Zangoose is a Normal-type Pokémon with predominantly white fur, featuring red patches on certain parts of its body, including its claws.

Known for its offensive capabilities, Zangoose has exceptionally high attack power and impressive speed, making it agile and swift in battle.

As Lian's Poké Ball hit the ground, his first glance was towards his opponent, relieved to see a Zangoose. This Pokémon had relatively low Special Defense and couldn't match his speed.

However, what caught Lian's attention was a pink belt wrapped around Zangoose's waist. If he guessed correctly, it must be a Pink Ribbon infused with Normal-type energy, enhancing the potency of Normal-type moves.

The battle commenced.

"Zangoose, use Quick Attack."

Immediately upon entering the field, Zangoose charged at Lian, synchronizing perfectly with Tanner's command—a level of coordination achieved through exceptional teamwork or rigorous training.

"Charmeleon, Flamethrower!" Kalia recognized that Zangoose relied solely on Quick Attack, seizing this opportunity swiftly. Since Quick Attack isn't particularly strong, if Charmeleon's Flamethrower could land a hit, it would undoubtedly gain an advantage.

The Zangoose swiftly sprinted forward, leaning slightly ahead with its large white tail swaying continuously. With sudden acceleration, its body shimmered in white light and shot straight towards Lian.

In mere blinks of an eye, Zangoose reached Lian, displaying remarkable speed - a direct result of Quick Attack's effect. As Lian improves his Explosive Power skill, he too will achieve such rapid bursts of speed.

Too fast, unable to dodge this time.

Previously, he managed to evade Golduck's Aqua Jet because it was paralyzed. However, this Zangoose was clearly at peak performance, utilizing Quick Attack to instantly gain incredible velocity that left Lian unable to react.

Zangoose collided directly with him. Despite being just a standard Quick Attack move, combined with Zangoose's high attack capability value, it still caused considerable pain.

Hit by Zangoose, Lian clutched his stomach but quickly regained his footing. Without hesitation, he opened his mouth, aiming squarely at the approaching Zangoose, and unleashed a Flamethrower.

Intense flames surged from deep within his throat, erupting forcefully through his mouth in a straight line towards Zangoose.

Lian's Flamethrower was highly concentrated, barely dispersing at all. It resembled someone wielding a long, straight flame spear, thrusting fiercely towards Zangoose.

This precision was the result of his diligent training over the past few days. After mastering Fire Spin, Lian began focusing on controlling flames. Although challenging, with consistent practice, he found himself increasingly adept at managing Flamethrower effectively.

Previously, his Flamethrower was quite scattered, with much energy dissipating in the air before reaching its target. However, now, it was significantly more focused.

While seemingly insignificant, this demonstrated improved control over flames. In the next phase, Lian anticipated being able to slightly adjust the trajectory of the flames as well.

He guessed that after the system update, abilities related to energy control would likely appear, since he had already ventured into this aspect. Many moves require a certain level of energy control mastery to learn effectively.

"Zangoose, endure it," Tanner commanded unexpectedly, which puzzled Kalia.

Lian also found it strange, but the move was already unleashed. At such close proximity, regardless of whether Zangoose chose to endure or not, there was no escaping the attack.

Intense flames engulfed Zangoose, creating a burst of scorching heat waves.

Within the inferno, Zangoose's fur continuously burned, yet it remained steadfast and unyielding.

Suddenly, its eyes flashed with brilliance as it charged towards Lian.

At that moment, Tanner did not issue any commands but instead smiled faintly, anticipating Zangoose's independent display.

"Something's off! Charmeleon, quickly dodge!" Kalia initially expected Tanner to give instructions, but upon observing Zangoose's behavior, she sensed something amiss.

Zangoose acted on its own initiative!

In the next instant, Zangoose lunged at Lian. Although not exceptionally fast, due to their close proximity, it swiftly reached him, aiming its sharp claws directly at Lian.

Lian couldn't determine which move Zangoose was using since Tanner hadn't given any verbal command. However, he knew instinctively that this attack would not be easy to withstand.

In a split second, Lian made his decision.

Harnessing full speed, he unleashed Explosive Power, instantly boosting his velocity to over 1,000 ability points.

However, he was still a step too slow.

Since Zangoose initiated the attack without waiting for its Trainer's command, neither Lian nor Kalia had time to react effectively.

This style of combat is challenging for most Trainers to employ successfully. Unless there is a strong mental connection between the Trainer and their Pokemon, how would the Pokemon anticipate the Trainer's next move without explicit instructions?

The exception would be specific move combinations, where the Trainer trains the Pokemon beforehand to execute two moves consecutively without needing verbal commands.

Lian took a brutal hit despite his burst of speed; he was just not fast enough. Zangoose swiftly closed the distance, and its black claws viciously struck Lian.

He was sent flying, feeling intense pain from severe injuries. As he landed hard on the ground, momentarily unable to get up, Lian felt disoriented.

This was his most harrowing battle yet, being struck twice in quick succession. The wounds were grave, nearing a point where he could barely continue fighting, incapable of enduring another third blow.

Struggling to stand, Lian realized the extent of his injuries. For the remainder of the battle, his strategy would likely focus on defense and attrition.

However, there was no need to worry as Zangoose also appeared significantly weakened, and Lian's Flamethrower remained potent.

At that moment, the flame on Lian's tail intensified, signaling a surge in his fire power - unmistakably entering Blaze Mode.

Simultaneously, Lian had a hunch about the move used earlier. Based on the Black Belt equipped by Zangoose, it clearly indicated a Fighting-type move. Among the Fighting-type moves Zangoose could learn, only one possessed such immense power: Comeuppance.

Comeuppance, when unleashed after sustaining an attack, amplifies its strength through vengeance, filling the Pokemon with fury and enhancing the move's potency.

Both sides were now considerably depleted, but the situation favored Tanner unfavorably. Lian remained Kalia's primary combatant, while Tanner still had another unknown Pokemon at his disposal.

One more mistake, and I'm done for.

Lian felt the severity of his injuries; a Quick Attack followed by a doubled-power Comeuppance had left him nearly at critical health. Even a slight impact could render him immobile.

However, Zangoose, having taken a direct hit from Flamethrower, suffered significant damage as well. Lian remained confident in this aspect.

Despite his severe injuries, there was still hope. He mustn't forget that he was currently in Blaze Mode.

"Not defeated yet? Intriguing." Tanner was somewhat surprised to see Charmeleon holding on, as this Comeuppance move should have been enough to defeat most Pokemon under normal circumstances.

"Zangoose, return."

Contrary to expectation, Tanner recalled Zangoose instead of ordering another attack.

Kalia found this puzzling; with Charmeleon barely able to stand, why would Tanner waste an opportunity by recalling Zangoose?

However, she couldn't let such a chance slip away and promptly commanded, "Charmeleon, use Smokescreen!"

"You're not switching your Pokémon?" Tanner seemed taken aback, expecting Kalia to substitute her Pokémon due to Charmeleon's weakened state. Normally, trainers would replace their Pokémon in such a situation, allowing a fresh one to enter the battle.

Clearly, Tanner had misjudged Kalia's intentions, as she had no plans to switch out Charmeleon.

"If you're not switching, then it's over for you," Tanner calmly stated before tossing another Poké Ball onto the field.

Pop.

The Poké Ball automatically opened, releasing a pink, round Pokémon onto the battlefield.
