Pokemon: Champion's Path

Chapter 15: 15. The Power of Terastallization

---

"Swampert, Terastallize!"

As Eric shouted the command, he gripped the Tera Orb tightly in his hand. The once pitch-black orb suddenly radiated a brilliant blue light the mysterious glow of Tera Energy.

The Tera Orb, now overflowing with power, arced through the air as Eric tossed it toward Swampert. The throw was smooth and precise, forming a perfect curve toward Swampert's head.

Swampert's eyes locked onto the Tera Orb as if responding instinctively. In an instant, the orb exploded with dazzling light, like a precious jewel shattering to reveal its brilliance.

The radiant energy cascaded down, encasing Swampert's body in a crystalline cocoon. Moments later, the sharp sound of glass breaking echoed through the air, and the crystal shell shattered, revealing Swampert's transformed form.

Emerging from the glittering fragments, Swampert's body sparkled as if coated in polished gemstones, radiating an almost ethereal glow. Atop its head sat a magnificent crystal crown, and above the crown floated an intricate, Earth-like sphere.

The sphere depicted various geological layers: oceans, plains, mountains, and the Earth's inner and outer cores. It was a mesmerizing display of Tera Energy.

Eric's eyes widened as he muttered, "Tera Type… Ground."

Arven, on the other hand, could hardly contain his excitement. Hugging Mabosstiff tightly, he practically bounced in place, his face flushed with awe.

"This is incredible! Terastallization is so cool, so powerful, so awesome!!" he exclaimed.

Eric raised an eyebrow at Arven's overenthusiastic reaction. Was it really that surprising? Compared to the dramatic visuals of Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, or Gigantamaxing, Terastallization had a somewhat simpler aesthetic.

But as one of the four major mechanics of the Pokémon world, its sheer potential was undeniable.

Eric beckoned to Swampert, who had been testing the unfamiliar energy coursing through its body. Without hesitation, Swampert lumbered over to him, each step slow and deliberate, as though adjusting to the transformation.

Eric leaned forward and gently tapped the crystal crown on Swampert's head. "It's solid," he noted, his tone curious. "I wonder how durable this thing is…"

"Swarr.."

Swampert groaned in mild annoyance, its expression clearly displeased with the newfound accessory.

Though it wasn't heavy, the crown altered its sense of balance, making its movements feel slightly off. For a high-level battler like Swampert, even the smallest change could throw off precision during a fight.

Eric noticed its discomfort and chuckled. "Don't worry. You'll get used to it. This crown isn't just for show it enhances your power."

Swampert huffed, tentatively touching the crown with its massive hands. While it still felt awkward, the promise of increased strength was enough to quiet its complaints.

Watching Swampert's reaction, Eric briefly considered the strategic uses of Terastallization in battles.

But then he shook his head. He had retired from competitive battling there was no point in dwelling on battle strategies.

Pushing those thoughts aside, he turned to Arven. "Come with me. I'll show you something even more impressive."

"Okay!" Arven replied enthusiastically, following close behind with Mabosstiff in tow.

They soon arrived at the farming zone a vast expanse of overgrown weeds and scattered rocks.

Arven blinked in disbelief. "This is your… farm?" he asked hesitantly.

Though young, Arven had read enough to recognize the state of the land. Calling it a "farm" was generous; the area looked more like a barren wasteland, unsuitable for growing anything.

Transforming this land into fertile soil would require significant time, effort, and resources. Could Pokémon really handle such a daunting task?

His gaze shifted to the Terastallized Swampert, and realization dawned.

Eric and Swampert exchanged a wordless look. Without needing further instruction, Swampert planted its feet firmly and began gathering energy for a Ground-type move.

The energy buildup felt… different. Swampert's eyes widened slightly as it sensed the power inside it was glowing with the same crystalline light as its Tera Crown. When the move was unleashed, Eric and Arven watched, stunned.

Swampert stomped hard on the ground, and the earth rippled like a wave. Layer upon layer of soil surged forward in shimmering yellow crystal-infused waves, tearing through the land.

It was an Earthquake.

The devastating waves churned through everything in their path. Rocks were pulverized into dust, weeds were torn out by the roots, and the once-solid ground was transformed into soft, fertile soil.

Thanks to Serperior's earlier efforts to drive wild Pokémon out of the area, no harm came to any living creatures during the move's use.

Swampert stared down at its feet, bewildered. It touched the Tera Crown again and then glanced at the transformed land.

The move had required only minimal energy yet its effect was overwhelming. The power of Terastallization had amplified even a simple Ground-type move to near-cataclysmic levels.

At that moment, Swampert truly understood the potential of Terastallization. This was more than just an enhancement it was a game-changer.

If it had possessed this power during its earlier battles, the outcomes might have been very different.

Arven stood frozen in place, clutching Mabosstiff as his voice trembled with excitement. "This… this is Champion-level power, isn't it? It's so… strong."

Eric snapped out of his awe and nodded. He had known Terastallization was powerful, but seeing it firsthand was an entirely different experience. The sheer boost it provided was staggering.

It was no wonder this mechanic stood alongside Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, and Gigantamaxing as one of the four core systems of Pokémon battles.

Once Swampert became accustomed to using Terastallization, it would undoubtedly dominate battles, especially with its type advantage over Luxray.

Over the next hour, Eric and Swampert worked together to clear the remaining farming and ranching zones.

By the time they were finished, the barren land had been completely transformed. Rocks had been reduced to dust, and weeds had been uprooted, leaving behind fresh, loose soil.

As the work wrapped up, Swampert deactivated its Terastallization, and its form returned to normal. It stood quietly, savouring the memory of its enhanced strength.

Its gaze lingered on the now-dimmed Tera Orb in Eric's hand, filled with curiosity and a hint of longing.

Noticing Swampert's gaze, Eric glanced at the dull Tera Orb in his hand and let out a sigh, "I guess the Tera Orb needs to recharge after each use. What a pain..."
