Chapter 88: Welcome to Kanto
The ship too Kanto had finally arrived, as Haru, Rose and Suicune then walked out of the ship with that of other passengers, Haru was wearing a hoodie, sunglasses and facemask to keep his identity hidden, again problem with being a champion, as then a car came Infront of them, it was yellow and had black lighting like degine, it had the Degine of many electric type Pokémon, as the window landed down too shows LT Surge
Surge looked at Haru as he spoke. "Welcome to Kanto Champion, and welcome to my town of Vermilion City, now get in don't worry Professor Oak told us Gym leaders on what is happening".
Haru nodded, appreciating the effort to keep things discreet. He, Rose, and Suicune got into the car, settling in as Lt. Surge drove off through the bustling streets of Vermilion City.
"So, how much did Professor Oak tell you?" Haru asked, adjusting his hoodie.
"Enough," Surge replied with a smirk. "Delta Pokémon, mysterious mutations, and you running around investigating like some kinda detective. Gotta say, it's been a while since Kanto had something this exciting."
Rose leaned forward. "Are the other Gym Leaders on board with helping too?"
Surge chuckled. "More or less. Some are just curious, others are ready to battle if you need some practice. Sabrina's already lookin' into possible psychic disturbances, and Blaine's got his eyes on any Fire-type mutations."
Haru hummed in thought. "Sounds like Kanto's really getting involved."
As they drove, Suicune gazed out the window, eyes scanning the city. "I don't sense any Delta energy here," she murmured. "At least, not yet."
Surge grinned. "Well, Champ, first stop's the Pokémon Center. You got a room booked, courtesy of the League. After that, I'll take you to the Gym—we might have something interesting for ya."
Haru exchanged glances with Rose. "Interesting, huh? Guess we'll find out soon."
Surge was driving as he pulled out 3 Pokéball. "Gess what".
Rose looked at the 3 Pokéball as she spoke. "Delta Pokémon you captured".
Haru looked at Pokédex. "Will that explains the random 3 updates my Pokédex got yesterday".
Lt. Surge smirked as he tossed the three Pokéballs into the air, releasing the Pokémon inside.
The first was a Delta Electabuzz—its normally yellow fur was now a deep navy blue with glowing cyan markings. Electricity crackled around its body, but its energy seemed… colder than usual.
The second was a Delta Magneton, its usual metallic body replaced with obsidian-black plating, with eerie purple energy swirling between its magnets. It almost looked ghostly.
The third was a Delta Raichu, standing confidently with an almost draconic aura. Its fur was darker, and its tail had a flame at the tip, flickering like a Charizard's.
Rose's eyes widened. "Whoa! An Electric/Ice Electabuzz, a Ghost/Steel Magneton, and... is that Electric/Dragon Raichu?!"
Haru quickly scanned them with his Pokédex, nodding as the entries confirmed it. "Yeah, all three are rare variants. Kinda crazy you managed to find these in Kanto."
Surge chuckled. "Hah! Wasn't easy. Took some connections, but with all the Delta activity happening, figured I'd get ahead of the curve. These guys are still fresh, so I haven't battled much with 'em yet."
Suicune observed the Delta Pokémon carefully. "They are well-adapted to their new typings. But do you know how they mutated?"
Surge shook his head. "No clue. Some scientists at Silph Co. think it's related to certain energy waves. Some of these mutations happen naturally, but others… well, who knows what's causing it?"
Haru smirked. "Sounds like something I should look into."
Surge grinned. "Knew you'd say that. So, Champ—wanna take one of 'em on in a battle?"
Haru looked at Surge as he spoke. "Sure, but after we arrived to our destination, so please fouces on driving".
Surge looked back as he spoke. "Oh come what can go WRONG!".
He yalled as he nearly moved out of the way of Electabuzz and his Trainer.
Haru sighed, gripping the seat tightly as Surge swerved the car back into the correct lane. "I told you to focus on driving!"
Rose was laughing nervously. "Maybe less talking, more watching the road?"
Surge let out a booming laugh. "Relax, kids! I got this under control!"
Suicune, sitting calmly in the back, shook her head. "I fail to see how nearly running over a trainer counts as 'control.'"
Haru pinched the bridge of his nose. "Let's just get to Professor Oak's lab in one piece, alright?"
Surge smirked. "Fine, fine. But once we're there, you are battling me."
Haru smirked back. "Deal."
After a few more near misses and reckless turns, Surge finally pulled up to Professor Oak's Lab in Pallet Town. The moment the car stopped, Haru, Rose, and even Suicune quickly got out, relieved to be back on solid ground.
Haru stretched his arms. "I swear, that was more stressful than an actual Pokémon battle."
Rose was still gripping the car door. "I never want to ride in that car again."
Suicune, who had remained composed throughout the trip, finally spoke. "I may be a Legendary Pokémon, but even I do not wish to test fate like that again."
Surge just laughed, stepping out of the car. "You're all overreacting! That was fun!"
Before Haru could reply, the doors of the lab opened, and Professor Oak stepped out. His usual warm smile was present, but his expression also carried a hint of urgency.
"Ah, Haru! Rose! It's great to see you both. I take it the trip went well?"
Haru adjusted his hoodie. "Define 'well'—because if you mean almost dying on the way here, then sure."
Professor Oak chuckled. "Ah, I see Surge drove you here. That explains everything."
Surge crossed his arms. "Hey! I got them here fast, didn't I?"
Oak shook his head before looking at Haru. "Jokes aside, we have important matters to discuss. Let's head inside."
Inside Professor Oak's Lab
The lab was the same as always—shelves lined with Poké Balls, books stacked on tables, and a few Pokémon roaming around. The group walked deeper inside, where a large monitor was displaying a map of Kanto with multiple red dots scattered across it.
Oak gestured to the screen. "These red markers indicate areas where Delta Pokémon have been sighted in Kanto. The phenomenon is spreading faster than we anticipated."
Rose stepped forward. "I thought Delta Pokémon were rare? How are there so many in Kanto already?"
Oak nodded. "That's what we're trying to figure out. Some of these Pokémon have never been documented before, and we don't know where they're coming from."
Haru looked at the map. "Let me guess—you want me to investigate?"
Oak smiled. "You catch on quickly, Haru. I'd like you and Rose to help document these Pokémon while you're here."
Haru smirked. "Well, that was already part of the plan. I might as well do it while I'm collecting Gym Badges too."
Oak chuckled. "Speaking of which, your first stop should be Vermilion City's Gym. I believe Surge is eager for a battle."
Surge grinned. "You bet I am! But don't expect an easy win, Champion."
Haru grinned back. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
Later That Day – Vermilion City Gym
The Vermilion City Gym was as intimidating as ever, lined with large generators sparking with electricity. Haru stood across from Surge on the battlefield, with Rose and Suicune watching from the sidelines.
Surge grinned. "This ain't gonna be like our last battle, kid. I've got something special planned."
He pulled out a Poké Ball and tossed it in the air. "Come on out, Delta Electivire!"
The Poké Ball burst open, revealing a Delta Electivire unlike any Haru had ever seen before. Instead of its usual yellow-and-black fur, this one had white and silver fur with blue lightning crackling across its body.
Rose gasped. "That's a Steel/Electric type!"
Haru smirked, pulling out his own Poké Ball. "Well then, let's see how strong it is. Go, Houndoom!"
As his Houndoom appeared on the battlefield, flames flaring around its body, Haru's eyes burned with excitement.
"Let's see what your Delta Pokémon can do, Surge!"
Houndoom looked at the Delta Electivire, while the Electivire was stronge, Haru Electivire was much stroneger, as then Houndoom moved out the way as the Delta Electivire tryed to use a Thunderbolt, as then it tryed to take him down but Houndoom moves away, as then Haru told him to use Nasty plot as then, Houndoom moves as he was them Houndoom was right behind that fo Delta Electivire as then Delta Electivire tryed to use a Magnet Bomb, but then Houndoom mouth got coverd in flame, as then a blast do fire was hit, as he used a Fire Blast, as the star shape blast, went a s hit the wall defeated
The battle continued with intense energy.
Houndoom's Fire Blast shot across the battlefield in a blazing, star-shaped inferno. Delta Electivire barely had time to react before the flames engulfed it, sending it crashing into the gym wall. Smoke filled the air as the heat from the attack lingered.
When the dust settled, Delta Electivire was down.
The referee raised his hand. "Delta Electivire is unable to battle! Houndoom wins!"
Surge clicked his tongue, returning his Pokémon. "Damn, kid. That Houndoom of yours ain't playing around." He smirked, pulling out his second Poké Ball. "But I ain't done yet!"
Haru adjusted his hoodie. "I'd be disappointed if you were."
Surge tossed his next Poké Ball into the air. "Let's turn up the voltage—go, Delta Raichu!"
A white-furred Raichu with blue lightning sparks crackling around its cheeks appeared on the battlefield.
Rose gasped. "Another Delta Pokémon?!"
Haru smirked. "Alright, Surge—let's see what this one can do."
Haru them called back Houndoom as he looked at Delta Raichu. "Electric/Dragon Type, will let's see"
He them sent out Electivire, Electivire came out, as then she already knew what was happening, as she used Wild Charge right out of the PokeBall as then Delta Raichu junked out of the way.
Surge looked at Haru Electivire. "Damm, your Electivire is made for battle".
Haru looked at Electivire as he remembers when he catched as a Elekid. "Yeah, even she is my second pokemon after my Swampert".
Surge grinned as Delta Raichu landed smoothly, sparks crackling around its body. "Well, let's see if your Electivire can keep up with mine!"
Haru smirked. "We'll see about that. Electivire, Thunder Punch!"
Electivire's fist surged with electricity as she dashed forward, aiming straight for Delta Raichu.
"Dragon Pulse!" Surge commanded.
Delta Raichu unleashed a swirling blast of draconic energy, intercepting Electivire mid-charge. The attack sent shockwaves across the gym, but Electivire barely flinched, gritting her teeth as she pushed through the force.
Haru nodded. "As expected."
Rose looked at him. "What do you mean?"
Haru smirked. "Electivire has trained against Dragon-types before. She's resistant to their attacks."
Surge narrowed his eyes. "Heh, not bad, kid. But I ain't done yet!"
Delta Raichu's tail glowed, extending like a whip.
"Iron Tail!"
The metallic tail came crashing down toward Electivire.
"Block it!" Haru commanded.
Electivire crossed her arms, absorbing the hit with a heavy grunt. Sparks flew as the impact sent shockwaves across the battlefield.
Surge's grin widened. "Damn, you weren't lying. That Electivire of yours is a beast."
Haru smirked. "You haven't seen anything yet. Electivire, Giga Impact!"
Electivire's body glowed with immense energy, the air around her warping from sheer force.
Surge's eyes widened. "Oh, shi—"
Electivire launched forward at full power.
Electivire launched forward like a living comet, a trail of golden energy crackling behind her as she shot toward Delta Raichu.
Surge gritted his teeth. "Raichu, dodge with Agility!"
Delta Raichu vanished in a blur of motion, moving so fast that it left afterimages. Electivire's Giga Impact smashed into the ground, sending tremors throughout the gym, but missed its target.
Rose's eyes widened. "That speed is insane!"
Haru, however, remained calm. "Doesn't matter."
Surge smirked. "What do you mean, kid? Your Electivire just whiffed a powerful move. She'll be wide open now!"
Delta Raichu reappeared above Electivire, charging up Draco Meteor, as several glowing orbs formed above it, ready to crash down.
Haru simply raised a hand. "Electivire, counter with Protect."
A green energy barrier instantly surrounded Electivire, blocking the Draco Meteor's fiery impact.
Surge's smirk faltered. "Tch. Smart."
Haru nodded. "Giga Impact has a recoil phase, but it doesn't say anything about not being able to defend during it."
As the barrier faded, Electivire cracked her knuckles, already recovered from her cooldown.
Haru's eyes gleamed. "Now, Ice Punch!"
Electivire's fist froze over, swirling with subzero energy, as she lunged forward faster than before.
Surge had no time to react. "Raichu, move—!"
CRACK!
The Ice Punch landed squarely on Delta Raichu's chest, sending it flying back. Ice froze over its body, and it landed hard on the gym floor, struggling to move.
Rose gasped. "She froze it!"
Surge grinned, despite the loss. "Damn, I didn't expect that. Raichu, you good?"
Delta Raichu let out a pained chirp, still conscious but unable to move due to the frozen effect.
Haru crossed his arms. "It's over. Do you yield?"
Surge sighed, rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah, yeah. You win, kid."
Electivire let out a victorious roar, electricity sparking around her.
Rose cheered. "That was amazing, Haru!"
Surge recalled his Delta Raichu and laughed. "Damn, no wonder you're the champion. Your Electivire is an absolute monster."
Haru smirked. "Thanks. She's been with me for a long time."
Surge then tossed him a special badge. "Here, take this. It's not an official Gym Badge, but it's proof you beat me and my Delta Pokémon."
Haru caught it, looking at the lightning-shaped emblem.
"Not bad," he said.
Surge then pulled out two more Pokéballs. "Now, you still gotta deal with my Delta Electabuzz. You up for another battle, or you gonna save your energy?"
Haru exchanged a look with Electivire. She grinned, cracking her knuckles.
He smirked. "What do you think?"
