Pokemon: Arceus' Champion

Chapter 218: To Grampa Canyon

Koga and his wife, Adaline, watched silently as four bikes departed Fuchsia city from the southern checkpoint, seemingly going to the ferry that would take them to the Seafoam islands, then Cinnabar island.

"He's quite the endearing young man." Adaline said as she watched her daughter and her new consort leave.

"Indeed." Koga grunted in reply.

"Oh dear, you're not angry at him for what happened last night. Are you?" She asked him with a sultry look in her eyes.

"Humph. We give the boy our daughter, and he also has his way with my wife. Why would I be angry with him?" Koga stated, his tone one of obvious irritation.

"Dear..." Adaline purred as she embraced her husband from behind.

"You know the risks in our line of work. Especially for those of us who practice Seduction Ninjutsu. If anything, the boy showed me a tremendous amount of restraint."

"Restraint?!" Koga demanded.

"Yes my love, restraint. After all, how many men can you think of that would not readily spend the entire night with me given the chance? How many would resist the urge to completely empty themselves inside of me? To keep going until they were com-plet-ely spent?"

"..."

Despite the fact that he wanted to, Koga could not deny his wife's claims.

Adaline was the best seductress in their entire clan, despite the fact that the only man she had ever been with was Koga himself. She could render even the most celibate and chaste of men into lust-filled beasts just by fluttering her eyes with her Charm jutsu. Not even women could fully resist her if she so wished.

So that fact that Ace had managed to walk away from her after burning off the lust she aroused within him, spoke volumes to the self control he had. Not that that made Koga feel any better.

"If only this had worked." He muttered while pulling a vial of clear liquid out of his pocket.

"!!!"

"Honey! Don't tell me you tried to poison him?!" Adaline exclaimed in shock.

"Nothing lethal. Just a laxative strong enough to keep him on the toilet for three days." Koga said as if that was any better. Before adding in a low voice, "It never even took effect though..."

"Wait, really? Did he go through training like ours?" Adaline asked curiously, as ALL members of the Kouga clan undergo training from young ages to become resistant to poisons.

"Not as far as I'm aware. However...."

Koga trailed off as he recalled the SS. Anne, where everyone had watched Ace Ketchum being blessed by the True Alpha Beedrill after freeing her from Team Rocket's control. Beedrill were primarily bug type pokemon, but they also had a potent poison typing. So it was possible that when she blessed Ace, Beedrill made him resistant to poisons.

"I wonder just how resistant he is to them now." Koga mused out loud.

Chloe, Joy, Janine and I all rode our bikes south after leaving Fuchsia city, as well as Misty, May and Dawn as they stayed behind to challenge Koga. But they planned to bike out and meet us at Grampa Canyon in a few days, and from there we'll head to the ferry.

At first the journey was a little tense, what with Janine learning that I had fucked her mother and all. But at least SHE wasn't radiating malicious intent towards me like Koga was this morning. I didn't feel like he was going to try and kill me or anything, but I DID have a bad feeling about the food he had served to me.

Thank the gods nothing happened after I ate it.

As the day wore on though, I could feel the irritation Janine had towards me beginning to fade. It wasn't until after we had stopped for lunch though that she decided to talk to me.

"So what business do you have with Brock in Grampa Canyon anyways? Digging up fossils to revive or something?" Janine asked eventually.

"Nah. I already have a LOT of fossils that I took from Team Rocket under Mt. Moon. I might have a few of them revived while we're here though since they'll probably bring the machines for it, and I'll be here for a few days anyways.

"The main reason is because of a project that Brock is helping me with regarding the capabilities of Ditto. Ivy already plans to help me research them on her own when she moves to Pallet town, but back when I first caught them I sent one to Brock to test if my theories regarding them being used to breed with other pokemon worked.

"As a Breeder, Brock was more than willing to test my theory since Ditto could, theroetically, mate with ANY pokemon to produce an egg. Back when we were on the SS. Anne I called Brock about my Cranidos evolving into Rampardos, and he told me that the Ditto I had sent him had already produced TWO eggs. One from a male partner, and the other from a female."

Contrary to the last couple hours, I now had Janine's complete attention as I told her about Ditto and the possibilities they offered us for pokemon preservation efforts.

"I thought you weren't interested in getting any new pokemon for right now Ace?" Chloe asked when I finished explaining things to Janine.

"I'm not. But it would be a waste not to revive some of the fossils I have while I have the chance."

"What kind of fossils do you have?" Janine asked this time.

"Mostly Helix and Dome fossils that are the typical ones found in Kanto, along with a few old ambers. But I also have a few Claw and Root fossils, and a couple Armor and Skull fossils. I also managed to get a single Jaw fossil from them at the time, which I already had Brock revive for me to get some extra power on my team after we got whupped by Mewtwo."

"And your Rampardos?"

"Rampardos is actually one of the pokemon that Brock bred at his sanctuary. He was given to me after I saved the sanctuary from being raided by Team Rocket. He's one of, if not THE first naturally born Cranidos in the last several million years."

"..."

"Amazing..." Janine uttered in awe from everything I had told her.

We continued on our way south as the day wore on, taking a break every hour or so as we went until we reached a fork in the road.

"This way to continue to the ferry, and that way to Grampa Canyon." I muttered, turning from the well-maintained and proper road, to the one that looked like a jagged hiking trail that continued on into a rough and rocky terrain. The only indication it was even a proper road was that numerous vehicles had traveled down it recently.

"Must be Brock and the others heading to Grampa Canyon." I said while turning my bike down the same path, regardless of the numerous signs warning of danger in that direction.

"Absol, come on out!"

"SOOOOOL!"

Absol trilled as she appeared beside me, her attention immediately going to Lucario.

"Think you can keep your guard up while we travel?"

"Sol." She answered affirmative.

According to Janine, Grampa Canyon has been the site of numerous accidents and disasters throughout the years as several expeditions explored its depths. With that being the case, then it was only smart to keep Absol with me the entire time that we're here.

We continued down the path as the sun sank towards the horizon, at a slower pace than this morning though since the terrain was quite a bit rougher.

"Rotom, show me the map that Brock sent us with our current location marked as well."

"Yes sir~!"

My phone hovered in the air in front of me while displaying a map of the area, with two points marked to show our current location and the place where Brock said they would be setting up camp.

"We're still a few hours out... But we could also make it just after dark tonight if we push ourselves... What do you three think? Set up camp for the night, or keep going until we get there?" I asked the girls while pointing out how much further we had to go.

"I say we push on. Normally traveling after dark would be dangerous, but since you have an Absol we can push on." Janine immediately stated, being the only other one who wasn't tired after biking all day.

"If we get there tonight...then we don't have to do anything tomorrow, right?" Chloe asked while trying to catch her breath.

"That's right. If we set up camp now, then we'll have to finish the journey tomorrow."

"Then lets keep going....that way I can just sleep for as long as I want tomorrow!" Chloe declared, while Joy just sighed tiredly.

With most of us in agreement, we all pushed on as the sun continued setting. The good thing was that most of our journey was downhill instead of uphill, so we only needed to let gravity do a good portion of the work.

"Not much is known about Grampa Canyon, but scientists do know that it was once an inland sea connected to the sea of Kanto. This is considered the reason why so many fossils have been found in the area during previous expeditions.

"However, no one knows WHY exactly the canyon drained, or what cut it off from the ocean, as the canyon itself is still mostly located beneath sea level. Many experts believe that the same phenomenon responsible for the numerous disasters that plagued past expeditions is to blame, but there is no conclusive evidence of this!"

As we rode further into Grampa Canyon I had Rotom read off all of the information about the canyon that could be found on the net, most of which was quite interesting. Unfortunately, most of it was just speculation due to the lack of actual information available.

"SOL!"

"!!!"

"HOLD ON!" I cried out to the girls suddenly from Absol's warning, making all of us hit our brakes so our tires skid across the ground.

*RUMBLE!*

*CRASH!*

As soon as we came to a stop, the ground began to rumble as a Rockslide came down to block our path.

"That was close...." Joy breathed out as the last few pebbles settled in front of us.

"Yeah it was. Thank you Absol."

"Sol."

"Come on out, Golem."

"GOOOOOOL!" Golem roared dramatically as he appeared, flexing his arms as he did so.

"Think you can clear up the road for us?" I asked him while pointing to the pile of rocks and dirt.

"GOL!" He declared in affirmation, before using Rollout to do just that.

"..."

"Did you feel it partner?" Lucario asked me as Golem worked.

"Barely. Part of me thought I just imagined it." I answered him.

In the split second after Absol warned us, I felt the barest hint of aura pass through the terrain before the Rockslide happened. That meant that something had intentionally triggered it while targeting us.

"Haaa... If only Ilene was here. She'd have probably pinpointed it the very second we entered the canyon." I grumbled irritably while Lucario nodded in agreement.

"Whatever it was, it's gone now." He said in agreement. No matter how much either of us looked, we couldn't find the source of the aura that tried to attack us.

"Ace?" Joy asked worriedly.

"Its nothing. As long as Absol, Lucario and I are around, there's nothing to worry about." I said to reassure her.

"Ok." Joy said, putting her faith in us that we would protect them.

Within a matter of minutes, Golem had the road cleared for us and I recalled him into his pokeball before we continued on our way. Except all of us were now more alert than we had been before.

Soon the sun had set as darkness filled the canyon, prompting me to send out Magnezone to use Flash in order to light our way. Thankfully there were no more incidents though as we spotted a glow on the horizon, which we soon found to be the basecamp of Brock and his expedition.

"Finally..." Joy uttered with equal parts exhaustion and relief as we pulled up to the campsite.

"Agreed." I said as we dismounted our bikes. Even I was sore after biking all day, and without the electric assist that Joy and Chloe had been using.

The campsite was filled with numerous tents and trailers that housed both personnel and equipment, while I could also feel a section of tents nearby that housed dozens of trainers that were here to act as diggers. If I recall correctly, Brock was promising to revive fossils that they dig up for their help, after said fossils were adequately studied of course.

What caught my interest was that several powerful pokemon were also set up to form a sort of guard around the campsite, notably rock and ground type pokemon like Golem, Graveler, Rhyhorn, Rhydon, Onix and Steelix.

"Ohhhhn." An Onix groaned in acknowledgement as we passed it, before returning it's attention to the area outside the camp.

"Sentries?" Janine said in observation.

"Probably to guard against wild pokemon and any other 'accidents'." I murmured quietly.

"Ace!" Cried out a voice, drawing our attention to it's source to find Brock hurrying towards us.

"Sup Brock. We managed to make it." I called out to him, before grasping his hand in greeting.
