Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom

Chapter 731: Chapter 730: The Origin of the Legends

"The legends of Celestic Town?" Cynthia repeated Cain's words.

Cain nodded to confirm. "Exactly. I know that Celestic Town has some ancient legends. I'm quite interested in them."

Cynthia silently nodded.

Many of the legends of the Sinnoh region originated in Celestic Town, but over time, few people remembered that these legends came from there.

The fact that Cain, on his first visit to Sinnoh, already knew about these legends indicated that he had researched the region thoroughly.

Or perhaps, while studying his opponents in Sinnoh, he also included the legends of Celestic Town in his analysis.

If Cain knew what Cynthia was thinking, he probably wouldn't know how to respond.

However, neither of them mentioned anything about it.

After a moment of silence, Cynthia stood up and said, "Follow me."

The current Celestic Town is very different from the past. When the League first discovered the Sinnoh region, this town was a rather isolated place.

Some of the special structures within the town were inaccessible to those who were not among the main members of the community.

However, when the League was established in Sinnoh, Celestic Town was forced to cooperate with it.

Over time, the town's inhabitants began to realize that the secrets they had guarded for generations were not as important to the League or the world in general.

Of course, certain fundamental secrets were still known only to the town's main members, and the League did not insist on knowing them either.

Thus, Celestic Town began to open up to the outside world, and interactions with the rest of Sinnoh became increasingly frequent.

Occasionally, they would send someone outside the town to learn about the world beyond.

Thanks to this process, the town gradually integrated with the rest of the region.

Even so, Celestic Town maintains a unique position in all of Sinnoh.

Because of this, when Cynthia showed exceptional talent, she received great support from the Sinnoh League.

Cain followed Cynthia along a path leading to a small hill behind her house.

There were several wild Pokémon along the way, but none of them attacked upon seeing Cynthia. Even some strong wild Pokémon approached to greet her.

Cain noticed that these Pokémon had exceptional talent. Any of them, if taken outside, would spark fierce competition among trainers.

This proved that Celestic Town's background was truly remarkable.

They arrived in front of a small, run-down house at the top of the hill.

Seeing it, Cain couldn't help but feel a bit confused, as the house looked like a small abandoned temple.

However, Cynthia did not stop. She entered the house and pressed a hidden button on a statue in one of the corners.

Upon doing so, a wall at the back of the house trembled slightly and slid open.

This ancient mechanism seemed to have been built by Celestic Town's ancestors.

The small house was merely a facade. Behind it, a tunnel in the mountain concealed the true ruins of the town.

When the wall fully opened, it revealed a long and narrow passageway. Although it was not completely dark, as small orbs on the walls emitted a faint glow that illuminated the path.

Following Cynthia's lead, Cain accompanied her into the tunnel.

Once they entered, the wall behind them closed again.

"You're right. Many of Sinnoh's legends originated in Celestic Town, and these legends began with what lies within this tunnel," Cynthia explained as they walked.

As the strongest person of her generation in the town, Cynthia knew all of Celestic Town's secrets.

"Wait a moment. Even though I was the one who made this abrupt request, if there's something here that shouldn't be revealed, there's no need to show me. I don't want to put you in a difficult situation," Cain said, stopping.

Cynthia did not stop or look back. She continued walking and responded, "In the past, Celestic Town had many secrets, but not anymore."

She paused before continuing. "There was a time when our family carried too heavy a burden. When the League arrived in Sinnoh, the leader of our family at the time decided to reveal Celestic Town's secrets to the League's high command."

"Although this cost him his position as leader, it also relieved the pressure on the town's inhabitants. Since then, life in Celestic Town has become much more peaceful, and we no longer live under such tension."

"So now, there aren't many secrets in Celestic Town that cannot be revealed. The only thing that matters is whether the person hearing them has the ability to bear them."

"At first, I was considering whether you, as one of Hoenn's twin stars, would be able to bear these secrets. If you don't wish to know them, you can still turn back."

"Secrets, when known by only one person, can be an overwhelming burden. But when someone appears to share them, the pressure diminishes considerably."

"That's why, even though Celestic Town's secrets are no longer as confidential, they still haven't been widely disclosed."

Upon hearing this, Cain understood.

Celestic Town's secrets might seem shocking to others, but for Cain, who already had a unique perspective of the world, they weren't so difficult to accept.

"They're probably about the relationships between level-one Legendary Pokémon, or even the Creator Pokémon. I can handle it," Cain thought.

With this decision, they continued advancing through the tunnel.

As they moved forward, the walls of the passage began to show inscriptions and drawings.

Cain carefully observed these images as his system scanned them all.

"These inscriptions and drawings mainly describe the activities and experiences of Celestic Town's ancestors in ancient times," Cynthia explained.

Cain nodded.

From what he could see, there didn't seem to be anything particularly important, just depictions of everyday life.

However, soon, Cain noticed something different in one of the images.

It was something that seemed vaguely familiar, but he wasn't sure.

Cynthia, noticing that Cain had stopped, also looked at the image.

Cain pointed at a small black dot in the drawing, which seemed to contain strange characters.

"Is this... a Unown?"

Cynthia looked at Cain in surprise but then nodded.

"Yes, that is a Unown."
