Pokémon Era: Starting as a Team Rocket

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Rock Blast

Under the allure of the Energy Cube, Butterfree agreed to a match with Meowth. Countless Silver Winds descended upon the field.

Countless flowers were cut in half by the Silver Winds, their petals fluttering through the sky with the Silver Winds.

This colorful, sky-filling rain of petals was breathtakingly beautiful.

Meowth extended the claws hidden beneath its meaty paws, pushed off the ground with its legs, and quickly swiped its claws at Butterfree.

Meowth was a very practical Pokémon. Talented Meowth could even use Thunderbolt and Surf.

Qingwu suddenly noticed that the Butterfree mysteriously appeared behind Meowth and used Tackle on Meowth.

Meowth was struck in mid-air, then plunged headfirst into the sea of flowers, covered in grass clippings and petals, looking colorful all over.

"The move that Butterfree just used, was that Aerial Ace?" Qingwu's heart rejoiced.

Aerial Ace was a very practical offensive + evasive move, allowing the user to get behind the opponent and attack.

Qingwu had just been racking his brain trying to find an Aerial Ace TM, and now it was like receiving a pillow when he was sleepy.

There were two main ways to teach moves in the Pokémon world.

The first, and simplest, was through TMs with limited uses, which contained demonstrations by various move masters. Pokémon could learn moves through the teaching of these TMs.

The second was direct teaching by another Pokémon, which was the most common method used by wild Pokémon.

Seeing the Butterfree that could use Aerial Ace, Qingwu's first thought was to capture it.

Unfortunately, a Pokémon with deep yellow potential didn't meet Qingwu's requirements. However, he could let Leiming capture this Butterfree.

This Butterfree knew both Silver Wind and Aerial Ace, and its potential wasn't weak. If Leiming captured it, it could immediately become a useful asset.

"Leiming, this Butterfree is good. It has potential for training. You can consider it."

Qingwu calmly said to Leiming, then stopped speaking.

Qingwu's attention focused on the training of Aron and Zubat.

As the rock energy continuously gathered, Aron's Rock Blast could now fly in the direction Aron wished.

However, Aron's understanding of "blast" was still not thorough enough.

The blasted rocks failed to cause secondary damage, mainly because the rocks shattered too finely, making it easy for Beedrill to dodge directly.

Beedrill could be said to be one of the stronger Bug-type Pokémon.

Generally, when trainers traveled, the most common Pokémon they encountered were Beedrill.

However, Beedrill's larvae, Weedle and Kakuna, had almost no offensive power.

Aside from attacking enemies with its horn, Weedle could also use String Shot and Tackle.

By the time it evolved into Kakuna, besides gaining Harden, it was even weaker than Metapod.

After all, Bug-type Master Bugsy from the Johto region had a very strong Metapod. After special training, its movement speed was incredibly fast. Combined with Harden + String Shot + Tackle, it could even KO Ash's Chikorita.

Kakuna would spit silk to hang from trees, usually protected by Beedrill.

Once there was any disturbance, it would sacrifice its potential and rapidly evolve into Beedrill for battle.

Once upon a time, not many trainers used Beedrill in battle. The only one that left a deep impression on Qingwu was Giovanni.

The Beedrill he trained could even defeat powerful Dragon-type Pokémon like Dragonite, especially after Beedrill could Mega Evolve.

People in the Pokémon world all took pride in owning Beedrill, although Mega Stones for Beedrill were rare.

Aron and Zubat battled Beedrill, and the Beedrill were generally Level 16-18, providing extremely considerable experience.

Zubat would sometimes provoke Butterfree, leading to Butterfree's collective pursuit.

Just like that, a few more days passed. Aron finally mastered Rock Blast, while Zubat mastered Aerial Ace.

"Aron, use Rock Blast," Qingwu said to Aron.

Aron confidently looked at the five or six Beedrill surrounding it, continuously using Twineedle on itself.

With a series of clangs, Aron's body didn't even have a white mark. A huge rock burst out from the ground.

It rushed towards the nearest Beedrill. The rock heavily impacted Beedrill, then immediately shattered into five smaller rocks.

These five rocks accurately hit the nearby Beedrill. For a moment, the Beedrill all fell to the ground, fainting.

"Go, Poké Ball," Qingwu said, seeing an orange-potential Beedrill. He threw a Poké Ball.

These past few days, Qingwu had been constantly scanning Pokémon's potential with the system. Unfortunately, almost all the Beedrill he scanned had red potential.

It was rare to see an orange-potential Pokémon, so Qingwu quickly captured it. He could exchange it for quite a few points at the Team Rocket exchange center.

Qingwu's principle was that the Pokémon he kept had to be green potential or higher.

After Aron learned Rock Blast, the Beedrill that were collecting honey in the flower field were all given a good beating by Aron.

Aron also became a bane in the flower field. Beedrill that had been beaten would avoid Aron from a distance when they saw it.

Qingwu saw that Aron's level had also risen to 19.

"Let's go, Aron, Zubat. Let's go for a walk in Beedrill's territory and see if there's anything good."

Qingwu was no longer afraid of Beedrill attacks. Zubat and Aron could completely handle Beedrill attacks.

"Leiming, let's part ways here. See you at the Team Rocket base."

Qingwu had already shown Leiming the utmost goodwill, and Qingwu was not Leiming's nanny. As a member of Team Rocket, he naturally had to be independent.

Qingwu tallied the Pokémon he had that could be exchanged for points: one green-potential Bellsprout, two orange-potential Oddish, three red-potential Beedrill, one orange-potential Beedrill, and two orange-potential Arbok.

Bellsprout was not a Pokémon Qingwu liked. Qingwu only considered Bellsprout a tool for extracting raw materials. So, if possible, Qingwu would trade Pokémon with others. As for the Arbok that knew Glare, Qingwu planned to temporarily keep them.

In his previous life, Qingwu's Arbok didn't know Glare, so Qingwu wanted to study the secret of Arbok using Glare.

Coincidentally, these two Arbok were one male and one female, so Qingwu planned to have the Arbok breed.

And then study whether Glare could be passed down through genetics.

Qingwu walked through the Beedrill forest, encountering several groups of Beedrill, and even saw Beedrill from different groups fighting. The losing Beedrill would be completely killed by the winning Beedrill.
