Pokemon: I am a God-level Player

Chapter 110: 110. The Dragon Loves Battles

"Roar~~~"

Gible jumped about energetically, nuzzling against Eddie affectionately before opening its mouth to roar at the nearby Charizard, as if challenging it to battle.

"Are Dragon-types naturally aggressive? Except for the Dragonite line, which is relatively gentle, most Dragon-type Pokémon are warlike and fierce. Most ordinary Trainers probably couldn't handle Dragon-type Pokémon," Eddie mused.

"Maybe it's because Charizard resembles a dragon. When Dragon-types battle other Dragon-types, the damage is doubled. Is this some kind of expert infighting?"

Eddie was certainly no ordinary Trainer. Not to mention his power of Viridian, this Gible had hatched under his care, establishing a strong bond from the very beginning.

"Alright, Gible, Charizard is your teammate. Even though its name contains 'dragon,' it's not actually Dragon-type unless it Mega Evolves! Stop roaring at it."

When disputes arose between his Pokémon, Eddie naturally stepped in as peacemaker. They were all his valued partners.

"It's quite convenient that the mysterious egg hatched into Gible at this time. I was planning to level up and battle Trainers along this route anyway."

"I estimate the Pokémon we'll face on this road should be between levels 25 and 30. Gible can join battles once it evolves into Gabite at level 24."

"But before that, let's use all the TMs it can learn. Dragon-type Pokémon can master many different moves."

Eddie made his plans quickly. He had originally intended to use his level 40 Pokémon to defeat opponents below level 30—essentially crushing weaker challengers.

Now that Gible had appeared, he could focus on leveling it up, though he could still easily overcome any opponents they encountered.

After carefully considering which moves Gible could learn, Eddie took out a collection of TMs and immediately used them on his new Pokémon.

"Ding! Gible has learned Earthquake, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Iron Tail, Double Team, Aerial Ace, and Dragon Pulse!"

Examining the diverse movepool—Ground, Fire, Dragon, Steel, Flying—Eddie couldn't help but admire how versatile Dragon-types were.

"Remember that Dragonite can also learn Electric moves, Ice moves, Fighting moves, Water moves, and even Psychic moves. Dragonite is incredibly well-rounded, but if Gible didn't have the Ground typing, it could probably learn those moves too."

"But I shouldn't be greedy. Dragonite excels in all aspects, while Garchomp specializes in speed and physical power. More importantly, Garchomp can Mega Evolve, while Dragonite hasn't yet been discovered to have a corresponding Mega Stone. In this comparison, Garchomp is indeed stronger."

Even as Eddie said this, he knew that if he ever had the opportunity to obtain a Dragonite in the future, he would definitely train it. Even without Mega Evolution, it would still be a cornerstone of his team. The pseudo-legendary of the Kanto region hadn't earned its reputation through Mega Evolution.

Though nearly all pseudo-legendary Pokémon from other regions could Mega Evolve, Eddie felt that the game developers owed Dragonite a Mega Stone.

Nevertheless, since Gible was destined to become a key member of his team, and Eddie possessed two Gold Bottle Caps, he wouldn't be stingy. He took out a Gold Bottle Caps and presented it to Gible.

"Ding! Gible's potential has broken through! It now has 'Champion Level' potential!"

Opening the status panel again, Eddie felt a sense of accomplishment as he viewed the improved statistics.

Name: Gible

Type: Dragon + Ground

Ability: Rough Skin (When hit by contact moves, the attacker loses 1/8 of its maximum HP)

Level: 5

Potential: Champion Level

Moves: Tackle, Sand Attack, Outrage, Earthquake, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Dragon Pulse, Iron Tail, Double Team, Aerial Ace

Highly satisfied, Eddie immediately released all of his Pokémon.

Gible was delighted that its strength had been enhanced so soon after birth, but when it saw the three main Pokémon Eddie released, it was stunned.

Having already witnessed Charizard's power, it now beheld Greninja, Sceptile, and Lucario—Pokémon equally as formidable as Charizard.

Being a Ground-type, Water and Grass-types would normally be its weaknesses, but fortunately, its Dragon typing provided resistance that canceled out the Ground-type weakness, making Water and Grass neutral against it.

According to conventional wisdom, this would be true, but Greninja possessed the Protean ability that allowed it to change types freely, plus it knew Ice-type moves, giving it an advantage against Gible.

After Mega Evolution, Sceptile gained the Dragon typing, making battles between them doubly damaging as Dragon versus Dragon. The same applied to Charizard.

As for Lucario, Ground and Fire moves were effective against its Steel typing, making it the only teammate that Gible might eventually be able to defeat once fully grown.

Well, that was just a possibility. After all, Lucario also knew Dragon Pulse, and with its exceptionally high intelligence, defeating it wouldn't be easy for Gible.

"Roar~~~Roar!!!"

Gible immediately grew agitated, complaining to Eddie with a few indignant roars before fiercely challenging the other Pokémon.

Hearing this, Eddie didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Through his Power of Viridian's translation, he understood perfectly what the newborn was upset about.

"Come on, you've just hatched, and already you want to defeat your teammates? You're incredibly combative."

"Roar~~~Roar~~~"

"What? You claim you learned this from me? That I'm obviously the most aggressive one, so why am I criticizing you for it?"

Eddie was stunned by these words, suddenly remembering something important.

When a Trainer carries a Pokémon egg, though the Pokémon hasn't hatched yet, the egg can sense every action of its Trainer.

After hatching, the Pokémon's personality largely inherits traits from its Trainer.

It was like a delinquent who enjoyed playing cards, dice, and billiards—when he hatched a Togepi, the normally cute Pokémon turned out quite rough around the edges, sharing the same gambling habits. It was probably the most notorious Togepi in history.

"So, Gible's warlike, battle-hungry personality was learned from me?"

Eddie reflected on his behavior since receiving the egg from Bill.

Though he had been rushing to Vermilion City at the time, he had still battled wild Pokémon and Trainers along the way.

After arriving in Vermilion City, he had engaged in major battles with Team Rocket members, followed by an intense match against Lt. Surge.

And now, he was headed to Lavender Town, ready to challenge more Trainers, with additional plans to visit the Pokémon Tower.

"...Although I was just leveling up and completing tasks, I suppose my behavior has been rather aggressive..."

In truth, Eddie knew this wasn't merely aggression—it was a complete battle fixation. He was constantly thinking about fighting, making "battle maniac" an appropriate label for him.

Though he rationalized it as leveling up and completing tasks, that couldn't change the fact that he had fought his way through every challenge.

"Alright, this is my fault. I accept that."

"If you enjoy battling, then be aggressive. Trainers fundamentally live for battles. How else can you grow stronger without fighting?"

"Let's go, Gible. Since you're so combative, stay close to me. Before us lies the battleground. There's never a time not to fight!"

Eddie shrugged, smiled, and walked forward with his Pokémon.

The battle was ahead, and Eddie would fight all the way to the end until he became the strongest!
