Heath stared at the wing slapping into his hand, momentarily stunned. Despite sharing three years of camaraderie with Farfetch'd, he never expected the Pokémon to truly agree.

A wave of joy surged through him. Heath told Farfetch'd to wait and dashed to the local Poké Mart to purchase a standard Poké Ball.

It cost 100 League coins—every last bit of Heath's savings. But it was worth it.

When Heath returned to his food cart, he found Farfetch'd curiously poking at the batter on the counter with its wings.

"Want to learn how to cook?" Heath teased, watching the startled Farfetch'd flinch at his sudden voice, nearly upending the batter onto Heath's head.

"Farfetch'd! Farfetch'd!" it squawked, flapping its wings indignantly, as if complaining about Heath's sneak attack.

Smiling, Heath held out the Poké Ball.

"Do you really want to be my partner, Farfetch'd?" Heath asked softly.

"Farfetch'd! Farfetch'd!" Farfetch'd puffed out its chest confidently and smacked the Poké Ball with a wing.

The Poké Ball emitted a flash of light, enveloping Farfetch'd and pulling it inside. It landed on the ground, still and silent.

"A critical capture!" Heath exclaimed in delight. It seemed their bond over the past three years hadn't been for nothing—after all, he'd been feeding Farfetch'd all this time.

[Congratulations! You've obtained your first Pokémon. Reward: One Silver Bottle Cap.]

A peculiar message box popped up in front of Heath, leaving him stunned. He waved his hand in front of it, but the box remained clear and hovered there before slowly fading.

Heath felt something new in his pocket. Pulling it out, he found an intricately designed silver bottle cap that gleamed beautifully.

"This is…" Heath's breathing quickened.

The Silver Bottle Cap was a rare item introduced in later Pokémon generations. Its purpose was simple: it could max out one individual stat of a Level 100 Pokémon.

This unexpected reward overwhelmed Heath with joy. He finally understood what was happening—he had gained a cheat-like power typical of reincarnated protagonists!

Picking up the Poké Ball, Heath sensed Farfetch'd's eagerness to come out, so he released it immediately.

"Farfetch'd! Farfetch'd!" The newly released Farfetch'd flapped its wings happily, hungrily eyeing Heath's food cart. Heath quickly caught on.

"You glutton," Heath chuckled. With his first Pokémon and a mysterious new ability, his mood soared.

Heath cheerfully made another pancake roll, this time adding an extra egg, before handing it to Farfetch'd. The Pokémon eagerly grabbed it and devoured it in a few bites.

Watching Farfetch'd enjoy its meal brought Heath immense satisfaction. In his past life as a chef, nothing delighted him more than seeing customers radiate happiness from his cooking.

[You've served Farfetch'd. Reward: One Ability Modification opportunity.]

The message box reappeared, leaving Heath puzzled.

"Ability modification? What's Farfetch'd's current ability?" Heath rubbed his face, trying to recall. Farfetch'd wasn't exactly a common Pokémon, and he couldn't remember its default ability.

"There's no way it can become Primordial Sea or Desolate Land, right?" Heath joked to himself, resolving to ask Sister Rose later.

[Confirm changing Farfetch'd's ability to Desolate Land?]

Heath froze at the prompt. Could this really mean Farfetch'd could gain the same ability as Groudon's Primal Reversion?

"No!" Heath hastily declined.

Desolate Land, the signature ability of Primal Groudon, nullified Water-type moves entirely in its presence. While it was an incredible ability in-game, Heath shuddered at the thought of encountering Groudon in real life.

Desolate Land, Primordial Sea, Serene Grace—all tempting abilities, but Heath had a different one in mind.

[Confirm changing Farfetch'd's ability to Wonder Guard?]

"Yes!" Heath confirmed decisively.

As he did, Farfetch'd trembled briefly and glanced around in confusion, as if sensing the change.

If the modification worked, Farfetch'd would now be incredibly strong—borderline invincible.

Wonder Guard was the exclusive ability of Shedinja, allowing it to take damage only from moves that were super-effective.

Given that Farfetch'd was a Normal/Flying-type, only Electric, Rock, and Ice-type moves could now affect it.

"Farfetch'd, do you feel any different?" Heath asked excitedly, patting its head.

"Far?" Farfetch'd tilted its head, puzzled by Heath's behavior.

"Oh, right, there's this too." Heath took out the Silver Bottle Cap. But how was he supposed to use it?

Before Heath could figure it out, the curious Farfetch'd snatched the cap and bit into it.

In an instant, the Silver Bottle Cap disappeared, leaving Farfetch'd staring at its wings in panic as if asking, "Where did my crown go?"

[Farfetch'd used the Silver Bottle Cap. Special Defense has increased.]

Heath's eye twitched. Out of all the stats, it had to boost Special Defense. Randomized boosts to Attack or Special Attack would have been better.

"It's fine… just stack up your defenses," Heath reassured the bewildered Farfetch'd.

As night approached, Heath decided to return home, recalling Farfetch'd to avoid drawing attention. But Farfetch'd stubbornly resisted, only relenting after Heath promised an extra five eggs in tomorrow's pancake roll.

"What a glutton!" Heath laughed, exasperated yet amused.
