Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Educating a Rival by Wearing Three Outfits
In the Celadon Gym, the girls attending class found themselves in front of a great spectacle. When the incredibly handsome Mr. Gary Oak entered, he first exposed Ash for his cross-dressing antics. Then, he pulled three misfits from Team Rocket out of the crowd...
There was no way Gary could pretend he didn't recognize them with their red and blue hair colors and Meowth's strange accent. Just when Team Rocket was about to show off their ability to change outfits in an instant, Gary's Golduck sent them flying with a slap. This wasn't because Gary was tough; it was mainly because Golduck was eager to perform in front of all the girls present.
"How annoying~!" Gary commented as he watched Team Rocket fly through the air, feeling nostalgic about his past! Ash trembled in place, feeling anxious as one of the two boys in a sea of girls; in fact, he was a man who had been publicly humiliated by the gym leader.
In that moment, it was natural for Gary to act. He whispered to Erika, "How about doing me a favor?" Erika covered her mouth and replied, "As expected of Professor Oak; I will listen to you." Seeing their mischievous looks, Ash panicked completely. He pulled down his skirt and shouted, "Don't come near me~ Ah... Ah... Butterfly Yameh!"
Ten minutes later…
In the midst of a crowd of giggling girls, Gary held his phone in one hand while posing Ash in various embarrassing positions with the other.
"Gary, stop! You can kill a person, but not humiliate them!" Ash shouted with a flushed face. Gary raised an eyebrow. "Do you still want to challenge the Gym?" Erika secretly took pictures alongside Gary. "Ahem… That's right! Only by experiencing this can you realize the mistake of cross-dressing! Wait until I finish taking pictures... no, wait until Professor Oak is satisfied before accepting your challenge!"
"Big sister, I'm already a boy… Help me, Pikachu…" Ash lamented helplessly. "???3?? Pika~ Pika!" Pikachu, wearing a bow and a little dress, posed but responded to Ash's call with an expression of helplessness.
Golduck prepared Pikachu well and gave him a big sip. Ah, fresh Pokémon! How delicious! Sip it up! After collecting many embarrassing moments of Ash, Gary happily stored his phone. "Ahem~ Ash, do you understand now? The next time you see a young master like me, make sure to greet him properly. Otherwise, I will turn you into an Internet celebrity, a cross-dresser!"
"〒▽〒 Understood… Can I take off this outfit now?" Ash collapsed forward in desperation… "No way!" Erika firmly refused. "Today is an exclusive event for women. So if you want to challenge the gym, you have to wear this!" "What a sin…" Ash dramatically shouted…
In the end, Ash completed his Gym challenge with tears in his eyes. Seeing that Ash had chosen the three starters, Gary nodded. It had always been him; the starters never depended on others but replenished themselves along the way...
After watching his rival's gym match, Gary suggested they grab coffee and chat while buying perfume. Erika made a generous gesture with her hand. "What are we going to buy? Take whatever you want from the latest products from my lab!"
Ash bravely asked Gary if he felt nervous or envious after seeing his team. Gary didn't say much; he waved his hand and had Scizor and Golduck stand on either side.
"Do you want me to beat you now or wait until the Indigo League? You've spoiled your starters too much," Gary rolled his eyes. "According to logic, since we are halfway through our journey at the Gym, you should have at least one or two Pokémon evolved to their final forms. Look at all those babies in your room; are you backing up baby cups?"
Ash wanted to retort but instead said: "Whether they evolve or not depends on the Pokémon; as long as we work hard together, even unevolved Pokémon can win against evolved ones!" Gary didn't give him any response. "Whether Pokémon evolve or not depends on the situation. For fast attackers like Pikachu, it makes sense not to evolve to maintain an advantage.
But Squirtle and Bulbasaur, being more defensive types, letting them waste time like this isn't naivety on their part; it's your fault as their trainer." Ash almost choked on his words. "Fine! Since you say that, let's battle!"
Gary sighed helplessly. "Erika, can I borrow your venue?" Erika smiled. "Of course! As long as it's not you personally fighting, I'm very interested in your match." Gary shuddered at her words; there was more than one meaning behind them...
"Let's go! Let me show you that my bond with my partners is enough to overcome theory," Ash shouted enthusiastically.
"In fact, there is that possibility; however, can each of them unleash their power?" Gary nonchalantly put his hand to his ear since he had seen the script beforehand. Because Ash's first-generation partners were too valuable!
In Ash's last match at the Master Tournament (the highest level and longest-trained first-generation Pokémon), besides Pikachu, none had the chance to fight. To put it bluntly: the main reason was that Squirtle and Bulbasaur simply couldn't compete at world-class levels!
Even Charizard, who had defeated Articuno in its enhanced form, couldn't escape being overshadowed by others. The timing for second-stage evolution wasn't right; they weren't prepared in level or stamina for evolution.
Forcing evolution through anger only led to underdevelopment. Even after training for so long in Charizard Valley and gaining immense strength... In the end, they couldn't adapt to the intense battles there and preferred to go home as lazy Pokémon...
All this was a result of neglecting their training! Pokémon are like their trainers' children: sometimes they don't know which path to take. It is the trainer's responsibility to guide them.
In Ash's early days, he had loved his Pokémon too indulgently.
"Let's go! Show me what you've got." As he entered the battlefield, Gary gestured with his hand.
"Let's go, Pikachu!" Ash shouted without hesitation as he launched Thunderbolt, his usual tactic.
"Scizor! Go play with him," Gary said with a hand gesture while Scizor silently set aside some freshly picked berries and prepared for battle.
"Hassai!" Scizor fixed its cold gaze on Pikachu; Pikachu shivered slightly.
"Alright! The rules are three against three. The match ends when all Pokémon on one side lose their ability to fight. Now let's begin!" Erika announced as referee with a hand gesture.
"Pikachu! Quick Attack!" It was an old trick from Ash.
"Scizor! Close your eyes and use your ears to feel it; then use Night Slash," Gary said calmly.
"Hassai~" Scizor assumed its starting position for its attack and lowered its body slightly. A puff of white mist escaped its mouth while a white light surrounded Scizor...
"Pika!" Pikachu zigzagged quickly with white electric light as it charged towards Scizor. The next second… Swish! The white blade shot out! Scizor fiercely swung its right claw; an energy sword extended from its front claw leaving behind a clean cut in the air.
"Pika!" Pikachu cried out painfully as it flew backward against the wall and fainted from the impact. Knockout in one hit!
"Pikachu!" Ash exclaimed as he ran towards Pikachu in his arms, incredulous at seeing it knocked out—this is impossible…
"What do you think? Want another round?" Gary gestured again.
"Let's go!" Ash returned to his place and set Pikachu aside—If Pikachu doesn't work then I'll use Squirtle!
"Squirtle!!" Squirtle took its place on the field.
"Let's go," Gary gestured again; while Ash could become strong later on, at this moment humility would be useful against an opponent raised without any training beyond battles on the road.
If Gary's Pokémon couldn't dominate under these circumstances... then Celadon Gym's breeding program might as well close!
"Squirtle! Use Water Gun!" Ash stubbornly pressed forward with another attack.
"Sword Dance!" Gary indifferently boosted his Pokémon's power even further. Scizor raised its claws and spun rapidly; its speed completely redirected Squirtle's Water Gun!
At that moment already having superior attack power thanks to the boost...
"Damn it! If Water Gun doesn't work just attack! Squirtle! Use Tackle!" Ash was getting desperate.
"Catch it with Metal Claw," Gary shouted without even devising a strategy but simply reacting accordingly.
Boom! Squirtle attacked energetically but got firmly trapped between Scizor's crossed claws...
"Squirtle?" Squirtle was stunned; now it was trapped and couldn't even retreat into its shell...
"Metal Claw~" Gary snapped his fingers as Scizor's claws burst forth with shiny metallic light.
"Squirtle~!!" Squirtle cried out before losing consciousness shortly after.
"Want more?" Gary sighed; honestly even he felt sorry for himself while fighting like this.
"Return Squirtle; you did great." Returning Squirtle to its Poké Ball after easily winning against Ash made Gary approach him and extend a hand toward him.
"Having passion for Pokémon has never been wrong," he said kindly. "Since you love them so much strive hard alongside them."
"If you don't give up or surrender and work hard together your Pokémon will surely respond positively."
"Now I understand..." Grabbing Gary's hand while standing up again made Ash wipe tears from his eyes fiercely saying: "I won't lose; I will challenge you again at Indigo League alongside Pikachu and all my others!"
"Then make sure you work hard," said Gary with a slight smile—You have a long way to go.
"Damn it! Don't be arrogant! Once I train hard alongside Pikachu and my other starter Pokémon I will show you our true strength!" Ash declared angrily while holding Pikachu tightly as he turned haughtily without looking back...
Gary waved cheerfully behind him saying: "Alright dear friend I will be waiting for our battle!" Without turning around at all Ash silently raised a finger.
