Chapter 125: Baby Pokémon

~Third POV~

[Johto Region, Meanwhile, Violet City – Gym]

Meanwhile, at Violet City, at the Violet Gym, Falkner is appointed the new Gym Leader of the Violet Gym as the Pokémon Association Chairman declared, "Falkner, we now designate you the new leader of Violet Gym!! Congrats, young man!"

The Pokémon Association Chairman asks Bill in a demanding tone, "All right, Bill. We appointed this Falkner fellow as you asked. Now you owe us…"

Bill sighed, already annoyed at the Pokémon Association Chairman's request, as he replied in an annoyed tone, "I told you before! I'm tryin' to fix the dang Pokémon storage system! But if I can't even figure out why it broke – "

Before Bill could continue arguing, Falkner expressed concern that his appointment may have caused problems for the Pokémon Association, as he said apologetically, "W-Wait! Please! I'm honored to have been given this post. But I'd hate to think that my appointment has caused trouble within the Pokémon Association. If there's anything I can do to help…"

But Bill interrupts, assuring him in a calm tone, wiping the sweat off his face as he said calmly, "Well, we sure do appreciate that son! But none o' this is your fault! We'll be fine. You just think about being a good Gym Leader. Another friend of mine's about to take the exam too… and between the two of you… Well, we'll talk. Right now we're in the middle O' your installation ceremony!'

Falkner nodded as the Pokémon Association member handed Falkner the Zephyr Badge and explained the duties of a Gym Leader in a serious tone, "Falkner. One of the sacred responsibilities of the Gym Leader is to guard the Zephyr Badge. Trainers will soon be coming from all over to challenge you in your gym; you must test their abilities. You are to bestow this badge only on those you deem truly worthy. Furthermore…"

As the Pokémon Association member continued explaining, Falkner wondered where Gold was curiously, 'Well, Gold, I passed using the Skarmory we captured together. I wish I knew how to find you now… what you're doing at least…'

[Johto Region, Meanwhile, Route 34]

The crisp Johto air filled Azure's lungs as he emerged from the shadowy depths of Ilex Forest. The scent of pine needles faded, replaced by the sweet fragrance of blooming Apricorn trees that lined Route 34.

Pikachu, perched on his shoulder, stretched and yawned, while Eevee, trotting faithfully beside him, wagged her tail with renewed energy. His other Pokémon, safely tucked away in their Poké Balls, were eager for the open road and the challenges that lay ahead.

He'd proven his mettle in Azalea Town, skillfully defeating Bugsy and earning the Hive Badge. Now, with renewed confidence, he ventured onto Route 34, ready to face whatever the path held.

Not only that around his neck was the GS Ball containing the Mythical Pokémon Celebi. It knew how rare it was, so Azure decorated its Poke Ball as a necklace to have a front row seat for the journey ahead with curious eyes.

Azure announced, his voice ringing with enthusiasm as his Pokémon listened, "Alright, team. Let's stay sharp! We never know what kind of Pokémon or trainers we might encounter."

Pikachu sparked his cheeks in agreement, and Eevee let out a cheerful, "Bui!"

The route was bustling with activity. Young trainers eager to test their skills challenged him to battles, and wild Pokémon occasionally darted across his path.

Azure accepted each challenge with a smile, providing valuable experience for his team. Pupitar was thriving, his rocky hide toughening with each battle. Misdreavus honed her psychic skills, and Quagsire soaked up the sun, providing a calming presence amidst the fray.

As the afternoon wore on, the sun began to dip towards the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple. Azure and his Pokémon were engaged in a particularly intense battle against a trainer with a team of Grass-type Pokémon.

Skarmory soared through the air, delivering powerful Steel Wing attacks, while Houndoom unleashed scorching Flamethrowers. It was amid this exhilarating clash that Azure's keen eyes spotted something unusual near a cluster of tall grass.

Two small figures, no bigger than his Eevee, were darting around, their movements frantic and playful. He squinted, trying to get a better look, and his heart skipped a beat as he whispered in disbelief, "Elekid and Magby?"

He couldn't believe his luck. Elekid, an Electric-type, and Magby, a Fire-type, were incredibly rare in the Johto region. They were baby Pokémon, the pre-evolved forms of Electabuzz and Magmar, respectively.

Capturing them would be a significant addition to his team and a testament to his skill as a trainer. Not only that, he also had the Evolution Items needed as he thought happily, 'I could use them for my Sinnoh Team down the line. Right… gotta get a Rhyhorn down the line too.'

The sight of these two rare Pokémon ignited a fire within him, a burning desire to add them to his growing family. He knew that capturing them wouldn't be easy.

Baby Pokémon were notoriously skittish and difficult to handle. He had to approach the situation with caution and strategy.

Azure called out to his opponent, interrupting the battle, "Hold on a second! I need to… attend to something."

The trainer, slightly bewildered, agreed to pause the match. Azure thanked him and carefully approached the cluster of tall grass, Pikachu and Eevee close at his heels.

Peeking through the foliage, he observed the two baby Pokémon more closely. Elekid, with its yellow, plug-shaped head and mischievous grin, crackled with static electricity.

Magby, with its fiery plumage and playful demeanor, spat out small puffs of smoke. They were siblings to Azure, it seems, their bond evident in their playful interactions.

Azure murmured to Pikachu and Eevee as they perked up, hearing his plan of adding those two Baby Pokémon, "Okay. Here's the plan. We need to be careful. These two are easily spooked. Pikachu, you try to distract Elekid with a quick burst of electricity. Eevee, you try to charm Magby with your cuteness. I'll use Quagsire to block their escape route."

Pikachu and Eevee nodded in understanding. Azure retrieved Quagsire's Poké Ball and released him.

*Pop*

The Water/Ground type lumbered out, his usual placid expression unchanged. Azure instructed, "Quagsire. Spread out and block the path to the north and the west. But don't scare them!"

Quagsire, ever obedient, waddled into position, his presence a surprisingly effective barrier. With a deep breath, Azure gave the signal, "Alright… It's go time!"

*Zzzz*

Pikachu unleashed a small jolt of electricity, enough to pique Elekid's curiosity without causing harm. The baby Pokémon turned its attention to Pikachu, its eyes wide with fascination.

Eevee, meanwhile, approached Magby, wagging her tail and nuzzling against its leg using Baby-Doll Eyes. Magby, initially wary, began to soften, captivated by Eevee's charm.

It was Azure's moment to strike. He carefully approached Elekid, extending his hand slowly. He said in a soft, soothing voice, "Hey there, little guy. I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to be friends."

Elekid hesitated, its eyes darting between Azure and Pikachu. But Azure's calm demeanor and the gentle spark of friendship in his eyes seemed to reassure the baby Pokémon.

*Shiii*

Not only that, Azure activated his Viridian Force, giving a comfortable sensation to the Elekid, much to the Electric Pokémon's liking. It took a tentative step forward, then another, until it was close enough for Azure to gently stroke its head.

As he did, Azure tossed a Poké Ball. It struck Elekid squarely, and the Pokémon was sucked inside. The ball wobbled once, twice, three times… then clicked shut.

*BON*

Azure held his breath, his heart pounding in his chest. He'd caught Elekid!

Turning his attention to Magby, he saw that Eevee had completely won over the fiery baby Pokémon. Magby was now playfully nudging Eevee with its head, emitting happy chirps.

Azure carefully approached Magby, mirroring his approach with Elekid. He said softly, activating his Viridian Force, "Hey there, little one. You're a strong and brave Pokémon. Would you like to join my team?"

Magby looked up at Azure, its fiery eyes filled with curiosity. It seemed to consider his offer, but when it sensed his Viridian Force, then nodded its head in agreement. To Magby, Azure gave a comfortable sensation, making it easier for it to trust him.

Azure smiled, relieved. He gently tossed a Poké Ball, and Magby was instantly pulled inside. The ball wobbled once, twice… and clicked shut, signaling its capture.

*BON*

He'd caught Magby, too! Azure let out a triumphant whoop, pumping his fist in the air. Pikachu and Eevee cheered, sharing a high-five (or rather, a high-paw).

Quagsire, oblivious to the excitement, simply continued to bask in the fading sunlight inside a pond talking to itself peacefully, "Quaggg… (Today is a good day to chill…)"

He retrieved the Poké Balls containing Elekid and Magby, examining them closely. He couldn't believe his good fortune.

He had acquired two incredibly rare and powerful Pokémon. He quickly checked their status and info using his Arc Phone.

|Name: Magby (Live Coal Pokémon)

|Type: Fire

|Level: 5

|Gender: Male

|Held Item: None

|Ability: Flame Body

|Nature: Modest

|Moves: Leer, Smog, Ember, Barrier (EM) (2 Moves left to learn)

[Magby the Live Coal Pokémon. Magby can breathe 1100 °F (600 °C) flames, and hot embers drip from its mouth. These flames can determine its health; yellow flames show that a Magby is in good health, while flames mixed with a lot of smoke are symptomatic of fatigue, and flames dripping from its nose are a sign of a cold.

Magby's volcanic habitat ensures its health. However, it can be seen living in towns. Magby is known to be rather small and timid. It emits flames when excited or surprised. It prefers to soak in the magma of volcanoes to recover from the day's fatigue.]

|Name: Elekid (Electric Pokémon)

|Type: Electric

|Level: 5

|Gender: Male

|Held Item: None

|Ability: Static

|Nature: Jolly

|Moves: Leer, Quick Attack, Thunder Shock, Barrier (EM) (2 Moves left to learn)

[Elekid the Electric Pokémon. Elekid tends to become restless and full-on rowdy when it hears a thunderstorm coming, and likes to play out in the middle of thunderstorms.

It can generate electricity by rotating its arms, but it tires easily and can only charge a small amount. Elekid cannot store the electricity it generates, so it prefers to break into the houses of humans to consume electricity from their electrical outlets. It lives in the grasslands.]

Returning to the trainer he'd interrupted, Azure apologized for the delay and resumed their battle. His renewed energy was infectious. He swiftly defeated the trainer, his mind already racing with plans for training his new acquisitions.

As darkness enveloped Route 34, Azure set up camp, building a small fire to ward off the chill. He released Elekid and Magby from their Poké Balls, eager to get to know them better for the future.

Elekid, still a bit wary, stayed close to Pikachu, observing Azure with cautious eyes. Magby, however, was immediately drawn to the warmth of the fire, nuzzling against Azure's leg and emitting contented chirps.

Azure spent the evening playing with the two baby Pokémon, learning their personalities and quirks. He discovered that Elekid was mischievous and energetic, with a penchant for playing pranks. Magby, on the other hand, was gentle and affectionate, seeking constant attention and affection.

He knew that training them would be a challenge. Baby Pokémon required patience, understanding, and a lot of food. But Azure was up to the task. He was determined to nurture their potential and help them grow into powerful Pokémon.

Once alone, he brought out his Johto Pokémon to feed them, along with greeting the new members, Elekid and Magby. Of course, Celebi came out to play with the Baby Pokémon, cheerfully playing with them as it levitated them into the air using Confusion.

As he drifted off to sleep under the starry Johto sky, surrounded by his loyal Pokémon, Azure smiled. He had started his journey in the Johto region with a strong team, but now, with the addition of Elekid and Magby, his journey had become even more exciting and fulfilling.

The road ahead might be long and arduous, but with his Pokémon by his side, he was ready to face any challenge that came his way. He knew, in his heart, that this was just the beginning of a truly remarkable adventure.

The bond between trainer and Pokémon, a force stronger than any thunderbolt or flame, would guide him to even greater heights. And he couldn't wait to see what tomorrow would bring.

He felt a surge of excitement, realizing that his team would keep on getting stronger. With hard work and patience, they'll be the best in the region. Feeling sleepy, he soon began to sleep alongside his Pokémon.
