Kay spent the week focusing entirely on training Eevee. For Dig, he instructed Eevee to stay underground for longer periods, building its stamina and control while navigating beneath the earth.
Kay occasionally chose areas with tough, rocky ground to make the training more challenging, forcing Eevee to strengthen its claws and endurance.
For Quick Attack, Kay set up small distances and ordered Eevee to sprint across them at maximum speed, repeating the exercise again and again.
Each time, Eevee would push itself to move faster, its small body blurring as it dashed forward.
Wish training was different. Kay asked Eevee to use Wish repeatedly, even outside of combat or training sessions.
He also tried to limit the use of healing potions, relying instead on Eevee's Wish move to recover.
His goal was to reduce the time it takes for Wish to activate, making it a more reliable option in difficult situations.
A week had gone by since the dreadful events in the dungeon, and Kay still hadn't entered another one.
He spent those days training Eevee and preparing himself mentally. Today, however, was different. Today, Kay was finally ready to challenge a dungeon alone for the first time.
Kay searched through the League's dungeon registry and quickly found an F-Rank dungeon nearby.
Since he was entering alone, he didn't have to wait hours for team approvals or preparations. He packed his gear, checked on Eevee, and set off toward the dungeon.
When Kay arrived at the dungeon entrance, he noticed several teams gathering near the gate.
Their presence reassured him, it meant that someone would definitely defeat the Dungeon Leader, giving him a safe opportunity to exit later.
While waiting for the soldiers to give clearance to enter, a middle-aged man with a rugged face approached Kay. The man studied him for a moment before speaking.
"Hey, kid. You're Kay, right? The famous Supporter Trainer? Why don't you join my team? We could use someone like you."
Kay smiled politely but shook his head. "Thanks, but I'm going in alone today."
The man froze for a moment before bursting into laughter. His loud chuckles caught the attention of nearby trainers.
"You? Alone? Inside a dungeon? Hahaha!" the man clutched his stomach. "Do you think life is that easy, kid? I bet you won't last an hour in there!"
He walked away, still laughing, and shared the joke with his teammates, who joined in, mocking Kay openly.
But Kay didn't react. After what he had seen in the last dungeon, words like these didn't bother him anymore.
He had faced the true dangers of dungeons; the chaos, the fear, and the loss. To him, dungeons weren't just places to earn money anymore; they were places of real danger and survival.
Moments later, the soldiers gave the signal, allowing trainers to enter the dungeon. Kay adjusted his bag, glanced at Eevee, and took a deep breath.
"Let's go, Eevee. It's just us this time."
As Kay stepped into the dungeon, he saw an entirely new world different from any dungeon he had seen before.
The sky above was an endless sea of dark, swirling clouds, crackling with streaks of golden lightning that danced without a sound.
The ground beneath his feet was metallic and gray, reflecting faint light from the sky above.
All around him, jagged crystal spires jutted out from the ground, pulsing with a soft blue glow, as if they were alive and breathing.
Rivers of electric-blue water flowed across the terrain, their shimmering surfaces occasionally sparking with tiny bolts of electricity.
Far in the distance, Kay spotted metallic trees with glowing yellow leaves, their branches swaying even though there wasn't a single breeze in the air. (Look at the picture below)
After moments of discovery, Kay's eyes were locked on a range of black mountains in the distance, where lightning storms raged fiercest and the sky seemed the darkest. His instincts told him that the Dungeon Leader was there.
It seemed the other teams had drawn the same conclusion. Kay noticed groups of trainers all heading toward the direction of the black mountains.
Kay left the trainers heading toward the mountains, quickly separated himself from the crowd, and headed west, avoiding the leader as he planned before.
After walking for a while, Kay's path was blocked by his first encounter in this dungeon.
Standing a few meters away was a fluffy creature covered in cloud-like wool that shimmered faintly with static energy.
Its yellow tail orb glowed softly, pulsing in rhythm with an unseen beat. Tiny sparks flickered in the air around it, creating a faint buzzing sound. (A Mareep)
Kay took a deep breath and focused on the Mareep standing in front of them. "Eevee, stay ready. This is our first fight alone, and we must win it."
"Eevee, use Quick Attack!" Kay commanded.
Eevee dashed forward, but Mareep reacted instantly. It used Cotton Guard, wrapping itself in a thick, fluffy shield.
Eevee's attack hit the cotton barrier but didn't make any scratch, and Eevee rebounded.
"Wait for the right moment, Eevee! When Cotton Guard drops, use Sand Attack, then Dig!" Kay instructed.
The cotton shield slowly faded, and Eevee sprang into action. With a swift movement, it kicked up sand directly into Mareep's eyes, blinding it temporarily.
Before Mareep could recover, Eevee dug into the ground using Dig, disappearing from view.
Mareep blinked its eyes rapidly, trying to regain its vision. Confused and unable to see Eevee, it glanced around nervously.
Suddenly, Eevee burst out from underground, striking Mareep from below with a powerful blow.
The attack was super effective since Ground-type moves are strong against Electric-type Pokemons.
Seeing an opening, Kay shouted, "Eevee, Quick Attack again!"
Eevee rushed forward, slamming into Mareep with another precise hit. The fluffy Pokemon staggered back but managed to stay on its feet.
"One more time, Eevee! Quick Attack!" Kay ordered.
Eevee charged again, but this time, Mareep used Cotton Spore just before Eevee could land its hit.
Many cotton balls floated in the air, creating a protective screen. Eevee, unable to stop its momentum, collided with the cotton balls, and in that brief moment, Mareep unleashed a Thunder Shock.
A bolt of electricity struck Eevee directly, and it let out a sharp cry of pain.
"Eevee, listen to me! Use Wish, then Dig, and stay underground until Wish takes effect. After that, attack one more time!"
Eevee nodded weakly, closing its eyes to cast Wish. Then, Eevee dug underground, escaping Mareep's sight.
Even though Eevee wasn't on the field Mareep didn't focus on Kay and began using Charge to strengthen its next electric move.
Maybe, as Kay was a little bit far from Mareep, it didn't count him as a threat, or maybe just because of its peaceful nature.
Moments later, the ground beneath Mareep cracked open, and Eevee burst forth, aiming for its neck.
The attack landed perfectly, hitting a critical point. Mareep let out a weak sound before its body stiffened and collapsed, fainting instantly.
"Eevee, use Bite on its neck and kill it!"
Without hesitation, Eevee bites it on the neck, finishing the fight. Mareep's body then began to disintegrate into black ash, leaving behind a small crystal in its place.
Kay then collected the crystal, put it in his bag, rushed forward, and knelt beside Eevee, pulling it into a tight hug. "We did it, Eevee… This is our first win. Let's keep moving with the same determination. Now, use Wish one more time to recover from the battle."
"Eeveww..." Eevee closed its eyes, using Wish one more time.
Kay continued deeper into the dungeon, facing more Mareep along the way. Each battle followed a similar pattern to the first, with Eevee using Dig, Quick Attack, and Wish strategically. By the end of the second day, Kay and Eevee had defeated several Mareep.
On the second evening, while exploring the metallic plains of the dungeon, Kay stumbled upon something unusual...
