Pokémon: Check-In System

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: The Six Powers of the Navy

A new item appeared in Nero's inventory—a slightly yellowed book with a worn cover.

Curious, Nero tapped on the book and dragged it out of his inventory.

In the next second, a faint spatial ripple flickered in his hand, and the weathered book materialized before him.

"The Six Powers of the Navy?"

The title was inscribed boldly on the cover.

Nero was momentarily stunned but quickly realized what he was looking at.

He was no stranger to the Six Powers, having followed the anime from his past life.

The Six Powers, originating from One Piece, were a form of martial arts surpassing the limits of human physical abilities. The techniques were formidable, and those who mastered all six were hailed as "superhumans."

This combat style was highly adaptable, covering offense, defense, speed, evasion, and even ranged attacks.

Those who mastered all six techniques could even challenge Devil Fruit users on equal footing.

The most iconic users were the members of the CP9...

However, mastering the Six Powers required grueling training and exceptional physical fitness.

Talent also played a role—some spent years struggling with the techniques, while a rare few grasped them after a single demonstration.

Opening the book, Nero found the table of contents:

The Six Powers: Shave!

Flipping through the pages, he soon discovered something disappointing—the latter half of the book was missing, leaving only the Shave technique intact.

"Ah… only one technique?"

Nero scratched his head in frustration. He had expected a complete guide to the Six Powers but only received a fragment...

Still, this martial art was remarkable. It combined offense and defense seamlessly, making it perfect for Fighting-type Pokémon.

And what better Pokémon to learn it than his Combusken, a Fire/Fighting-type?

"But how do I even use this?"

Nero attempted to spread the book open for Combusken to study, but the Pokémon merely scratched its head in confusion, struggling to understand the text.

Just as Nero was about to give up, a mechanical voice suddenly echoed.

Ding!

[The system has detected a suitable Pokémon for this technique. Analyzing related Pokémon data now.]

A blue holographic screen popped up, displaying streams of data.

Moments later, a 3D model of Combusken appeared alongside the Shave technique's description.

Ding!

[Data recording complete!]

[Pokémon: Combusken has learned the basic move Quick Attack. However, due to incomplete mastery, it cannot yet evolve this move into Shave.]

"[Quick Attack]? Mastery? Evolution?"

Three question marks practically appeared above Nero's head.

But he was quick to analyze the information.

Every move had progression stages.

For instance, if a Charmander wanted to learn Flamethrower, it first needed to master the basic move Ember.

Through rigorous training, improving precision and power, Ember would eventually evolve into Flamethrower.

After mastering Flamethrower, a capable Pokémon could even train further to learn Fire Blast or Blast Burn.

The same logic applied to Water-type moves—Water Gun was a stepping stone to Hydro Pump.

A Pokémon needed to fully master the basics before advancing.

Likewise, the Shave technique was a speed-based maneuver, allowing the user to propel themselves at blinding speeds (0.36 seconds), creating the illusion of vanishing from sight.

Effectively, it was a Flash Step.

According to records, those who mastered Shave could sprint 100 meters in just over four seconds.

Quick Attack, however, was merely a temporary speed boost. It lacked the instantaneous burst required for Flash Step.

By this logic, Quick Attack served as the foundation for learning Shave.

To master Shave, Combusken first had to perfect Quick Attack.

Testing his theory, Nero opened the help function and entered his thoughts.

The system's response confirmed his hypothesis!

A triumphant grin spread across Nero's face as he turned to Combusken.

"We're going to get stronger!"

Hearing this, Combusken's brown eyes lit up with excitement.

Most Fire-type Pokémon were naturally aggressive, full of passion, and always eager for battle.

They despised losing, using every defeat as fuel to train harder and push their limits.

Once they discovered a way to become stronger, they pursued it without hesitation.

Nero's promise filled Combusken with determination.

However, Nero knew that challenges lay ahead.

The most immediate one? The upcoming school team selection tournament.

With only a short winter break remaining, Combusken had to grow stronger fast to overcome the fierce competition.

The problem?

His opponents had access to superior resources: Pokéblocks, Nutritional supplements, Technical Machines...

Everything Nero had, they had as well—and more.

If he relied solely on daily and weekly rewards from the system, he'd fall behind.

But this monthly reward gave him a fighting chance!

The Six Powers were exclusive—unobtainable anywhere else in this world.

With this manual, Nero could train Combusken to achieve mastery.

Once Quick Attack was fully mastered, Shave would be within reach.

And Shave's potential was limitless.

By integrating Combusken's natural skills with Shave's explosive speed—and adding its Speed Boost Ability—

Combusken would become unstoppable.

Even if others had superior resources, Nero believed in one thing:

He could still defeat them all.
