Pokémon Breeder In One Piece!

Chapter 343: Chapter 343

A swirling, multicolored black vortex suddenly appeared in mid-air.

Ordinarily, even the Origin Forms of Dialga and Palkia lacked the ability to open the River of Worlds. Without the assistance of the system, such a feat would be impossible.

[World Anchor]

At that moment, Dak activated a system tool he had purchased.

Without the World Anchor, the other side of the space-time wormhole could lead to an entirely unknown world, ramping up the danger to its peak. But with the tool, Dak could choose one of five randomly presented worlds to link to, ensuring greater safety.

Even linking to a desolate wasteland world with few inhabitants was better than connecting to a world where overwhelming power levels were the norm.

Upon activation, five glowing screens appeared before Dak:

[Dragon Ball Z]

Just the name was enough for Dak to skip this option entirely. He didn't even bother analyzing the era depicted—Dragon Ball was a hard no.

[Bleach]

"Hmm..."

Dak grimaced at this selection.

While Bleach was part of the same era as Naruto and One Piece, it paled in comparison in terms of early and sustained success. Its narrative only truly found its stride during the Soul Society arc, but by then, it had already lost a significant portion of its fanbase.

Moreover, the composition of Bleach's factions and the complexities of its world made achieving peace an insurmountable challenge, far harder than in the pirate or shinobi worlds.

Possible, but ideally avoidable.

[Tokyo Ghoul]

Another instant pass.

This world wasn't a problem in terms of power levels; Pokémon alone could handle it without the need for legendary interventions. The real issue was the irreconcilable conflict between humans and ghouls.

Bringing peace would necessitate the total extinction of ghouls—a hollow victory, as human-on-human conflicts would persist regardless.

Furthermore, the Tokyo Ghoul world mirrored Earth's template. Its inhabitants were unsuitable for large-scale migration to Pokémon Island, as they would likely disrupt its harmony.

[Sword Art Online (Virtual World - SAO)]

"Virtual world?"

Dak narrowed his eyes at the title.

If it were just Sword Art Online, Dak wouldn't have considered it due to its Earth-like setting. The influx of Earth's governments and their meddling would be inevitable.

However, the "Virtual World - SAO" suffix changed everything.

This indicated that the connection would be limited to the floating castle of Aincrad within the virtual game, entirely separate from the real world.

While the population was small—around 10,000 players—it wasn't a dealbreaker. Additionally, these players were merely data within the game and couldn't physically migrate to Pokémon Island.

Still, Dak saw potential.

With current Pokémon Island technology and if Akihiko Kayaba, the genius behind NerveGear, could be recruited into the Pokémon Alliance, Aincrad could be transformed into a customizable virtual world tailored to the Alliance's needs.

"It has promise. A potential candidate," Dak muttered.

Aincrad could even serve as a unique training ground for Trainers, akin to a dungeon-like simulation.

[Reborn!]

A solid anime, though not widely popular.

In terms of combat strength, it was only slightly stronger than Sword Art Online's human world and far weaker than Tokyo Ghoul.

But again, being an Earth-like world disqualified it from further consideration.

"Alright, Sword Art Online it is."

After a final glance at the five options, Dak made his decision. With this addition, Pokémon Island now had a diverse range of connected worlds: large, medium, and small in scale.

[Linking: Sword Art Online (Virtual World - SAO)]

Earth, May 1, 2022

The release of NerveGear the previous year had ushered the world into the virtual reality era.

Developed by Akihiko Kayaba, NerveGear was the first fully immersive VR headset, allowing players to dive into virtual worlds.

Sword Art Online (SAO), the first VRMMORPG to utilize this technology, was developed by ARGUS, a company dedicated to player-centric gaming. The game had already garnered significant hype, though today marked only the first day of its closed beta.

On a secluded island in Japan, Kayaba donned his NerveGear with a calm demeanor.

He gently tapped the back of his head. "A stronger electromagnetic pulse emitted upon forced removal or in-game death… capable of burning through neural pathways. True death, in essence."

Smirking slightly, he lay down and activated the headset.

Moments later, he found himself in the central plaza of Aincrad's first floor. His avatar, Heathcliff, donned red armor and carried a cross-shaped shield.

Players nearby, noticing his high-end gear, whispered among themselves.

"Wow, look at that guy's equipment!"

"He must be a beta tester."

"No way a normal player could get that stuff on day one!"

Ignoring the chatter, Heathcliff surveyed the plaza. His gaze briefly lingered on a corner before he moved on to higher floors, checking for surprises to include in the official launch.

In the corner of the plaza where Heathcliff had looked:

[ID: Dak]

[HP: 100/100]

[MP: 100/100]

[Level: 1]

[Role: Town NPC]

"Well, this is unexpected. I'm an NPC," Dak remarked, amused by the revelation.

"In my original world, I never got to experience VR gaming. But here I am, living it in another dimension."

"Dialga, Palkia, you two can head back. I won't be returning for a few days."

Two streams of data briefly materialized before vanishing. Darkrai, however, remained hidden in Dak's shadow, quietly creating its own domain within the virtual realm.

For Dak and Darkrai, Aincrad was as real as any other world. Here, they were just another part of its NPC population.
