Touma's eyes scanned the undergrowth, seeking out any tell-tale signs of a suitable candidate. He was specifically looking for a Poliwag, known for its agile movements and powerful Water-type attacks.

It wasn't long before he heard it – a soft, rhythmic slapping sound coming from a nearby puddle that had collected from a small stream. Peeking through a curtain of ferns, Touma spotted it: a Poliwag, its small, tadpole-like body wiggling in the water, its signature swirl prominent on its belly. It looked curious and energetic.

"Perfect," Touma murmured, pulling out a Poké Ball. "Alright, Pidgey, let's go!" He released the Seed Pokémon, who materialized with confidence.

The Poliwag immediately noticed their presence and hopped out of the puddle, ready for a fight. Its large eyes fixed on Pidgey.

"Pidgey, use Gust!" Touma commanded, aiming to overwhelm Poliwag with type advantage. Pidgey flaps his wings creating a gust of air hitting Poliwag fast and precise. The Poliwag, surprisingly nimble on land, tried to hop away, but still got hit.

The Poliwag cried out, struggling. It retaliated with a quick Bubble attack, firing a stream of small, frothy bubbles that burst out but Pidgey dodged fast.

"Pidgey finish up with a quick attack and knock Poliwag out" Pidgey use quick attack and boom Poliwag was down.

He threw the Poké Ball, aiming carefully. It hit Poliwag, engulfed it in a flash of light, and pulled it inside. The Poké Ball shook once... twice... three times... click.

"Let's go! We caught a Poliwag!" Touma had a triumphant grin on his face. Pidgey let out a happy chirp.

He immediately released the Poliwag, which blinked owlishly, still a little groggy, but awake. Touma gently petted its head, sprayed the potion, then pulled out his Pokedex.
