Pokemon Earth’s Parallel World: Dragon Trainer

Chapter 19 – Please, don’t hurt me!

After Kanraku shared his plan, the bewildered expressions of the four were unmistakable. Even Ivan and Floyd, who were usually the calmest, felt astonished. This guy had grand ambitions! If such a plan were truly implemented, it would mark a turning point for humans and beasts alike. Without a doubt, the name Kanraku Hiroshi would be inscribed in history as the pioneer and first founder of the Alliance.

12 am-midnight

Kanraku entered the medical facility with a wrapped bag in his arm. He saw Chansey sleeping while guarding the unconscious Growlithe. Seeing this, Kanraku felt remorseful; due to the day's troubles, he had almost forgotten about these two, especially Chansey, who hadn't eaten yet. He approached the unconscious Growlithe and channeled his power to it.

(AN: Viridian?)

"Chansey," Chansey woke up from her sleep, drowsy as she looked at Kanraku.

"Did I wake you? I'm sorry. Oh wait, you haven't eaten yet, right? Here, one of my guests gave this to me; you can try it," Kanraku smiled as he patted Chansey's head and handed her the wrapped bag.

"Chansey…?" She was confused as she took the wrapped bag and looked again towards Kanraku, as if asking for permission.

"Don't worry, open it." Kanraku was also curious about this. Floyd had mentioned that he had made something called "Pokeblock," suitable for any type of Pokémon, made from Kuo and Nutpea berries. Kanraku was familiar with these but had thought them to be just normal berries.

(AN: I added some fanmade berries and others such as Topo, Niniku, Touga, Yago, Kuo, Ginema, Nutpea, Strib, Eggant, Drash, Pumkin, and two varieties of Chilan that I was talking about earlier. They are all Normal type, the reason is there's only one official Normal type berry, so I added them.)

Chansey opened the bag and was greeted by a pleasant scent. Inside, she found dozens of gray-colored Pokeblocks. She smelled one, thinking it delicious, then looked at Kanraku with a bit of uncertainty, as if asking for permission.

"Don't worry, it's for you; just eat it," Kanraku said, feeling a pang of distress for her. She had always been very careful with her actions—perhaps previous experiences with humans had caused her trauma.

Chansey took a bite, and her eyes lit up. Hesitant, she slowly reached for another one, watching Kanraku's reaction. She took another bite and reached for more, this time without even looking at Kanraku, as if she had forgotten about him and was solely focused on eating.

"Puchi," Kanraku couldn't control a smirk at her reaction; it was the first time he had seen Chansey behave like this. Normally, her expression remained bland when eating, and she was always cautious, often glancing at Kanraku. It seemed that these Pokeblocks were indeed as attractive to beasts as Floyd had said.

Kanraku hadn't expected berries to have so many uses. He hadn't focused much on this area of study but realizing that a simple fruit like a berry could be so versatile was enlightening. This knowledge could be integrated into his plan—perhaps Floyd could be an instructor teaching about the different varieties of berries, meriting an increase in his salary.

Noticing Kanraku's smirk, Chansey blushed, embarrassed by her behavior, and bowed her head, avoiding his gaze.

Kanraku found her reaction amusing but was soon distracted by a thought. He remembered something Floyd had given him—a potion, said to be even more advanced than eating berries and healing powder. Feeling the need to check on something, he smiled, patted Chansey's head, and moved away to arrange all the instruments for preparation.

Chansey noticed that Kanraku was busy with something she didn't understand. Letting go of her embarrassment, she approached him: "Chansey?"

"Ah, you want to help? Don't worry, I can manage. You just woke up; finish your meal first so you have the energy to assist me later. There's something we need to test," Kanraku explained to her.

"Chansey, Chansey!" Chansey felt motivated and hurriedly finished the delicious food.

A few minutes later, Kanraku completed the preparations. Chansey also finished eating, and now they were standing in front of Growlithe.

"Chansey, are you ready?" Kanraku asked.

"Chansey!" Chansey nodded seriously.

"Then let's start!" Kanraku poured the potion into Growlithe's mouth.

After a few seconds, the entire contents of the bottle had been administered to Growlithe. Kanraku watched the screen showing the liquid from the potion moving through Growlithe's pathways. Surprisingly, Growlithe's heart rate and blood pressure increased, and the muscles around its airways started to intake more oxygen.

"Chansey, let's do it!" Kanraku commanded as he channeled his power towards Growlithe.

"Chansey!" She used her ability, Healer.

When the liquid reached the damaged internal organ, it stopped progressing due to Kanraku and Chansey's interference. It adhered to the damaged organ, and the damage rapidly repaired itself in just a few seconds.

Kanraku's eyes widened in shock while Chansey's eyes brightened with joy. Although she was unfamiliar with the equipment and some medical methods, Chansey, being a natural-born healer, understood that the wounds on the monitor were healing rapidly.

Kanraku and Chansey had tried this method before, but the results were not as promising. He was confident that together, they could heal this little Pokémon, but it might have taken days or even a week. Now, there was a possibility that Growlithe could wake up soon. The medicinal effects also started to address the injuries on Growlithe's head.

"Chansey, attend to its head; I can take care of the rest." He and Chansey needed to separate to maximize their healing output.

(AN: Chansey was abused by her previous owner, so she didn't learn many moves such as Heal Pulse; she just relied on her Ability: Healer, but her level was low, so it wasn't very effective. Even Kanraku's power was more effective than hers, he just weaker physique, despite improvements due to his power, it still limited the duration he could maintain this ability.)

"Chansey!" Chansey then began healing Growlithe's head. Though the healing wasn't as rapid as it had been for the organs, it was still swift. Five minutes later, the healing process accelerated, leaving Kanraku exhausted, with only Chansey multitasking—using her left hand on the head and the right on the body.

Another ten minutes passed, and all the damage to Growlithe's body had been healed. Despite his exhaustion, an excited Kanraku forced himself to stand, with Chansey by his side, waiting for Growlithe to wake up.

Growlithe was in a dream where he recalled his birth amidst countless explosions. He felt crying and tears falling on his face. He slowly opened his eyes to see a giant red dog with a grey ash mane and black stripes on its body, bloodied and looking at him with despair and reluctance. The dog continued crying, struggled to stand, walked away, and left him, concealing him behind destroyed stones.

The sounds of explosions continued, making him scared and prompting him to cry. A few hours later, he heard voices.

"Sir, I heard a sound here."

"It seems to be a beast."

"Be careful."

They removed the stones, and he saw people looking at him with hatred.

"It might be her offspring."

"Catch it!"

From then on, he suffered immensely at the hands of these people. Every struggle was met with an electric shock from the collar around his neck. He learned only to satisfy his owners and not anger them. He experienced brutal "beast fights." A win meant a reward of meat, a delicacy, but a loss resulted in a thousand lashes from his owner.

As his untreated injuries worsened, he grew more desperate, continuously losing fights and enduring more injuries and lashes, often without food.

He questioned the world why he had to suffer such unfair treatment since birth, but his cries went unheard, and his mind blurred.

Facing another battle, he knew he had to give it his all, or he would die. But his opponent was strong, and he was in pain. As he was about to lose consciousness, he heard his owner's last words: "You're so useless; it would be better if you died here. You are free now."

Then, he fell unconscious.

Awakening to unfamiliar noise, Growlithe wondered what had happened to him. He was afraid that if he didn't wake up, his owner would torture him again.

Opening his eyes, he saw two creatures—one human and one unknown.

"You woke up!" The man smiled excitedly.

"Chansey! Chansey!" The unknown creature also cheered and jumped slightly.

However, to the man's surprise, fear filled Growlithe's eyes upon seeing him, and the little guy cowered, covering its head.

Please, don't hurt me!
