Chapter 358: Chapter 358

[Next Week Event For: Warhammer: Starting as a Planetary Governor!!] [200 PS = +1 Extra Chapter!!]

"Look at this location."

Dak pointed to a forested area on the map and began explaining, "When I was out looking for herbs, I encountered a Pokémon called Glameow in a hollow tree in this forest."

"She helped me find a herb I had been searching for, and I was very grateful. I tried to give her some food, but she ran away quickly."

"I hope you can find her and deliver this to her."

With that, Dak handed Silica an item: [Celebration Muffin].

A dialogue box popped up before Silica:

[Accept the Quest "The Glameow in the Forest"?]

Quest: The Glameow in the Forest

Objective: Help Arceus deliver a [Celebration Muffin] to the Pokémon Glameow in the forest.

Rewards: 300 XP, 300 currency, and "Glameow's Friendship" (chance-based)

Quest Giver: Arceus

[Accept]

"Alright, leave it to me!"

Silica quickly accepted the quest. It didn't seem too difficult—just head into the forest and deliver the item to Glameow.

Although the forest would likely have aggressive red-named monsters, she figured she could handle it with caution.

The rewards were enticing—300 XP and 300 currency were enough for her to level up.

The real appeal, however, was "Glameow's Friendship."

From the description, it was clear she had a chance to gain a Pokémon companion through this quest, though it wasn't guaranteed. Silica assumed the outcome depended on factors like how well she completed the quest.

[Celebration Muffin: A secret specialty of Celebration Village, loved by Pokémon. It can cure all status conditions of a Pokémon.]

"Celebration Village? Is that a hidden location? Is this NPC from that village?"

Silica silently pondered.

"Then, I'll leave it to you," Dak said with a smile, waving her off.

Once the quest was issued, Dak planned to relocate to another town, so Silica wouldn't find him when she returned.

Unaware of this, Silica stepped out of the shop, determined to complete the task and return before other players discovered this hidden NPC.

Half an hour later, Silica carefully navigated the forest, clutching her short sword tightly. She paused every few steps, scanning her surroundings.

In this game, death meant actual death.

"Glameow~"

Silica whispered the Pokémon's name softly as she ventured deeper into the forest.

One of the most unsettling features of SAO was how even monsters had hearing systems, making noise a potential hazard.

Thankfully, they lacked a sense of smell, or the game would be nearly impossible to survive.

"Hiss~"

Suddenly, a strange noise came from behind her.

Silica froze, turning to see a purple snake staring directly at her.

Its name hovered in red—it was a hostile monster.

"..."

Silica had mentally prepared herself to face beasts like leopards, tigers, or bears. But snakes? Long, slithering creatures with no fur?

Nope.

Without hesitation, she turned and bolted.

Even in her panic, Silica avoided screaming or running aimlessly, knowing such actions would hasten her demise.

She knew there were no other players nearby to call for help in this remote forest.

Thud!

Just as Silica felt tears welling up, a crisp sound rang out behind her.

She turned to see a pink, adorable creature swatting the snake into the bushes with its tail, spitting disdainfully afterward.

Glameow—a green-named Pokémon.

"Ah! Found you!"

Silica's face lit up with joy as she recognized the Pokémon's name and ran toward it.

"?"

Glameow, however, bared its teeth at Silica, clearly not wanting her to approach.

It hadn't saved Silica out of kindness—it was simply angry at the snake, which had earlier taken a bite out of its tail.

Silica stopped in her tracks, contemplating her next move.

She reached into her inventory and retrieved the [Celebration Muffin], releasing a sweet aroma into the air.

Glameow's eyes sparkled as it sniffed the muffin, its tail wagging happily. It darted forward, grabbed the muffin in its mouth, and scurried off.

"Eh?"

Silica blinked, unsure whether to follow.

The quest hadn't marked as completed yet, and she didn't want her efforts to go to waste.

As she deliberated, Glameow suddenly stopped and looked back at her, as if inviting her to follow.

"Do you want me to come with you?" Silica asked instinctively, then realized she was speaking to an NPC.

To her surprise, Glameow acted as though it understood, motioning for her to follow.

Though uneasy, Silica trailed behind, wary of potential dangers.

Within ten minutes, Glameow led Silica out of the forest, away from the red-named monsters.

"Meow~"

Outside the forest, Glameow rubbed against Silica's leg before settling down to enjoy its muffin.

Watching the Pokémon eat reminded Silica of her own cat, Pina. She knelt, reaching out to pet Glameow's head, when rustling sounds from the forest made her freeze.

Turning toward the noise, she saw a horde of red-named monsters swarming nearby.

Cold sweat dripped down her back as she realized how close she had been to danger.

"Why... could it be...?"

Following the monsters' gaze, Silica noticed they were focused on the muffin Glameow was eating.

She recalled how the muffin had released a strong aroma when she took it out. While monsters lacked a sense of smell, the item's effect seemed to draw their attention regardless.

Glameow must have sensed the danger earlier and led Silica to safety.

"Meow~"

Having finished the muffin, Glameow curled up at Silica's feet.

"Do you want more? Sorry, I'm all out," Silica said, smiling softly.

"Meow~"

[Glameow wants to become your partner. Would you like to use the "Diamond Contract"?]

"Yes!"

Momentarily stunned, Silica quickly agreed.

A Poké Ball emerged from her inventory and lightly tapped Glameow's head. The Pokémon let out a small cry before being enveloped in red light and absorbed into the ball.

[Quest "The Glameow in the Forest" Completed]

Rewards: 300 XP, 300 currency, "Glameow's Friendship"

A golden glow surrounded Silica as she leveled up.

[Congratulations! You have unlocked the subclass "Trainer." You are the first player in the game to become a Trainer. Please choose from the following options:]

"Um... I'll pick 3."

Although tempted by fame, Silica chose to stay discreet.

She didn't trust other players, especially in these early chaotic stages of the game.

Kirito, in the original story, had done the same—keeping his "Dual Blades" skill hidden to avoid envy and hostility from others.

[As the first Trainer, you have received the following rewards:]

Sticky Cake: A fruit blend cake that increases a Pokémon's speed stat by 5 points. ×1

Quick Claw: A lightweight claw that occasionally lets the user strike first. ×1

Super Potion: A spray medicine that restores 50% of a Pokémon's HP. ×1

"Meow~"

While inspecting her rewards, Glameow reappeared at her feet, curling up once more.

Silica checked her Pokémon's stats:
