This Zangoose encounter was just a small episode in the journey to Viridian Forest. After defeating it, Bruce and Combusken moved forward.

"Nature is certainly a good place to battle monsters and improve," Bruce sighed.

Compared to the Battle Club, there are countless Pokemon in the wild, and no one knows which Pokemon will emerge from the grass in the next second.

But everything has its advantages and disadvantages. Unlike the Battle Club, where the strength of the Pokemon can be specified, the power of wild Pokemon varies from high to low.

Secondly, battling in clubs can refine a Trainer's command skills, which is also crucial.

But, overall, leveling up in the field is still much more efficient than in the club.

As the journey continued, Bruce encountered several Pokemon, including a normal-level Marill and a senior-level Gloom.

Combusken defeated them one by one, gaining considerable experience points.

Time passed gradually, the sun drifted westward, and it was already late.

Walking through the forest, Bruce suddenly heard a "splashing" sound in his ears.

Looking up, he saw a large river several meters wide.

"This should be the Green River."

Bruce quickly moved forward, and after a while, reached the banks of the fast-flowing Green River.

On the opposite side of the Green River, there was also a vast forest, stretching beyond the eye's reach.

"Let's rest here for a bit," Bruce said.

"Char!"

Combusken nodded slightly, then opened its eyes wide and turned to the right.

Bruce glanced over and saw an Emolga cautiously walking toward the forest near the riverbank, not too far away.

Upon noticing Bruce and Combusken looking at it, Emolga's expression froze, and it became extremely stiff. It stood there stunned, its body trembling slightly.

"Char!"

Combusken eyed Emolga cautiously, eyes alert, and waved its sharp claws.

"Uh..."

Seeing Combusken staring at it so intently, Emolga shivered slightly, then bit its lip, its eyes reddened, and it cried out, tears streaming down its face.

"This little one..."

It was Bruce's first time encountering a situation like this, and he was a bit baffled.

Similarly, Combusken also seemed confused—it was the first Pokémon it had seen cry upon a disagreement. Tilting its head, Combusken looked a bit helpless.

"Let's go comfort this little one."

As he spoke, Bruce walked slowly toward the sobbing Emolga.

Without realizing how hard it was crying, Emolga didn't notice Bruce approaching.

Only when Bruce and Combusken appeared in front of it did it abruptly stop crying, eyes wide open, its face full of fear.

"It's alright, we won't hurt you."

Bruce smiled helplessly, squatting down, took an energy cube from his pocket, handed it to Emolga, and smiled gently. "Here, this is our peace offering."

Emolga, seemingly puzzled by the situation, stared blankly at the energy cube in Bruce's hand, not responding for a moment.

But the next second, its nose twitched, catching the aroma of the energy cube, and its eyes suddenly sparkled.

"Uhh..."

Emolga let out a soft sound and, seeing that Bruce and Combusken weren't reacting, reached out with a trembling hand, grabbed the energy cube, and pulled it back in the next instant.

"Uhh!"

Maybe it was afraid Bruce would change his mind, but Emolga swallowed the energy cube in one gulp, the delicious taste blossoming on its taste buds, filling its whole mouth.

"Ahhh!"

Emolga couldn't help but squint its round eyes in joy, its face full of happiness, and it wagged its black tail behind it.

"Still a little snack-lover," Bruce chuckled, pulling out two more energy cubes from his pocket and handing them to Emolga.

This time, Emolga took the energy cubes without hesitation and took another big gulp.

"Ahhh!"

Emolga seemed delighted, waving its hands, as if singing an unknown tune.

Bruce couldn't help but laugh, then took out two more energy cubes, handed them to Emolga, and said, "These are the last two."

Emolga had just received the energy cubes and was about to eat them, but when it heard Bruce's words, it stopped abruptly, clutching the cubes tightly in its hands.

"Alright, off you go now. Don't let other Pokemon snatch your treats," Bruce said as he stood up, waved to Emolga, and turned to leave.

"Uhh..."

Emolga watched as Bruce and Combusken walked away, hugging the energy cubes tightly in its arms.

"Pokemon are incredible," Bruce murmured softly.

"Char," Combusken nodded thoughtfully.

"Looks like we'll have to be more careful next time and avoid scaring these little innocents," Bruce smiled.

"Char..." Combusken understood.

But Bruce hadn't gone far when suddenly a cry sounded behind him.

"Ahhh!"

"Uhh!"

Bruce and Combusken exchanged glances, turned around, and hurried back toward the spot from before.

At the same time,

Not far away.

"Squirtle, the final blow—Water Gun!" Oliver said calmly.

"Squirtle! Squirtle!"

Squirtle puffed up its cheeks and spat out a lightning-fast jet of water from its mouth, hitting Vulpix in an instant!

Vulpix was an orange fox with six curled tails, but at this moment, its soft, reddish-brown fur was soaked and wet from the water.

"Oh!"

Vulpix cried out and collapsed to the ground, its eyes turning to swirls.

"Go, Poké Ball." Seeing this, Oliver beamed with joy and immediately threw a Poké Ball.

The Poké Ball hit Vulpix and emitted a red light, enveloping and capturing it.

Ding...ding...ding!

Once the Poké Ball stopped shaking, Oliver finally let out a long sigh of relief.

Unable to contain his excitement, he ran to pick up the Poké Ball and shouted, "I caught Vulpix!"

Seeing this, Thomas smiled and clapped, "Congratulations! This Vulpix has good qualifications and could be trained as a main Pokemon."

"Yes." Oliver wore a bright smile on his face, clutching the Poké Ball tightly.

Thomas smiled and said, "This is the first time you've caught a Pokemon through battle. It's nerve-wracking, exciting, anxious, and joyful."

"Let's head along the Green River and aim to evolve Squirtle in the next two days."

"Alright!" Oliver nodded eagerly.
