Chapter 46: Chapter 46: A Wave of Evolution Resources
"That hurts..." Gary, holding his forehead, felt as if he had been hit head-on by a Snorlax.
Swish~ A wet sensation on his cheek made Gary groggily open his eyes.
It turned out that Eevee was lying on top of a majestic-looking dog.
Wait a minute~! Big dog!
"Woof!" Arcanine stuck out its tongue again, excitedly giving Gary a face wash.
At this moment, Arcanine's two front paws were resting on Gary's chest; no wonder he had just dreamed about Snorlax...
"Wow, Arcanine, you evolved," Gary said, somewhat dazed as he rubbed the big dog's head.
"Woof!" Arcanine flicked its tongue, soaking half of Gary's face. Now he was finally awake.
Right, he had attended the welcome banquet for the Sinnoh delegation yesterday.
He thought it would just be an elegant dinner to discuss some academic issues.
But then Professor Monet slammed the table and shouted for drinks!
Gary protested that he was only ten years old; although he was considered an adult, drinking was still too early for him.
Professor Monet kindly remarked, "Can champagne be called alcohol? It's just grape soda—drink up!"
Rubbing his forehead, Gary sat up on the ship and sighed, "If anyone says that academics are genteel again, I'll smash their heads. They are practically a bunch of bandits..."
Who was it that forced him to chug down drinks? Right! Professor Rowan, you old rascal!
It felt like he hadn't eaten anything and had just been drunk instead.
He vaguely remembered being escorted back to the office building by Caitlin. After handing over his Pokémon to three graduate students, Gary had passed out.
"Wait!" Gary suddenly remembered something and pulled back the covers. He sighed in relief, "Good, it's still here..."
Looking at Eevee and Arcanine sitting at the foot of his bed, Gary ruffled his hair and got up to get dressed.
Once dressed and washed up, he opened the bedroom door to see three busy figures.
His Pokémon were having a meal prepared by Xue.
"Professor Gary, you're awake!" Xue approached with some materials.
"Ah, thanks for your hard work. I got drunk last night thanks to a few old geezers," Gary waved his hand dismissively.
"Uh... you mean Professor Monet?" Xue smiled awkwardly and began her report. "Yesterday afternoon, all the materials you needed were brought over by the logistics department."
"Since you mentioned before sleeping that your Pokémon breeding work would be managed by us, we used evolution stones on Nidoqueen and Arcanine."
"The test results are perfect; here's the report."
Gary took the report and glanced at it briefly. "Hmm, very good. Thank you for your hard work."
It was evident that the three graduate students had put in considerable effort, and they likely used top-quality evolution stones.
Nidoqueen and Arcanine showed significant improvements in all aspects of their data.
"Additionally, there are two more Pokémon that are currently holding evolution items but show no signs of evolving for now." July led two large Pokémon in front of Gary.
Gary looked at the bronze-colored Scyther and the bulky Rhydon, unable to suppress a twitch at the corner of his mouth.
"Scyther... why do you look like an African chicken?" Gary sighed.
"Whoosh~" Scyther sulked and pointed at July. It was her who said that applying a metal coating could lead to evolution...
Rhydon scratched its head foolishly; wearing Protector made it feel itchy all over...
"Forget it; these two will be used as case studies in the upcoming seminar. They can evolve in the next couple of days," Gary thought aloud.
After this period of training, Gary's team had mostly reached an average level of 35.
All Pokémon evolutions could proceed without too much pressure now.
"The remaining unmatched evolution materials are stored in the materials cabinet; you can take them anytime," July adjusted her glasses while dressed in a black professional outfit with a fitted skirt and high heels.
A perfect little secretary...
For some reason, Lorelei's figure flashed through Gary's mind.
Indeed, Lorelei is the goddess of office attire!
Swish! A flash of light appeared, and Caitlin instantly teleported over, holding two crepes.
"Gary, I brought you breakfast! Cynthia and I spent thirty minutes picking the best fillings for these crepes!" Caitlin proudly held the crepes in front of Gary.
"Thanks, Caitlin. I'm just hungry," Gary replied as he took a big bite of the crepe.
With a base of sea salt cheese sauce, paired with banana, almond slices, soybean powder, and rice cakes, Gary's eyes lit up—this was gourmet!
Watching Gary eat heartily, Caitlin proudly placed her hands on her hips and floated beside him. "Let me tell you, Caitlin, you were so drunk yesterday. Luckily, my psychic powers were strong enough to carry you back. I even had Gothitelle help you take off your coat..."
Gary felt embarrassed. "I really fell for Professor Monet's tricks this time; he can forget about dragging me to another drinking party next time. Thanks to you, Caitlin."
"Of course!" The blonde legal loli struck a pose as if to say, "Look how amazing I am!"
"Quack!" Golduck waddled over with a spoon in its mouth and mischievously reported through telepathy, "My foolish trainer! If I hadn't suddenly appeared yesterday, Caitlin's wicked little hands would have touched your abs!"
"Pfft—cough cough..." Gary's face turned red as he nearly choked.
"Are you okay, Professor Gary? Here, drink some tea," Lilith, who had just finished her Pokémon tasks, quickly brought over a cup of warm barley tea.
"Gulp... Ah~ saved by the tea. Thank you, Lilith" Gary said after drinking the tea and shot a glare at Golduck.
This guy might be talented and have impressive combat power, but his personality is so annoying and lecherous; I really don't know how his brain works—
According to Golduck's reasoning, there's nothing he can do; his intelligence is too high, making it hard to control certain emotions.
"You think Slowking is easy to deal with? That old guy just has an innocent-looking face!" Golduck explained.
"By the way, Professor Gary, the principal left you a message. The academic exchange meeting starts at 2 PM. Please arrive on time," July reminded dutifully.
"Woo~" Caitlin didn't understand these troublesome matters and nibbled on her crepe while eyeing Gary's tea cup. That barley tea seemed quite delicious...
Gary thought for a moment; he couldn't let this opportunity slip away. Professor Monet, if you're going to play at being a beginner, don't blame me for being clever!
He picked up the phone, adjusted his tone to be serious, and dialed.
"Hello~ Who is this? Can we talk in two hours? I'm trying to sober up~" Goodness! Principal Monet is hungover too!!
Gary pouted and said, "Professor Monet, the evolution materials I requested earlier are ready. Next, I might need some Pokémon resources. Is it possible from our school's breeding house?"
Principal Monet was still feeling dizzy but agreed directly. "Alright, I got it. Just go to the breeding house and find Director Robert. Just tell him I've approved it; whatever Pokémon you need, take them directly."
Gary smiled; this was exactly what he was waiting for. After hanging up the phone, he looked at Caitlin. "Do you want to visit Rainbow University's breeding house?"
Caitlin's eyes sparkled. "Sure! I'll call Cynthia; let's go together!"
Gary shrugged. "Ten minutes to prepare; meet at the building entrance."
"Understood, Gary!" Caitlin cheerfully agreed and then suddenly vanished with a swish.
