Pokémon Breeder's Story

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Meteor Falls

Chapter 23: Meteor Falls

The next morning, after a good night's rest, Shu and Sato stood in front of the breeding center and waved goodbye to Kenji.

"Thank you very much for your hospitality last night, goodbye owner!"

Kenji smiled and nodded, saying, "I wish you a safe journey!"

After the guests left, the breeding center became quiet. Bewear went up to the guest room on the second floor to start cleaning. Kenji, meanwhile, took down the "OPEN" sign from the front door.

The Taillow came again today to freeload, but Kenji discovered something. After a few times, the food currently available at the breeding center could no longer satisfy it. The food here was only enough to fill its stomach, but it could no longer make it feel happy and joyful. Since its Joy Value wasn't increasing, Kenji couldn't get any more information about Latias and Latios.

"It seems that researching new Pokémon food needs to be put on the agenda," Kenji murmured.

But before that, he had one more thing to do. The information the Taillow had provided about the "Clefairy" had piqued his interest. Furthermore, when he had hosted the guest named Shu last night, he had also obtained the specific location of the Clefairy mass outbreak. So, Kenji decided to take half a day off today and go to Meteor Falls with Bewear and Growlithe to look for the Clefairy.

As for the other location, the Axew habitat... according to the information, Axew were Pokémon that lived in colonies, protected by powerful Haxorus. Unless an Axew agreed to leave on its own, it wasn't something he could even dream of approaching.

Bewear hadn't finished cleaning yet, so Kenji took the opportunity to check on the Swampert and Quagsire in the backyard. Then, he went to the herb garden to check on Oddish's progress. However, Oddish's power was currently limited. It couldn't make plants grow quickly like more powerful Grass-type Pokémon could, and the seeds in the field hadn't changed much. This made Oddish feel a bit discouraged, wondering if it was really being helpful to Kenji.

However, Kenji didn't scold Oddish. He just stroked its small head and comforted it, "Don't worry, take it slow!"

"Oddi!" Oddish felt comforted and quickly cheered up again.

Kenji smiled, then turned and led his little shadow, Growlithe, back to the lobby. A neat and tidy Bewear was already waiting there for him.

"Let's go, time to set off!" Kenji said.

"Kyuu!" Bewear responded.

The boy and his two Pokémon locked the breeding center's door and officially set off on the road to Meteor Falls.

The breeding center was located between Meteor Falls and Fallarbor Town. Following the main road east would lead to Fallarbor Town. If one headed west, they would see Meteor Falls.

Legend has it that Meteor Falls was originally a large mountain with a magnificent waterfall cascading from its peak. But one day, a huge meteorite fell from the sky, smashing into the mountain, hollowing it out and forming a massive cave. The waterfall was diverted to the inside.

The arrival of the meteor brought a very unique Pokémon ecosystem to the area. Solrock and Lunatone, which were difficult to encounter elsewhere, were very common Pokémon in Meteor Falls.

At eight in the morning, Kenji and his Pokémon arrived at Meteor Falls. At the end of the road was a dark cave entrance. Next to the cave stood a man-made warning sign. It read: "Dangerous Pokémon inside. Unauthorized personnel are prohibited from entering."

"We don't count as 'unauthorized personnel', do we?" Standing in front of the cave, Kenji hesitated slightly.

"Bewear, how strong are you?" he asked.

Bewear didn't answer. It just scooped up Kenji and Growlithe under its arms and plunged headfirst into Meteor Falls.

Kenji: "..."

Alright, he understood Bewear's answer. In that case, they would just press forward. If they encountered a dangerous Pokémon they really couldn't beat, they could just run away.

Unexpectedly, the cave was not as dark as Kenji had imagined. Because the mountaintop had been pierced by the meteorite, a beam of light poured down from the ceiling every so often, illuminating the interior environment. From a distance, Kenji saw several Solrock and Lunatone floating silently in mid-air. It seemed this was the habitat of these two Pokémon.

"Bewear, let's try to avoid them." These two Pokémon were masters of Explosion. If one of them got upset and decided to use a move with 250 base power on the spot, they'd be toast. Besides, their main purpose for coming to Meteor Falls was to find Clefairy.

Bewear glanced at the Pokémon that looked like the sun and the moon but said nothing.

Meteor Falls had many levels—ground level, underground, and above ground. The internal structure was very complex, and it was very easy to get lost. But thankfully, Kenji had specific information on the Clefairy's habitat.

Avoiding the Solrock and Lunatone, they followed the man-made stairs upwards, passed through a territory gathered by Geodude and Golem, and soon arrived at the location where Clefairy were said to have been found.

After searching around for a bit, Kenji indeed found a familiar figure in a crater. It was a pink-furred Pokémon that looked like a star—fluffy, chubby, and soft. It had a very cute appearance and a large, curled tail.

A Clefairy, there it was!

The Clefairy had its head down, looking left and right, seemingly searching for something.

"Huh? Is there only one Clefairy here?" Wasn't a spaceship supposed to have crashed here with a whole bunch of them?

With a slight thought, the Clefairy's data appeared in Kenji's mind.

[Pokémon: Clefairy]

[Description: If we don't fix the spaceship soon, we'll be stuck in this place forever! —Clefairy]

Kenji: "???"

Repair the spaceship? You're kidding, right? He wasn't surprised that Pokémon like Solrock and Lunatone arrived on this planet with meteorites from space. But these Clefairy... they really arrived on this planet in a spaceship?

Kenji was astonished.

Just then, the Clefairy suddenly ducked into a narrow tunnel and disappeared from sight. Kenji was taken aback and quickly ran over to check. The tunnel was dark, and he didn't know if it had been dug by an Onix or a Geodude, nor did he know where it led. But since the Clefairy dared to go in without hesitation, it probably meant there weren't any overly dangerous Pokémon in the passage.
